“Tonight I was in a party of 5 at my table. The group was my family with my sister as the visitor from Greece. Alivia was our server and she was so pleasant to us and so sincere with all of us. Her knowledge of the menu and providing us with reviews on the menu items was simply impressive. Our food entrees were absolutely fabulous and even my 87 year old Mom was raving about the service and food. We have frequented this restaurant a few times and tonight will remain memorable. “Thank you! Last night I dined with friends at Earl's--not my choice. Tonight at Joey's was a whole new experience--for the better, much better! Your prices were not inflated; they were reasonable (well, except the dessert was a bit pricey, but then I do not think I have ever tasted a more delicious dessert!) Albeit, we only had drinks and dessert. The waitresses we had the pleasure of interacting with were gracious, friendly and fun--just right! I wish I knew their names. “My wife and I had our wedding reception at The Lake House and it truly was beautiful! The scenery and the elegance of the restaurant itself are incomparable for a wedding venue. From there we go to the food. The food was absolutely delicious and all of of our guests praised the restaurant for the amazing options they were presented along with how absolutely tasty every single bite was. From the appetizers, to the main course, to the dessert and the late night snack, every single bite was spectacular. As we continue on the accommodating and excellence of service go beyond compare. Every step of the way the team at The Lake House catered to what our wants were and offered great advice and options to make sure we landed on the right decision. When spending so much money on everything to do with a wedding it can add up and you want to make sure the value is there and that you’re not over spending on one thing vs. another. They made sure that as costs added up for us elsewhere we really saw the value while still getting an elite, exceptional, beyond compare venue that just took care of nearly everything. My wife and I live busy lives and had a baby shortly after our wedding and have repeatedly told each other since the wedding we truly owe it to the restaurant to make sure we sit down, take time and praise how truly happy we were with our experience in a review so that everyone knows and we can hopefully give them some extra business and help others have as spectacular an experience as us. Since our time there many of our guests have shared how much they loved the experience there and said that they could not think of a better place to have a wedding venue. We do live out of town so we do t get to go back as often as we’d like but our anniversary is just around the corner and we’re very excited to go back to The Lake House to enjoy this day as well. “First visit to Calgary, we're walking down the Center street looking for grub. We fall upon the Local Public Eatery. Quick check up on Facebook and it's very well rated. in we went. Decor is like a Ranch meets Sports Bar. Warm and welcoming. Great staff with wonderful service. You can also play Jenga while you wait. • Good Burger but not mind-blowing. utilitarian. • VERY GOOD Onion rings. So much so, we had seconds. • My girlfriend had the Steak + Frite. The fries looked a little anemic but turned out great. crunchy but not dry and very flavourful. the steak was super tasty and was like butter in the mouth. • Accompanying sauces with the steak and the rings were also quite delicious. And we got to see a real life cowboy. In the end my mind wasn't blown, but it was far better than average and I would go again easy.“

“We have been to this Cactus Club lots of enjoyable times. We therefore decided to go there for our 54th wedding anniversary last Wednesday. Food was prompt and excellent and the manager arranged for a welcome drink of prosecco. Nice touch. The service by Jackie R was a 10-out-of-10 and we will certainly pay a visit to this restaurant again in the near future. Five stars!!“

It’s a bit expensive but worth the money. The ice cream bar only available til Aug 5 from what I remember. This ice cream bar should appear on the menu once in a while or only for seasonal. Taste sooooooooo good.
Will definitely come back for some other main dish or sandwich.“

