“Our family brought us to this lovely gem of a sport for our 37th Anniversary dinner. While very unassuming it did not disappoint.. We started with the Calamari which was delicious. All of our entrees where also very delicious. I had the steak and it was done to perfection and very tasty. The same was true of the salmon, chicken breast and the hot chicken sandwich . The servers where very attentive and made sure every one was happy, which we where. To top off a special dinner the staff brought a complimentary sampling of their house made ice cream. FANTASTIC. “First visit to Calgary, we're walking down the Center street looking for grub. We fall upon the Local Public Eatery. Quick check up on Facebook and it's very well rated. in we went. Decor is like a Ranch meets Sports Bar. Warm and welcoming. Great staff with wonderful service. You can also play Jenga while you wait. • Good Burger but not mind-blowing. utilitarian. • VERY GOOD Onion rings. So much so, we had seconds. • My girlfriend had the Steak + Frite. The fries looked a little anemic but turned out great. crunchy but not dry and very flavourful. the steak was super tasty and was like butter in the mouth. • Accompanying sauces with the steak and the rings were also quite delicious. And we got to see a real life cowboy. In the end my mind wasn't blown, but it was far better than average and I would go again easy.“
“My wife and I had our wedding reception at The Lake House and it truly was beautiful! The scenery and the elegance of the restaurant itself are incomparable for a wedding venue. From there we go to the food. The food was absolutely delicious and all of of our guests praised the restaurant for the amazing options they were presented along with how absolutely tasty every single bite was. From the appetizers, to the main course, to the dessert and the late night snack, every single bite was spectacular. As we continue on the accommodating and excellence of service go beyond compare. Every step of the way the team at The Lake House catered to what our wants were and offered great advice and options to make sure we landed on the right decision. When spending so much money on everything to do with a wedding it can add up and you want to make sure the value is there and that you’re not over spending on one thing vs. another. They made sure that as costs added up for us elsewhere we really saw the value while still getting an elite, exceptional, beyond compare venue that just took care of nearly everything. My wife and I live busy lives and had a baby shortly after our wedding and have repeatedly told each other since the wedding we truly owe it to the restaurant to make sure we sit down, take time and praise how truly happy we were with our experience in a review so that everyone knows and we can hopefully give them some extra business and help others have as spectacular an experience as us. Since our time there many of our guests have shared how much they loved the experience there and said that they could not think of a better place to have a wedding venue. We do live out of town so we do t get to go back as often as we’d like but our anniversary is just around the corner and we’re very excited to go back to The Lake House to enjoy this day as well. Sophie’s service was unlike anything I have ever experienced, not only was she attentive, courteous, and polite, she made sure we had more fun than any other table in the building! Sophie took care of a reservation for 30+ people and the entire time acted as if it was effortless. Her sense of humour was like nothing else I have ever experienced from a server. I will be coming back but ONLY to request a table in Sophie’s section!“
“Our party of four just had one of the best dining experiences EVER! tonight at Klein Harris! We opted for a “sharing meal” vs individual entrees and everything we ordered was spectacular…. Chef Jamie has a real talent for combining flavours & textures….he could be the winner on any of your favourite TV cooking shows! And it made me proud to know “Canadian Cuisine” could be so elevated! Christina is a marvel with the cocktails…forget ordering a bottle of wine!…you’ll want to try as many of their delicious drinks as you can! And if you’re really fortunate, Justin will be your server… attentive, personable, professional…trust his suggestions and you won’t go wrong! Best dining experience we’ve had in forever! “Pigeonhole in Calgary is a fine dining experience in culinary ingenuity and delight. The menu is rather limited and some items are quite pricey so this may not be the place to bring the kids, but incredibly enough they do have a hot dog on the menu. I went with the Stracchiatella & Grilled Radicchio- an absolute flavor festival- along with the Grilled Broccolini and Cheese. Both were fabulous. Service was excellently attentive and quite helpful. Very much recommended.“
“Food was great but the atmosphere was a bit off. Battle of alberta game and UFC this night. 5 TVs were UFC, 1 flames game and 1 golf from our vantage point. “I enjoyed my dinner here but I feel it could use some improvements. The hostess was amazing and the server was friendly but seemed nervous, got the specials mixed up and stood next to our table during down times which was awkward. The artichoke dip and bread was delicious but only came with 4 triangles for 4 people. 2/3 of the dip was left so we asked for more bread. Please ensure there are at least 2 pieces of break per person. We weren't sure how we were supposed to finish the dip The duck 2 ways was the star of the dinner. Beautifully cooked, gnocchi could be its own dish and veg and sauce was perfect. The stuffed chicken was cooked perfectly but the stuffing lacked flavour. The 2 other guests said you couldn't taste the ham or mushrooms. The potato pave was a nice change from the norm The tapioca dessert lacked flavour. The non tapioca parts were the best Ginger cake was amazing. Very refreshing with a lot of fruit. * note the table had trouble reading the dessert menu. You may be quick to say “are they dumb” but having the title on the right hand side and the ingredients underneath was an issue. Our senior with us thought the ingredients were different desserts as did someone with us with a learning disability. We can't be the only table with this issue. Drinks were good and great value compared to other places Overall I would come again when the menu changes. It's a great learning environment but definitely needs some tweaks“

