“The best cafe I have been in Calgary.

The mango-coconut muffin and the latte, just amazing. The muffin especially, was perfectly sweet, which brought out the flavours so well. The mango filling in the middle and the mango chunks in there, just heavenly. Such a great ambience. Super clean, great service. While I was here, I felt like everything my eyes fell on was put there with so much care and purpose. It’s so great to be in a place that someone has put together with so much passion for the work they do. Because the entrance to the cafe is not through the front, but through a side door past a main door, anytime someone opens the door you are not startled by the road noise. As someone who loves to be in places with minimal noise interruptions, I really appreciate the tiny little bell when the door opens. It just makes the sweetest little ‘ting’ as compared to the loud electronic‘TING TONG’. The song was played on the perfect volume too, not overwhelming the space at all. A more selfish part of me wants to keep this cafe a secret for just myself. But a better part of me wants everyone to know. And an amazing cafe like this makes me want to get a loudspeaker out and just scream out the great things about this place, till everyone gets Frida’s mango muffins.“

“I have tried a lot of matcha in Calgary and surrounding area but Cafe Eight takes the top spot for my favourite matcha outside of Japan! They are always consistent and reliably delicious. Just look at that colour! The staff are friendly and welcoming, as is the clean modern decor. I highly recommend the iced strawberry or mango matcha. And thank you to the owner for reminding my husband that I like it with oat milk! ☺“

“Nice unexpected find. Been coming to Calgary for years and on previous stays this location was always a Starbucks, happy this year to find this place.

As always tried the cafe mocha which was great, glad to have a nice coffee shop attached to the hotel, makes mornings much smoother lol“

“The barista was so nice and helpful! The pastries were delicious (almond croissant, cookie and a spinach and feta pastry) and flakey. I asked about gluten free options for a friend and staff was so educated and honest, they had gluten free but couldn’t guarantee it had never been touched by flour, it was so nice to have that information as my friend is extremely sensitive. Overall a 10/10“

“Monogram has always been top of my list when going for coffee. The individual who dialled in the espresso on March 8th for the 8am shift, I have officially had the best traditional Macchiato of my life. No notes and perfection.

“Over a couple of years, my husband and I love stopping by Crystie's for a bit to eat and a coffee before or after we head out to the near by riverwalk. Yesterday, my friend and I stopped by your coffee house to get in from the cold. We enjoyed getting caught up while enjoyed a good latte and matcha in front of your fireplace. The cookie and loaf were good too! We can't wait to come again!!“

(Their award winning Vegetable Quiche is my second favourite dish). I paired the pie with their delicious Sweet Potato soup and had Gravity’s Coffee flavour “Insomnia”. It was pay what you want for the coffee day. I cannot rave more about this place. The staff are always cheerful and welcoming. The owner, Andy is so supportive of myself and other local Musicians. There is an amazing Jazz Jam here on Sundays from approximately 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. (Don’t quote me on the time though.) This place is awesome!“

My son inhaled the smash burger and my daughter's hot chocolate had a little whipped cream mustache situation that made the whole table laugh. The place has a nice casual vibe with enough space that we didn't feel like we were bothering other tables with two restless kids. Parking right out front made the whole stop quick and easy, exactly what you want on a busy weekend.“
