“I can't get enough! Best in the city! I am here 2 times a week easy. When I am heavy in projects and creative this is where I go for a healthy option made with love ❤️Vegetarian options: Has them!Dietary restrictions: Accommodation in full!“
“Great bánh mì. I usually order the đặc biệt when I try out a new shop to see what they're all about. Bread is light and crisp, and the pate is really smooth. It really reminded me of the pate in Vietnam. The cold cuts were also very good. Best special I've had in Calgary so far.I also ordered a bánh mì phá lấu (beef offal stew) to take home for dinner. I've been craving phá lấu for a very long time now and I am glad I've found a place here that sells a good one. The offal doesn't smell and is very tender. The soup is also seasoned very well.Prices are very reasonable compared to other shops as well! This may very well be my new go to bánh mì shop.“
“This is one of Calgarys truly hidden gems. The advantage of delivering Uber Eats is you find the restaurants you had no idea about. This is that hole In the wall family run restaurant you have been looking for. I had to get take out because it was so busy. If you go for lunch go early! Best Vietnamese I've ever “
“Visiting Bonjour Saigon on Sunday has been my new delight routine. The food and service have high level of consistency and showcase their commitment in evaluating Viet cuisine. It's impossible to find fault with anything here. I wholeheartedly recommend Bonjour Saigon to all fellow food enthusiasts in Calgary!“
“This is a nice little Vietnamese restaurant in central Calgary. I had the pho with meatballs and thought it was pretty decent. I don’t think it was the best pho I’ve ever had, but I’d definitely go again. The fried shrimp wontons weren’t the best, but I didn’t mind getting them that one time.“
“absolutely my favorite vietnamese restaurant in the city . I have tasked alot but fresh everytime . such amazing people . clean very very clean . great prices . I am a regular and my wife always asks for this if we go for takeout . and a very healthy alternative to other take outs I find . wish you guys the best for the new yr“
“Best vegan/vegetarian vermicelli I've ever had! Loved this place since being recommended there 2020 by a friend saying it was a great meal to take and eat in the park. This pic is what she sent me and I was sold because she's a certified foodie!I've not lived in Calgary since 2021 but it will be my first and last stop the next time in there. I recommend it to anyone going to Calgary and one time had someone drive it to me in Edmonton and it was still good!I usually ordered it to go but the one time I dined in it was a delight ??11/10 recommend! If you order delivery call them directly instead of the apps, very good serviceVegetarian options: Get their tofu vermicelli, comes with 2-3 different types of tofu, spring rolls and veg. See my picture ?“
“We came in for the special Vietnamese 7 Beef Courses meal. Very tasty and enjoyable. Enjoy dining in this clean and neat restaurant. The services were friendly and amazing (always asked if anything we needed). Especially they have the Karaoke station after 8:30pm and weekend live band. I will definitely go back for more Vietnamese dishes. Saigon Chef, keeps it up and all the best!“
“The ladies working were really nice, I got a Vietnamese sub and shrimp salad rolls. The salad rolls were big, flavourful and well assembled. The sub was exceptional; plenty of meat, well balanced vegetables, nicely spicy, and the bun was bang on with lovely crust. I will be back!“
“Definitely one of the best vietnamese restaurants I've ever eaten at! I came here for lunch and the place was packed by 12:30, Yet my food came so fast I could hardly believe it. The prices are very affordable. I orded the Lobster seafood satay noodle soup, and some salad rolls. The soup was so flavorful and had 1 full large lobster tail and a small 1/2 tail. This soup was only $20. A normal seafood noodle soup was around $13, so I litterally only paid 7$ for lobster! The salad rolls were big snd fresh, and the peanut sauce was creamy & warm! I will definitely be coming back to try some other dishes.Still the best in Calgary.“
“The best!!! Their soup broth is always consistent and very flavourful. Best time to come is after the lunch rush or dinner time. Staff are always nice and accommodating as we always request steamed veggies in any of the soups we order and they are generous in their portions. Highly recommend trying if you haven’t already.“