Definitely much better then a typical over processed Restaurant. Also the best Sangria I've ever had. Next time we will request an extra scoop of the vanilla ice cream to the Lava cake. “Had a lovely experience at the Cactus Club. It was our first time dining at a Cactus Club and we will certainly be back. Had a great brunette server who was training she was very sweet. Came during Happy hour and was highly impressed. Straws have a weird texture which minuses half a star and meat cook was slightly off so that minuses another half. Wish I could bathe in the avocado dip and truffle aioli. Highly recommend truffle fries and avo dip and maybe pair it with a peach liniowski ambiance slayed with the low light super pretty and cutie inside but the buffalo painting needs to go. why is it lit up? PLEASE CHANGE YOUR STRAWS. Maybe add a slip and slide or a ball pit to spice things up“

Great stuff but a touch overwhelming in that respect. If you're getting flowers delivered though, be aware they might not be on the table when you get there... disappointing but they came through in the end.“

“Donna Mac never disappoints. On our last visit for Sunday brunch, we had the Latke Eggs Benedict and shared the Apple Pave for dessert. We make mean latkes at home but have to tip our hats to Donna Mac as theirs are every bit as good if not better (it pains me to say that lol). The Apple Pave presents like five-star cuisine but eats like something straight out of grandma's kitchen.“

“Went for Afternoon Tea with a friend. We were greeted with very friendly service. Sat at a lovely table by the window. Waitress explained the tea. We ordered wine it came quickly and the wine service was wonderful.We had told our server we’d would like the tea tray with our wine to enjoy the savoury items. Then the tea later for the more traditional items.We finished our wine and still no tea tray. We had to ask when it might be coming out. It was over 30 minutes. We were told shortly. Meanwhile the tables on either side. One family of 8 and a deuce had both, been seated after us but were being served. A bit disappointing.When the tea arrived it was beautifully presented both physically and by our server who explained all that was presented. From the fresh scones with the clotted cream to the lamb tarts. All fantasticWhen we left my tea companion mentioned how lovely the tarts were. The manager asked us to wait and ran to present her with 4 to enjoy at homeOverall. Lovely tea. Just needed to be more observant of the timing. “My favourite restaurant in Calgary. I've been going once a month since it first opened in 2008-ish and have no intention of slowing down. The food and service have consistently been fantastic since the day they opened. Great staff and management. I should have posted a review for them years ago, but better late than never I suppose. Their burgers and sandwiches are incredible, and come with two sides (and an impressive assortment too). With food prices being what they are, it's nice to actually get your money's worth. Can't recommend this place enough.“

Chef Darren shared that in the latest offering, 36,000 people went in and it sold out in 30 seconds. You will receive an email for dining reservations and included are instructions how to get to Eight. Located at ALT hotel at East Village in Calgary, Alberta. Complimentary underground parking. Be early, reception will send you at NUPO bar before you’ll be invited over to the secret door leading to your seat. 2. FOOD There are no words to describe the gastronomical experience this 15-course dinner (with snacks) offered. All the superlatives can be used. Fall in love with the plethora of Canadian ingredients married into the greatness Chef Darren’s mind. Well intentioned sourcing of fresh local, farm owned ingredients in your plate. Each made great with time whether it’s the reclaimed dairy cow’s beef, cured bacon goodness — it’s clear! (yum) and rich chicken broth. From east to west ingredients, indulge in what each coast brings through texture, colour and scents. It’s a win after win, one plate, one bowl at a time. 3. PAIRINGS Truly recommended to take it! Lucky! 4. AMBIENCE Low light, one bulb overhead per person highlights the food in front of you. Across is a marbled island where the action happens. Leather bar seats, metal backing art at the corner adds to the mystery feel of the eluded box. 5. STORY TELLING This is a vital part of the dining experience. Chef Darren walks through the history of ingredients and how he came up with the course. Very interesting, heartwarming and funny stories to hear. 6. SYMPHONY The smooth flow of chef, assistants and server movements : cooking, plating, serving timing, wine glass replacement and bread offering is a flawless operations at an optimum (small) space. It was a bit of a walk from the domestic baggage area to the far end of the international arrivals but it was worth it. TAT for food preparation is pretty quick, but time to get sitting can be a pain in the tummy.The host that tried to sit us in during my last visit did a very poor job of cleaning the table before sitting us there, so we could barely put our hands on the table or even the menu for that matter. But Marco came and saved the day. Food is always excellent here and it can make up for the time spent waiting in line.“
