“Great sushi place. The fish was fresh and was told they fly in the fish direct from Japan. They had a bluefin otoro on special, when we were there, and it was fantastic!

Service was great and people were super friendly. Small little place with high ceilings, so you don't feel claustrophobic, and nice music playing while you enjoyed your meal.“

“My partner and I tried the temaki omakase for dinner. There are ten courses: four appetizers, five temaki and dessert. The service was delightful and attentive. The sashimi was fresh and the temaki were high quality and artfully prepared. We also tried yellowtail nigiri, scallop nigiri and sablefish nigiri, which were all fresh and expertly prepared. As it is in Avenida Food Hall, don’t expect to be in an upscale and quiet dining room. It is perfect for those, like us, who appreciate good food in a simple and casual setting. We would recommend!“

We went purely out of curiosity. The food is ordinary, one cannot say that “I have never tasted such delicious dishes anywhere.” At the same time, the idea with trains is quite interesting and children really like it. The selection of sushi is very small.
On the plus side: it has its own underground parking. If you love sushi/rolls, then I would definitely recommend visiting at least once, and then decide for yourself whether to come again))“

“Highly recommend the scallops pocket sushi , very delicious!! Unagi and aburi salmon pocket sushi were not bad.
The only thing that I would like to see them to improve is the cleanliness! The walls are dirty that made us not comfortable staying in there for long!“

Food is decent. Gave 4 stars because of the mango on the sushi that I ordered. The mango should be sweet but the one on the sushi is more on the sour side. But it did not negatively impact our overall experience. Still a sushi place that we will go to when we visit Calgary.“

Tempura is crispy without oily surface.

Especially the "Spicy Hawaiian Poke Gunkan Sushi". Several layers of taste.

“Omakase is all the rave right now and Calgary to offer it is such a blessing. To that end, Satsuki does it right.

Food: Everything was done right. From the cut of the sashimi to the homemade desserts, it was an exciting journey through Japan's sushi cuisine. There were fishes unique only to Omakase in Japan that Satsuki was able to procure. The head chef is also an expert in Sake. It was truly a culinary experience.

Service: Head chef and her boyfriend were friendly and attentive. It was nice to hear the history and back story of Satsuki and how the restaurant came to be.

Atmosphere: Restaurant is small and cozy. Sitting at the sushi bar makes the experience more personal and unique.

Value: Upfront cost is high, but the ingredients and food you get is worth it, at least once. Technically it is cheaper to eat rare sushi from Japan here than to fly there instead.“

“This restaurant was bigger than I was expecting. Made a reservation and came for lunch. Large variety of Sashimi and Rolls. Food arrived quite fast after we ordered. The rolls were large and creative. The sashimi tasted fresh. We were not fans of the gyoza, and we would not order those again.“

“Jung is always pleasant and willing to make you any dish that you do not see on display. The sushi is often very fresh and I've had it dozens of times. It's not very often I'd trust "mall sushi" but i've come to enjoy it here because it's made very fresh. I would like to see Bento stretch out into some quality cuts of Unagi, Snapper, Surf Clam alas their mostly traditional family style offerings are still great here. Salmon Combo or Spicy Combos are always good.“

“We were looking for casual, affordable Japanese food nearby, and felt immediately upon walking in that we'd lucked out, because among the people dining were a couple of tables where people were chatting in Japanese. We each had a delicious meal of chef's selection of sashimi, sushi, and tempura. Really great service. We learned it's family business that's been there since 1983. We recommend the lychee ice cream for dessert!“

“We were introduced to Li-Ao Sushi by some friends of ours who lived close by and who said it was their top sushi place to go. And after a few dinners there, I would have to agree. Always fresh, generous portions regardless of sushi or sashimi and very reasonably priced. Li-Ao is at the top of my list now too and I'll continue to go there whenever I'm in the area.“