“This Vietnamese restaurant is great with food, service, turnaround time, and atmosphere. There is plenty of parking available in the lot and it is free. Delivery, dine in, or takeaway is also available. It used to be owned under a different management with a different name, and now it has changed into something else. All in all, it is still a great Vietnamese spot.“
“I just dined here. WOW!First off the restaurant is so clean and nicely decorated in a modern Asian motif. The service was utterly fantastic. I was greeted and served by one of the owners, Jim. He was so friendly and helpful with what's fantastic on their huge menu offerings (judging by the other patrons meals, everything was fantastic) I sat close enough to the till and overheard everyone being so complementary of their dinners when paying. Everyone had a smile.I opted for the Wor Wonton soup and a side dish of Chicken dumplings . They were flavorful and cooked perfectly, and opposed to other Asian restaurants that dry them out and serve them semi warm, the helping of these dumplings is double otherplaces, and at equal or less money than other restaurants!I even recieved a complimentary appetizer to start, which just was fantastic on its own to aid in cleansing your pallette for the upcoming meal. The soup arrived and was so, so, fresh, the ingredients were so vibrant in color and piping hot. These ingredients (unlike so many other places as mentioned) were incredibly fresh. The serving bowl was absolutley filled and I mean filled with Shrimp, Chicken, BBQ sliced pork, wontons, broccoli, green onions, mushrooms, babycorn, bok choy, and more!It is without a doubt, the freshest, wonderfully prepared, and cleanest Asian cuisine dining establishment I have visited in the last decade!Pride of ownership absolutley shines through.5 ?????Do yourself a favor and visit, no disappointments!“
“One of my favourite restaurants on campus. I order the Viet Deli Sub with a cookie at least twice a week and it always tastes good. Way better then Subway, really friendly staff and for $8, you get a massive Sandwich. I also have to commend this establishment for putting irregular prices on display (e.g: 7.77) that come to a whole number when you add GST, as opposed to most places that add a number like 9.99 which then totals to a weird number like 10.48.Vegetarian options: Solid Vegetarian options for those of y’all that do not eat meat.“
“I placed a large group order(group of 20) through Uber Eats. The order was ready when I arrived to pick it up and the staff were so friendly. They had everything well labeled and packaged well for carrying. They all helped me carry out the order. When I got the order to my group, everyone was happy with their order. I had the Peanut chicken noodle soup. The broth was nicely spiced and there was lots of noodles, bean sprouts and basil. The twist of lemon was perfect also. They included Siracha, Hoisin sauce and chili oil (which was wrapped well in case of a spill) I also had the mango bubble tea which was perfect with the spicy soup. I would recommend this restaurant for its great food and excellent customer service.“
“The owner and staff of this restaurant are very friendly and helpful. And the food is so good here. I have been here numerous times with family and friends, and have never been disappointed. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone.“
“Walked passed this place many times and finally went in. It’s a build your own type of place. A choice of four homemade broths (I recommend the premium and the coconut satay), protein, and toppings. Even the chili paste is made in house and some of the best I’ve had.“
“My Girlfriend and I decided to try out VyThi since I met the owner who was just starting out and came to our shop for marketing materials. Since we love Vietnamese Cuisine, we decided to go for a drive from the SW all the way to the NE to try them out. IT WAS WORTH THE DRIVE. Not only were we welcomed and treated invitingly (she did that to everyone who came in with a huge smile), The Chicken vermicelli was amazing. The seasoned chicken made was made to perfection and the spring rolls where a great favourable experience that topped off the great DISH. I told the owner not to change a thing as it was the Best Chicken Vermicelli we have ever had. We look forward to going back to try the SUBS. This place is a hidden gem. Keep going and keep the great food rolling. We support local and we will support her and her family's restaurant for years to come“
