It’s a place for those who haven’t had real mochi donuts. They are quite thick and doughy contrary to the ones I have tasted in Asian countries. I like that there are many flavours to choose from but I feel the dough could use some tweaks. Additionally, they are a bit overpriced. I understand that the cost of materials is not cheap but the pricing seems a bit over the top.

After reading good reviews, I decided to try this mochi donut. It's a small shop in Chinatown area in Calgary. I went there a little after 11am. Ordered black sesame flavor, it's so good. It's chewy inside and crispy outside. The glaze is not too sweet. This is the first time I try mochi donut and now I'm a big fan. Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic mochi doughnuts that change flavours every week. When fresh, they’re bouncier than a normal doughnut. There are also coffee and tea based drinks available. The shop itself has a back store that sells Funkos too! The only thing missing is seating space, but when the weather is nice, lots of people like to enjoy their snacks outside instead.

The in-house ice creams are great, we loved all their flavours. I tried london fog (earl grey) and Lychee Jasmine.. both were great.(As good as village ic but cheaper)Definitely recommend this place at least for the ice creams

Amaido Cafe & Sweets is located in Chinatown. It is very easy to miss because of its unassuming exterior. I had to do a double take to confirm I was at the right location ? the cafe itself is very small with only 2 tables and 4 chairs for dine-in. The donuts are very good, and I especially love the dough - just the right amount of bite, and the flavours are not overwhelming. The back half of the interior is where you'll find funko pops for sale! I bought a box of 6 mochi donuts ? for $20, and I also got an iced Chai latte. I would definitely not mind going back!

After having mochi donuts in Vancouver, I was excited to try the donuts here. Wish their donuts had a bit more mochi feel to them, I would agree with other reviewers that they remind me of cruellers. The glaze was good and the donuts and shop look cute. Friendly and warm staff too. Would try again if recipe changed.

Really good mochi donuts. It’s soft and has a nice chewyness. I didn’t buy a full box but wished if you bought 2-3, to have had it in a small box vs paper bags. They got squished in paper bags when I finally got them home. So no photos to share.
Amaido is absolutely amazing. We had the Oolong and Sesame Mochi Donut, cappuccino, lychee and oolong ice cream and matcha ice cream. All of the items were extremely tasty, and not too sweet! Grabbing a carton to bring back home tomorrow. The owner was very nice and pleasant to chat with. This place is going to go far and I hope they will consider coming to Toronto!

Had a chance to check out Amaido Cafe, I had heard lovely things about their mochi doughnuts and decided to give them a try. The selection and flavours were great, and the service was very attentive. My only qualm is seating is quite limited and there are a LOT of Funko pops etc in the back of the store, so be careful if anyone has sticky fingers after the doughnuts. They are also a lil pricey per doughnut, but I really enjoyed the texture and mochi-like consistency!

This is a wonderful place located in Chinatown. The mochi donut is amazing and the coffee is aromatic.

The baristas/people working there are super nice. And their donuts/ice cream are amazing.Unfortunately their espresso tastes like water. I’d stay away from any espresso drinks.
The front half of the cafe was nice, but the place in general was cramped and the back half of the cafe was a strange popfigure shop that looked more like a warehouse. The drinks they made were not great, like watered down tea with milk and a ton of ice. The staff was awkward and the music was really quiet, so it made the awkward silence even worse.
Great little place to get mochi donuts downtown. The lady serving me was very kind. The mochi donut itself was great, but it would be nice if they were able to make more donuts on the busiest days so they don't sell out so quickly.

I loooove the texture and chewiness of Mochi donuts compared to traditional donuts! They're also sweet but not too sweet, which is always a plus when picking desserts. If I'm ever in Chinatown in the daytime I try to stop by and have a flavour I haven't tried yet. This blueberry Mochi donut was a perfect snack as I waited for the C train.
