Great place to hang out and grab gelato. There are a wide variety of flavours to choose from ranging from pretty standard ones to very unique flavours. Besides gelato, there are also other desserts available, such as cakes and tarts.

Amazing selections of gelato and other Italian desserts. Great service.

Mango coconut and blueberry gelato is a must try. Tasted like I was eating fresh fruit, in ice cream form. Yummmm!

This was one of the most infuriating and disrespectful customer service experiences we’ve had in Calgary. My father politely asked to taste ONE flavour. When he asked for a second—which is perfectly normal at any gelato shop—the staff member completely ignored his request, scooped a different flavour without asking, and handed him the cone like she was doing him a favor.

When we tried to explain he hadn’t even tried two flavours yet, she snapped back with attitude, claiming there’s a 2–3 taste limit. Newsflash: HE HAD ONLY TRIED ONE. It wasn’t a misunderstanding—it was arrogance. Her tone, behavior, and complete lack of respect made it painfully clear we were being treated differently. It felt like we weren’t welcome the moment we walked in.
Whether this was racism, classism, or just sheer entitlement, it was disgusting to witness. No apology. No accountability. Just rude behavior and a condescending tone. Shameful. Amato Gelato, do better—or don’t be surprised when people stop supporting your business

Absolutely terrible experience. I visited with my in-laws who were visiting from out of town, and the treatment we received was shockingly discriminatory. Although all six of us purchased ice cream, when my father-in-law asked to taste a flavour, the staff member went ahead and scooped a full serving instead. When I politely clarified that he just wanted a sample, she claimed she didn’t understand—despite the request being made in simple, clear English.

What was worse was the noticeable difference in how we were treated compared to white customers. We were patient and even let others go ahead as we were a larger group, but the attitude and service we received were clearly biased. This kind of behaviour has no place in a business that serves a diverse community. Very disappointing and upsetting.

My first visit and I loved the ambiance.
Ordered for espresso and felt like I was in Milan. My daughter ordered Cream & Cookies ice cream and she is totally impressed with the flavour.
Will be coming back to have more and continue my blog.

I would like to try more of them but so far for me these ice creams are very very sweet, wich I could not taste the fruits or nuts, maybe one version with half of the sugar ....

Really nice place

Thought this was just an ice cream joint but this is nice cafe with a dine in option. Barista was kind and efficient and coffee tastes pretty good + was given a small snack.

I can't begin to explain how impressed I am with Amato Gelato. My dad was recently visiting from New Brunswick, he is diabetic which makes finding icecream places that offer no sugar added icecream hard. My partner and I also cannot have dairy. Amato Gelato not only has no sugar added, but more than just one flavour. They have sorbettos (dairy free) as well as plant based Gelatos. There was options for all of us.
