“Dosirak (도시락) is the Korean word for a traditional lunchbox or packed meal, and this little restaurant truly feels like homemade Korean comfort food.
From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with genuine smiles and a relaxed, no-rush atmosphere. The menu has lots of choices, which can be a little overwhelming at first, but the owner is always happy to explain everything and make great recommendations.
The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and tastes like it was made with care. It's not overly salty or loaded with MSG and you can really taste the fresh, home-cooked quality in every bite.
For the price you pay, the quality of the food and the outstanding customer service are on another level.
It is located at 9737 Macleod Trail SW, in the same shopping plaza as Value Village, making it an easy place to find.
If you're looking for authentic comfort food served with genuine hospitality, give Dosirak a try!“

“The food is delicious! Even the little kids ate really well, which was great. We ordered jjolmyeon as a side and had it with the pork cutlet, and the combination was amazing. My child loved the pork cutlet, so we’ll definitely be coming back again. 😊“

“Hankook is the best Korean fried chicken I have had, it is a great place to bring many people as the portion sizes are quite large. Further, the prices are quite cheap for the amount and quality you get.
The lady who runs it is very kind and gives great service, while not a deciding factor in the quality of a resturant it only makes going so much better.
The chicken itself is perfectly cooked, especially the boneless. There are no bad flavors though the soy sauce and chili garlic are the best to get. Definitely a great place to bring family and friends when having a larger dinner get together.“

“It was more delicious than any other restaurant I had in Toronto and, above all, it was one of the best places because they were very kind. My daughter is visiting Calgary for this restaurant. I looked proud of the owner and workers of the restaurant to see foreigners enjoying the Korean food. I miss your food. Good luck!“

“I ordered a bibimbap bowl with tofu and it was delicious! I have a garlic intolerance and they were soo accommodating to my diet and subbed out ingredients to still make the bowl full, flavourful and filling! I so enjoyed this and appreciated how much they did to make sure I enjoyed my meal despite my dietary restriction.“

“I ordered the kimbap expecting a quick snack and instead had a full emotional support meal. One bite in and suddenly I was staring out the window like I was in the final scene of a K-drama reconsidering my entire life. It reminded me of my mother’s cooking… which is impressive because I’m not Korean and my mom mostly specialized in “whatever was on sale.”
The kimbap was ridiculously good — fresh, packed with flavor, and rolled tighter than my jeans after all-you-can-eat sushi night. I told myself I’d save half for later, which was adorable of me because that thing disappeared in about 4 minutes. Honestly I ate it so fast I’m surprised Google Maps didn’t mark me as a natural disaster.
And shoutout to the cutie working the till. Super sweet, friendly, and dangerously charming. I came in for kimbap and left with a minor crush and sodium happiness. They were so nice I almost forgot I was standing there breathing heavily over seaweed and rice like a feral little food goblin.
10/10. If this place ever starts selling kimbap by the bucket I’m finished financially.“

“In bow vallet square, +15 connected food court. Has lineup. Fast assembly line. Good number of topping extras, and you chose your heat and meat. Lots of sauce. I like sweet and found it very sweet, the chicken was too sweet, but still okay. Value good for current prices, around $12.“

“If you’re looking for authentic Korean street food in Calgary, look no further than this cozy little gem tucked away in Chinatown. It’s a family-run spot, basic in setup, but that’s exactly what you want from a street food place, and the warmth of the owners more than makes up for any lack of frills.
I’ve been coming here almost every week for a year now, and the longest I’ve managed to stay away is three weeks. The menu covers all the Korean street food staples, but I keep coming back for one thing: the Bulgogi Kimbap. It’s become my ultimate comfort food, the kind of thing that genuinely makes a bad day a little bit better. One thing I particularly appreciate is that they skip the burdock root, which makes it even better in my books. Dine in and you’ll be treated to a bowl of their fish cake soup on the side, which is a lovely touch.
And if you’re taking it to go, keep an eye out for their adorable kimbap-themed takeout paper, a small detail that shows just how much care goes into the place.
Ssoyummy is honestly one of the few reasons that makes the commute to the office worthwhile. Five stars, no question.“