“My wife came here specifically for the Papaya Salad with Shredded Beef Jerky, and it did not disappoint. We ordered several other dishes which were nice and met our expectations. The staff were friendly and the restaurant was spacious. I noticed a karaoke system on one side, which I assume is for later in the night.Parking is aplenty, and it's right in the heart of International Avenue.“
“Can't believe I missed this small gem in my 3 years working nearby. Stopped there once to bet a Viet sub and loved it! The server lady was super sweet and kind. The service was quick and easy .As others mentioned, unless you're coming from south of Macleod, it can be a bit confusing but totally worth the drive. Can't wait to try more of their food!“
“The Vietnamese dessert here is absolutely amazing. The coffee dessert (fantastic che) was mind-blowingly good!. Refreshing in the mouth and a blast coffee flavours!! The Viet Panna Cotta was equally delicious and refreshing!! Remind me of a good authentic Vietnamese che made at home with mom.Definitely will return and try other flavours of che.The staff for super friendly and helpful. Love their online order system. Fast and efficient!“
“Came here on a Tuesday afternoon at 12:20PM and there was plenty of seating available. I was highly recommended by 2 separate friends that this is THE spot in town for pho.I ordered #1 Pho Xuan Special and it was one of the best bowls of pho that I've had and very affordable ($12-$15.50). The broth tasted very clean and homey, being not too salty or full of MSG. I got the small size it was a great portion with plenty of noodles. We also ordered the spring rolls which were perfect in size and flavour. I also ordered the fresh durian milkshake which was delicious.Highly recommend for a great vowl of pho when in Calgary and would come back to try other items.“
“This was recommended by a co-worker and he is right, this is the best Banh Mi place in Calgary. My husband and I ordered beef satay, chicken & beef satay and 2 iced coffee. Everything was soooo delicious. It’s sad that they didn’t have steamed bun available when we were there.“
“Love their beef sate! After speaking with the owner who LEARNED how to cook when she came to Canada just so she could eat the authentic Vietnamese subs she used to have was impressive. She said all of her menu items are all of her recipes. You could taste the value for sure and the portions they put in their subs are always generous compared to other places I've tried. Understandably, she had to raise her prices due to inflation. But as long as she doesn't go too crazy, I'm happy to keep supporting her business!“
“I've had a LOT of pho in my life. There's no bad pho, but there's mid pho and there's creative new-style pho... This is neither.Uncle Ten's pho is hands-down the best I've had in Canada so far. Tripe is minced nicely like noodles, rare flank is tender and tendon are perfectly chewy, not too soft. And of course the soul of pho, the broth, is perfect. Star anise in there, you just want to forget you're in a restaurant and finish that bowl by drinking from it.10/10 I will be back, this is a place that cares about food.“
“Really great pork belly skewers, shaken beef and cocktails.Next time to try a few new things I’ll order banh mi and the carpaccio - a lot of great stuff on the menu. The Morning in Hanoi cocktail was great (like an espresso martini but Vietnamese coffee). The Pandan Painkiller cocktail put me in the tiki mood - excellent. The Out of Office bourbon cocktail wasn’t different enough to order again, and the spring rolls were… fine, just nothing super elevated like the rest of their bites.Awesome atmosphere and vibe.“
“Delicious Vietnamese food! The pho is amazing, the broth is so good. I love the rare beef and it's worth adding the extra veggies to make the soup even more filling. The pork spring rolls are really good too. The owners are so kind, you can tell they really appreciate their customers. Highly recommend!“
“Really good vermicelli bowls with really tasty BBQ meat and the Pho is good as well. My favorite Vermicelli bowl in the city by far.Parking: 5 or 6 spots available in a lot next to and east of the restaurant. Free street parking after 6 and Sundays, paid otherwise.“
“Viet Bites offers friendly and warm service and menu options that are a bit more unique and special compared to most other Vietnamese restaurants in town. The egg coffee in particular was delicious and heartening. Only downside is not much dining space so might be better for takeout.“
