I was visiting Calgary and stopped by Arepa Ranch. The food was delicious and very filling. I had a beef cachapa and it was amazing. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.
Simple, tasty, and a place I’d definitely recommend.

Veggie bowl was very disappointing. It was a small amount of plain white rice, a small scoop of canned beans, four yuka fries, two small slices of plantain and a tiny salad. $18 for $1 worth of ingredients. It looked tiny in its takeout container and had no flavour. The girl at the till looked bored out of her mind. Most disappointing stand we've been to at the market.

Boredom struck, so I wandered over to the Food Haul and decided to try something new. I asked the guy behind the counter what their best arepa was, and without hesitation, he pointed me to the Pabellón. Apparently a best-seller — and now I know why.
Ten minutes and $12 later, I was handed a to-go container that looked innocent enough… until I picked it up and nearly dislocated my wrist. This thing was dense. Like, “small brick of flavor” dense.
Portion-wise, it’s absolutely worth the price. Packed with meat, beans, cheese, and enough corn cake to hold it all together — barely. That plantain, though? I’d honestly just order a tray of those as dessert and call it a day.
Now, fair warning: there is no elegant way to eat this thing. If you’re trying to impress someone or maintain dignity, this is not your moment. It’s messy, gooey, and glorious. Bring napkins. Bring a lot of napkins. Maybe even a tarp.
Was it worth it? Absolutely. I asked for their best arepa, and in my humble opinion, I got a heavy, cheesy, plantain-filled masterpiece. But hey — don’t just take my word for it. Go try it yourself. Just maybe wear dark clothes.

food was fine, but i waited 50 minutes to get it (as per the timestamp on my transaction). after 30 minutes i decided to order something from a different stall; i waited for and ate that before my food was even ready from here. no fault to the girl working there, but owners: having only one person working at a food stall on a saturday - a stall where you need to prep and cook fresh ingredients - is a pretty bad move. it would’ve been ok if i was given any indication that they were backed up with orders, but i wasn’t told anything. no reason to take more orders if you cannot fulfill them in a reasonable time
I had a their Pabellon arepas at the stampede and it was the best thing I had there after 6 days of stampeding!! Absolutely delicious and tastes homeade.