“Chun Jang delivered a solid and enjoyable meal with several standout dishes. The spicy squid noodle soup was the clear highlight. The broth had a robust pepper-forward profile with a clean heat that did not overwhelm the aromatics, and the portion of squid was notably generous and well prepared. This single dish would justify a return visit.
The fried rice carried the characteristic wok-derived fragrance and paired well with the accompanying black bean sauce, offering a balanced savory element. The black bean noodles were less successful. The sauce leaned toward the sweet end of the spectrum, which limited depth and made it the least preferred item among our group.
The sweet and sour pork met expectations. The coating remained crisp, the sauce was well proportioned, and it functioned as a reliable classic that rounded out the meal.
Overall, Chun Jang offers strong execution on its spicy and savory dishes. The spicy squid noodle soup, in particular, deserves attention for its broth and portion quality.“

“Roy’s Kitchen is one of my husband’s and my favorite restaurants in Calgary. I am from Korea and he is Canadian, and we both love their food because it has a great balance between traditional Korean flavors and modern fusion.
Although the dining area feels less like a conventional restaurant and more like a food court, the food quality and prices are really amazing. They also sell ready-to-eat traditional Korean soups and side dishes, and we always pick up a few whenever we visit.
I only wish they were a bit closer to our neighborhood. We live on the north side of Calgary, but we never mind making the trip because the food at Roy’s Kitchen is just that good.“

“Hanbo Korean Noodle serves some of the best Korean comfort food I’ve had in the city. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the entire experience feels warm and genuine from the moment you walk in. The flavours are rich, comforting, and deeply authentic — the kind of food that feels like it was lovingly cooked at home by someone’s mother.
The noodles were absolutely fantastic, and the seafood pancake was outstanding: perfectly crispy, packed with flavour, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Every dish tasted fresh, homemade, and made with real care.
This place has such a cozy, heartfelt atmosphere that you leave feeling comforted and already looking forward to coming back.“

“The food is delicious and the service is warm, caring and attentive, like visiting an auntie. Came with a friend who has spent time in Korea, and she said it tasted like being there. Interior is clean and absolutely unassuming, bordering on a cafeteria feel. Dedicated street entry on the ground floor of the Stonehaven condo building.“

“My husband and I met my brother and his family at this restaurant for dinner. We ordered 2 combos - pork and beef, and it was a lot of food. The food is great, the service is good and the ambiance is great! This place has a bbq grill and it is on the expensive side, but in my view, it is worth it. I will definitely come back here again.“

“After trying many Korean BBQ places in Calgary, this one is easily the best. Truly the best.
I have been here twice, and both experiences were excellent. The service was consistently attentive and friendly, the food was very fresh, and the restaurant itself was clean and well maintained.
One thing I really appreciate is that the beef is not overly marinated or drowned in heavy sauces. Since we work out regularly, this lighter preparation is much more suitable for us, and you can really taste the quality of the meat. The ventilation is also good, so the smoky smell is not overwhelming compared to many other BBQ places.
It honestly has all the strengths you would expect from a great Korean BBQ restaurant. During winter, the window seating can be a bit cold, but once we mentioned it to the staff, they immediately offered to move us and even cleaned an extra table for us. We truly appreciated the effort and kindness.
I would confidently recommend this place to anyone looking for high quality Korean BBQ in Calgary.“

“I had the mandu (dumpling, pot sticker) and the japjae. The mandu was excellent; most dumplings at restaurants have a tough outer skin or are too thick, or don't have enough filling. This was just right.
The side dishes (a favorite of any Korean meal) was ok (flavour and attention to detail were a little lacking). The kimchi was subpar. I was a little saddened by this as the side dishes can really complement your meal, and enhance it.
The japjae was also ok. I have had better (I can also make it better) but otherwise the dining experience was positive.
The restaurant has several soup dishes, so if you're a fan of that, you can check it out. Pricing is fairly standard for a Korean restaurant. Ordering is by tablet, situated at your table.
Footnote: it's a little tricky finding the restaurant, since there are multiple merge lanes and it's located in a small strip mall immediately after you turn left off 14th.
You might be better off parking in the adjacent strip mall across Dollarama and walking over instead.“

“Today I tried Seafood Cream Udon for the first time — and it was absolutely delicious. The portion size really surprised me. I came in very hungry, but after this amazing dish I left full and happy. The creamy flavor was rich, the seafood was fresh, and the noodles were cooked perfectly.
I definitely recommend Korean cuisine and especially this wonderful place. I’ll definitely come back again 🙌“