“Had a great time dining here! Came with a bigger group of people and even though we had a lot of orders our server was super friendly, accommodating and did his best to get the food out asap. Food was great. Will definitely come again! They also give 10% off for university students if you show them your card.“
“Ever since I’ve discovered the tofu kimchi sub here, I’ve been driving across town to get my fix;). I don’t know what secret sauce they put into this but I literally crave it now. I don’t usually get the subs because I’ve tried them all before (they’re pretty much the same everywhere you go) but if you haven’t tried this sub before, even if you’re not a vegetarian, I highly recommend it…but be cautious as you may get totally addicted to it after your first try!“
“I have been going here since I was a kid and now as an adult I bring everyone I know here. Tony and his staff are amazing - super friendly and accommodating. Their food is fantastic - best vietnamese in the city by far. The food is consistently great, comes out fast and never fails to satisfy with their big portions. Everything on the menu is flavourful and delicious! This restaurant is one of my long time standing favourites! Check it out! You won't regret it! Thanks Essence of Saigon for being an amazing no-brainer to go to!“
“We tried the house special, sate beef pho and spring rolls. The spring rolls were average but we liked the rice noodles because they were more al dente than soft. The sate is broth rather than thick and peanutty. We would return if in the vicinity!“
“Im so happy they survived the pandemic!! The subs are still as good as i remembered it and glad its close to my office. Their buns are absolutely the best as super crunchy but super soft at tbe same time. I find the bun can make it or break it when it comes to a good banh mi sandwich. One thing to note is that their prices have gone up, as im sure all businesses, with the rise of food costs and inflation. My assorted was $14 before gst and tip. The owners are super friendly and i love going there.“
“Lam Pham’s Pure Street Food is a contemporary take on casual Vietnamese dishes. Although the dark and plain interior isn’t the most welcoming environment, Pure Vietnamese food will blow your mind. Located at First Street Market, the highlight of the menu is the beef pho with sliced beef, brisket, beef ball, tendon and spicy sate broth. It is the best pho I’ve ever tried thanks to its savory broth. If you can’t eat pho every day, there is always the No. 4 Hu Tieu Mi Kho noodle bowl with char siu pork ground pork, and a crispy pork spring rolls. It’s a drug!“
“The staff here are very friendly and all work very hard to provide the best service they can even when the bar is packed the staff all have a smile on their faces. Amazing local and out of town bands are booked regularly and the library in the basement is very cool 10/10 would recommend to any of my friends looking for a safe but fun environment to drink and see some awesome bands! They also throw a free rave in the basement every Wednesday!!!“
“"Pho City is a hidden gem in Calgary downtown, serving up some of the best Vietnamese cuisine in the area. From their mouthwatering pho soups to their delectable Vietnamese subs, every dish is bursting with authentic flavors and made with care. The pho here is simply irresistible – rich, flavorful broth paired with fresh herbs and tender meats make for a comforting and satisfying meal every time. Their Vietnamese subs are equally impressive, with crispy baguettes filled with a perfect balance of savory meats, crunchy vegetables, and zesty sauces. One of the things I love most about Pho City is their daily specials. It's always exciting to see what new and innovative dishes they have to offer, keeping each visit fresh and exciting. The service here is top-notch, with friendly staff who are always ready to accommodate any requests. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner, Pho City never disappoints. If you're craving delicious Vietnamese cuisine in Calgary, look no further than Pho City – you won't be disappointed!"“
“Delicious banh mi! The lovely lady working there suggested what the popular items were and we went with satay beef. Fantastic! Bread and all the ingredients were super fresh. It is cash only but you get a huge sandwich for 10$. Can't be beat!“