Watch out for their announcement/s at Instagram and book at TOCK. I got mine in November 2021 for February 2022 dinner. Chef Darren shared that in the latest offering, 36,000 people went in and it sold out in 30 seconds. You will receive an email for dining reservations and included are instructions how to get to Eight. Located at ALT hotel at East Village in Calgary, Alberta. Complimentary underground parking. Be early, reception will send you at NUPO bar before you’ll be invited over to the secret door leading to your seat. 2. FOOD There are no words to describe the gastronomical experience this 15-course dinner (with snacks) offered. All the superlatives can be used. Fall in love with the plethora of Canadian ingredients married into the greatness Chef Darren’s mind. Well intentioned sourcing of fresh local, farm owned ingredients in your plate. Each made great with time whether it’s the reclaimed dairy cow’s beef, cured bacon goodness — it’s clear! (yum) and rich chicken broth. From east to west ingredients, indulge in what each coast brings through texture, colour and scents. It’s a win after win, one plate, one bowl at a time. 3. PAIRINGS Truly recommended to take it! As serendipity has it, it was Season 8 and Eight’s 2nd anniversary. The last pairing of Espresso, Licor 43 was replaced by a Ruinart Blanc de Blanc to celebrate with Chef Darren and his staff. Lucky! 4. AMBIENCE Low light, one bulb overhead per person highlights the food in front of you. Across is a marbled island where the action happens. It’s a cozy distance to chat with other guests to your side and still well-spaced to enjoy your spot (and your date!) Leather bar seats, metal backing art at the corner adds to the mystery feel of the eluded box. 5. STORY TELLING This is a vital part of the dining experience. Chef Darren walks through the history of ingredients and how he came up with the course. Very interesting, heartwarming and funny stories to hear. 6. SYMPHONY The smooth flow of chef, assistants and server movements : cooking, plating, serving timing, wine glass replacement and bread offering is a flawless operations at an optimum (small) space. It is a feat. 7. CERAMICS The handmade, locally made plate counts. The 24 Karat lined cup and the stacked bowl of snacks counts. It’s beautiful. Hello Quinspired Ceramics ✨ 8. INVESTMENT Worth every Canadian dollar. $245pp dinner + $145pp pairing (optional) + 20% gratuity + taxes Ending note: There is a no photo policy and it suits your dinner experience as you’re fully immersed into the story telling and presentation. You are given a small folder, tucked in is the menu + pairing details. Inside the folder is poignant essay of Chef Darren’s thoughts how the Canadian Reflection Menu came about. Take it as poetry! A map of Canada is inserted and handwritten in each province were ingredients used that night. Overall, this was a great experience. Calgary is lucky to have Eight. Well done! Bravo Chef Darren! “We have been coming to Oscar's for over a decade. Consistently good food. Dry ribs are excellent. Delicious flame grilled burgers. I had the steak sandwich tonight. Perfect. Living in BC now so i really needed a good piece of Alberta Beef . You will find it here and as it is off the hot flaming grill from Wellingtons with which it shares a kitchen it was good enough to rival Caesar's and Hy's Steakhouses. I have no problem travelling 800 km to eat here.“

“It was a perfect breakfast for the three of us before we dropped out daughter off at the airport. I had my traditional two eggs over easy with toast sausage and bacon. The two others had some wonderful eggs-benny. My eggs were perfect, the toast was perfect, the bacon was crispy, and the sausages were spicy and succulent, making for a delicious meal. Arlene was wonderful throughout the whole meal so thanks to her especially!“

“My wife and I shared the seared digby scallops for a starter; they were melt-in-your mouth perfect. For mains she had the duck breast with yuzu bread pudding, grilled bok choy, rhubarb and gochujang bbq sauce; I had the braised short rib in tomato & balsamic reduction with white cheddar mashed potatoes and broccolini. Both were plated beautifully, served at the right temperature, and done just right. Everything paired well with a Kiona Vineyards Riesling 2022. For dessert we shared a matcha cheese cake with cookie crumb, yuzu chantilly, and micro anise. Our server was pleasantly attentive throughout the evening, answered all of our questions about the menu, and handled our table of 8 efficiently. The interior is beautiful! We had a superb experience overall.“

“A premium lounge for a VIP experience. This place was by far the best place to view the grand stand show and the Chuck wagon races. The food was amazing the cocktails were creative and very well crafted. Both the chef and bartender were on point. I have seen the grandstand a couple times and it was great. 2019 'trailblazer ' show was absolutely incredible.“

The selection of the brunch items was outstanding from Large shrimp to tender beef. There was a vey nice selection of desserts. We all thought is was great value for the money. “Tonight we went to Sky 360 to celebrate our daughter in heaven on her 6th birthday. When our waitress asked if we were celebrating something special we mentioned it was our oldest daughter’s 6th birthday but didn’t tell her she had passed away as we didn’t want to make her uncomfortable. As she watched us celebrate our daughter Piper and noticed she wasn’t there but her 3 year old little sister was I think she must have caught on. Her intuition and compassion was absolutely incredible. The service was amazing in general but our server Devon went above and beyond to make a hard night so special as she surprised us with candles on all our deserts to blow out for our daughter, and the most heart felt comments wishing her a happy birthday. This was the most incredible experience we could have had on such a hard day. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was amazing, and Devon seriously deserves some sort of raise!
