My family orders here all the time because we love our favorites, but we also like to try new dishes as well. They use high quality meats and the vegetables are always fresh too. They take pride in their kitchen skills. The lady at the front always delivers exceptional, fast and hospitable service that keeps us returning. I always recommend others to try this place. “Please note that their lunch is not at $9.95 but $12.95. No idea why they didn’t change the banners inside to reflect the new price but there you go. I don’t think this is even legal to indicate a price and then tell customers it’s actually 25% more. I don’t think you can get a pop for $1 either and a bunch of options are no longer available. Other than that, the food is good and $12.95 is still a steal for the amount of food.

“Hidden gem of a local, family owned business. Fresh handmade buns that’s made with a lot of pride and love. Small, but niche menu, at an amazing price point!
Filling was flavourful but wish there was a bit more of it. Bun is nice and soft, not too thick but not too thin.
The owner was super friendly and passionate about her food, including the homemade chili oil. Which is mostly flavour, not heat. Glad to have this in the area! Will be back to try other things on her menu.
Seating is very limited, 6 spots, so be prepared to eat in your car/take out.
Lots of frozen, available to take home options as well.“

“Went in and placed a order and asked them to call me when food was ready as I would wait in my car. They said they were really busy and they would call when the food was ready. They said it would be about 40 minutes. 55 minutes they called. When I served the food it was only Luke warm.egg rolls I would get again but not the rest“

“Ho Won Chinese Food Restaurant in Calgary was a pleasant surprise - from the exceptional service to the absolutely delicious dishes, this place exceeded our expectations.

To start, the salt and pepper fried squid was an absolute standout. The squid was cooked to perfection, with a wonderfully crispy exterior and tender, flavorful interior. The seasoning was spot on, with just the right balance of saltiness and peppery heat. We couldn't get enough of this dish and quickly polished it off.

Moving on to the mains, the roasted duck was succulent and packed with flavor, while the stir-fried mixed vegetables had that elusive "wok hei" (breath of the wok) that we crave in well-executed Chinese cuisine. The portion sizes were also very generous, making this a great value.

But perhaps the most impressive aspect of our experience at Ho Won was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we had a great dining experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made helpful recommendations.

Overall, Ho Won Chinese Food Restaurant is a real gem. The food is absolutely delicious, with standout dishes like the salt and pepper fried squid. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable, making it an excellent value. “Tasted awesome! We ordered Chinese sausages fried rice, lean ground pork with green beans in spicy sauce, and fish fillets and tofu hot pot. The English translation might not be the best way to describe how they taste. The fried rice is actually a Hong Kong style fried rice with a lot of crunchy mild dried spices sprinkled on top of the fried rice.

Overall they cooked the way we wanted. It also comes with free Chinese soup at the beginning and free dessert at the end! Love them! Glad that they open late as well, 10pm. Will be back for dinner again!

Parking: The free parking lot was full. The day we went at least 2 vehicles were not parked properly so it blocked off at least 2 to 3 available spots! That’s frustrating! We ended up have to park far away on a street.“

“I've been heading here for dim sum for years. The staff are friendly and fun. The traditional dim sum carts add to the atmosphere. The food is well prepared. My favourite dumplings are siu mai. They have three kinds of char siu bao (fluffy, bun, and pastry). Don't miss the chinese donuts that are wrapped in noodles and sprinkled with sauce, delicious! The dan tart are also really good!“

“My husband and I have been ordering from Bamboo Gardens for years. My husbands' father owned a Chinese restaurant in Nova Scotia in the 60's & 70s'. For instance, the salt & pepper squid and ginger beef: the batter to meat ratio was off. Both had too much batter and were borderline soggy. Also got the salt and pepper tofu and the while the flavour was good, I just wish it was crisper. The dumplings were plump and juicy.“

As someone who appreciates good Chinese cuisine, I can confidently say this is the best place for southern-style Chinese BBQ in the city. Side note. I’m not sure what people commenting the food is bland are talking about. I guess they’re so used to msg and preservative filled food they don’t know what it’s supposed to taste like?
Also the whole meat to vegetable ratio? This place serves far more meat than any of the places I have ordered from within the last couple years.
Bottom line. Food tastes great. Portion size is great. We have found our new favourite Chinese take out.

“This place is a hidden gem. I heard great things about it, especially their noodles' great texture and authentic flavors. The rice noodle dish is made from rice, originally from southern China. I wanted to eat noodles but I am trying to be gluten-free, so I decided to try the rice noodles. I have to agree with the reviews— the flavor is very authentic, just like what you’d find in China. It’s spot on! Be sure to ask for the lowest level of spiciness, as that matches the spice level you’d find at regular Chinese fusion places. The owner is super nice and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back!

Curry brisket, pan fried chicken, Portuguese chicken, Hainan chicken, beef noodle soups, salt and pepper squid, and stir fried noodles are my favourites. Extensive menu, and are English speaking friendly. Can’t beat the price, flavour, authenticity, overall quality and satisfaction.