“The service was excellent!! We came in an hour before closing so it was fairly empty and service was very fast. The kimchi was the best I’ve ever had outside of Korea, and the dumplings were sooooo crispy, if you ever get the chance to visit I would highly recommend it!“

“Just had the Kim's boneless chicken bites, (spicy). One of the best dishes I have ever had. I don't live anywhere near the farmers market but anytime I go near there I will be stopping and picking up an order. I took it to go so that I could share with my wife, meaning I saved her a piece lol. I told them they need to bottle this sauce and sell it. The spicy sauce is sweet at first but then has a spicy kick but it's not out of hand so I think just about anyone could enjoy it.“

“I’ve come here twice now and both times have been exceptional! We ordered the beef bulgogi BBQ and the budae jjigae 🥩🥘. The beef bulgogi was great but what really makes me come here is the budae jjigae! It’s soo addicting and comforting (especially during the colder weather 😆). They’re also very generous with the sides (my favourites are the kelp/seaweed and soft tofu). Although it is a small space, it’s definitely worth it. The service is great and I like how they serve warm tea with every meal 🍵. The prices are reasonable, ranging from $16-$20ish (worth it since it’s very filling). I recommend and look forward to visiting soon!“

“Food was pretty good but service was mediocre to lacking;
Never refilled our water and had to ask for a water jug refill,
Didn’t really check up on us. Didn’t turn down the heat on the pan so all the soup evaporated.
Didn’t offer to refill side dishes.
Seafood pancake was amazing though definitely the stand out dish!“

“One of our favourite stops at the Avenida Food Hall. The katsu on rice is superb. Fresh shredded cabbage, perfectly sticky rice, the crispiest katsu topped with sweet and flavourful sauces. Had it a number of times now and it’s always consistently excellent with a great portion size.
The service is super nice and quick, exactly what you want from a place like this. Highly recommend!“

“Don’t let the simple food-court style setup fool you — the food here is fantastic.
We stopped in on a rainy day craving something hot, and it absolutely hit the spot. I ordered the Kimchi Soup, and it was delicious. The spice level was perfect, the flavor was rich and comforting, and it arrived literally boiling hot, just like a homemade soup should. Definitely be careful if you’re hungry and in a rush!
My partner ordered the seafood noodle soup, and let’s just say the spice level was no joke. She’s breathing fire like a dragon right now and looks like she just came back from Korea!
The prices are incredibly reasonable. Honestly, not much different than what you’d spend at a fast-food place, but the quality is on a completely different level. Fresh, flavorful, filling, and comforting.
The atmosphere is very simple and feels more like a cafeteria than a restaurant, and that’s probably the only thing I would improve. But once the food arrives, you quickly stop caring because everything tastes so good.
The gentleman working there (possibly the owner) was friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent service with a smile.
Great food, great value, great service. We’ll definitely be back. 🌶🍜🔥“

“Had a great experience at this Korean restaurant. The soups with rice were absolutely delicious! We orderes S5 & S8, they are rich in flavor with nice layers, yet not overly salty.
My family also mentioned that the restroom was very clean, which is always a plus.
Service was solid too. As soon as we arrived, staff greeted us and kindly asked us to wait while they arranged a table. We were seated pretty quickly, and the menu and water were brought to us right away. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.

“Delicious chicken and can’t wait to try other dishes they serve. We just stopped in to check it out and possibly grab a quick bite. Ended up grabbing a couple of their chicken burgers (reg) and from those alone my wife and I plan to return because it had so much flavour. Personally their chicken burgers are better than KFC after they replaced the Big Crunch to a basic filet burger. They’re better than Popeyes and Jolliebee and I can only imagine how good the Korean dishes will be. An absolute must check for yourself and you’re welcome 😉“

“I recently visited Gogi Resto in Calgary for some Korean BBQ, and it was a great experience overall. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere and the food came out quickly, which is always a plus for an all-you-can-eat spot.
The selection of meats was fresh—especially the pork belly and beef slices, which cooked nicely on the grill. I also enjoyed the fried chicken and sides; the kimchi and dipping sauces added a lot of flavor to the meal. The lettuce wraps were fresh and perfect for balancing the richness of the grilled meat.“