“Tried the special house pho and the beef wrapped in leaf vermicelli bun bowl.Unbeatable prices here, wow!! $12.50 for a bowl of pho in 2023! The vermicelli bowl was $14. Portion size is consistent with other veitnamese restaurants charging a lot more.Service was very fast and hospital.Wide variety of items that include banh xeo, shrimp paste on sugar cane, quail, stir fried noodles, HOT POT, DIY TABLE BBQ, whole fish, and drinks. Can't wait to go back for more.“
“Great little restaurant. Quaint, seems to be owned and run by a single couple who greet me with a friendly smile every time I come in. They've even stayed open a little longer so I could enjoy one of my favorite meals after work, and always show their appreciation for me as a customer. In fact, they're as welcoming as my own family is when I come over for family dinners. The food is excellent. I always get the house special (stir fry on crispy egg noodles) because it's so delicious.“
“I've come here many times after work and almost tried every main on the menu.Favorites are Shaking Beef on macaroni and Tom Yum Pasta but lots of good choices. As long as you like strong spicy flavors and fresh garlic, you'll be happy.Family run restaurant. Owner operator always has a smile on her face and makes you feel like you're eating at a friend's place.“
“The food is so good, very reasonable pricing. Truly a gem. I’m not vegetarian but wow I was so full and it tasted so great. It was fresh and so flavourful. The staff here are so sweet and kind. I definitely recommend the bot chien and banh loi la bat! I’ll be back to try more.“
“my first visit to this place was on New year's Day and we were delightfully surprised with a wonton appetizer on the house in celebration of them being open for a year!even if we hadn't gotten this lovely treat, I'd still have come back as many times as I have since then because the pho is incredible and the staff are lovely.this is my new favourite Vietnamese restaurant.“
“Pho Kim is a must-try Vietnamese spot! Located north of Centre Street Bridge, it's a hidden gem. Their spring rolls, vermicelli, and pho are unbeatable. After trying many others in Calgary, Pho Kim stands out. Don't miss out – give it a shot, and let's hear your thoughts and recommendations!“
“I was delighted when my friends agreed on Vietnamese for lunch after we arrived at the airport before heading to Banff and Saigon Red Sky totally hit the spot! We got shrimp spring rolls which came out freaky fast and I had a bowl of pho ga. I ordered the regular size and this was plenty to fill my belly! The broth was perfection and everyone enjoyed their dishes! Service was fast and attentive and I'd totally recommend this place!“
“I'm from Edmonton living in Calgary. This place serves banh mi dac biet "cold cut" without teriyaki sauce, mayo, or asks you if you want it with cheese. Really good ratio of meat and veggies. The baguette is light and toasted to perfection with a light crunch that doesn't cut the roof of your mouth. This is how a traditional cold cut should be. Comes with a choice of one spring roll or Vietnamese coffee for free. Great deal under $10.Staff is super nice. Super cute.“
“Lunch date with the wifey... A hidden gem deep in the NW, mins away from our place. Love the cozy atmosphere and the modern touch.Frist, the pork belly and shrimp salad rolls was very delicious served in peanut sauce. They used real pork belly and not just pork meat, elevates the the richness of the rolls... Sooo good!!Their Bun Cha (grilled meat in a lite fish sauce with pickled carrots and papaya) served with vermicelli, herbs, and greens was absolutely delicious!! Definitely unique and can't find this anywhere in the city.Very good experience service was excellent and staff was super friendly! Can't wait to go back and try a few other soup noodle dishes...??“
“Good food, affordable price, kind staffsSate sub has yummy, chewy taste full of fresh ingredients-cilantro,veggies,beef.Thai peanut soup was a little bit bland without sate sauce (given on the side). The thing I didn't like was how overcooked the noodle was. Overall loved the vibe of this small diner. Def. visit later for something else“
“The beef sate sub is my new favourite, and the shrimp salad rolls are simple but delicious. I have eaten here more than 10 times and will continue to go back. One thing to note is that it gets very busy right around noon, it is best to go early or late if you are in a rush!“
“Went here for dinner on a whim when visiting Calgary. It was unreal, the subs were absolutely delicious and pricing was so low that we expected extremely small sandwiches but the portions were great. We would definitely go back next time we visit.“
