Ordered more items than I usually do including the Grilled Pork Dumplings and everything else was very good but these dumplings were absolutely horrible! Way too much dough, even for Chinese fast food and they were tough and chewy and even though the pork filling tasted okay, the only way to eat it was to cut up the dumpling and just eat the pork filling - not at all enjoyable. I tried to fix them in a fry pan but that didn't work so I ended up throwing out more than half of the order. Please Bamboo House, I beg you, please use a different method of making these dumplings, don't let this one dish mar your otherwise good reputation!

I really enjoyed the wonton and bbq pork soup and the special fried rice. The wonton and bbq pork soup had generous amounts of wontons and pork.
However, the Sichuan chicken wasn’t spicy and had too much sauce that leaked out of its container, soaking the other containers. It made a mess on our counters.
The Cantonese chow mein was also full of too much sauce and would taste better with less sauce.
Both dishes were sloppily packed.

Most of the food is great. The egg rolls and pork dumplings are super doughy for some reason, though, and are not pleasant to eat.

Palace style chicken was amazing and spicy. Huge portion. Ginger beef was tender. Veggie Shanghai noodle had sauce and wasn't dry like most, lots of veggies. Ordered skip the dishes to Chestermere and definitely worth the wait/trip.

I have been going here for years and the food is always fresh and so so delicious. This is the only place where you can get true sweet and sour ribs that aren’t deep fried! Most places nowadays just give you all noodles and very little meat and veggies in their Cantonese chow mein but not Bamboo House. I live in Airdrie now and do travel for this fabulous spot on Chinese food because it’s worth it.

I ordered through uber eats at 605pm. Cancelled 5min later. Was charged $95 and did not receive anything! If you are going to charge me the full amount then you should deliver the food. I will be fighting this.

I’ve not been feeling well. So I decided to get some wonton soup to help me feel better. I’m picky about my wonton soup. This has really good flavour and absolutely delicious. Perfect for my upset tummy. I will order in again

Went and picked up an egg roll and a combination dinner with chop suey and ginger beef. Omg I was so surprised at the freshness and tasteful presentation . The ginger beef best I have ever had it was amazing the chop suey was fresh and delicious. The fried chicken rice with big fresh chunks of chicken . I would have to say this little gem of a restaurant is amazing, The fella who gave me my order included chop sticks a spoon a fork plumb sauce napkins. He was so polite and professional. If you haven’t tried this little place I recommend you do it’s not expensive either cost me 19.95.

TLDR: Wow! So much yum! 5/5 stars from me. We tried Bamboo House Calgary, for the first time tonight. I’m so impressed and so thrilled! Definitely recommend!
They have a section where you can list allergens and dietary restrictions and they will call you if what you ordered can’t be altered. They say they make everything fresh to order, so they are able to accommodate people’s dietary needs for many items. I’m not gluten free but they have gluten free options and I think vegetarian options as well.
We ordered one of the dinner for two options and it included:
2 spring rolls or 2 battered egg rolls. We didn’t want battered egg rolls, so we got the spring rolls. They were exactly how I like them. Crispy. Packed full of sprouts, cabbage, veggies, spices etc.
Chicken chow mein- delicious. It’s the kind with crispy noodles that soften as the sauce blends in.
Chicken fried rice- I didn’t wind up trying it. My stomach was getting full so quickly and I didn’t want to waste my tummy room on rice lol ?
Sweet and sour spare ribs- these were a surprise front runner for me! I thought my husband would enjoy it and that I wouldn’t like it very much. But it was a really tasty brown sweet and sour sauce and the pork was such a good addition. Some protein that isn’t fried, to counteract some of the deep fried stuff
Battered torpedo shrimp with red sweet and sour sauce. These were like sweet and sour chicken balls but with shrimp, so even better, imo. The batter was similar to chicken balls and the red sauce is the same. We really enjoyed it.
This is what was in the meal for two.
We also added on their weekly special-
Salt and pepper squid. It was one of my favorites from tonight. The squid wasn’t rubbery at all. It wasn’t fishy. It was perfectly cooked. It wasn’t as spicy as I hoped it would be but it has amazing flavour to it, that makes up for it not being as spicy as I expected when they wrote hot/spicy beside it. I will definitely get this again!! I’ll ask to see if it can be made spicier, next time.
We also got the ten wontons with egg noodles and soup on the side. But the soup wasn’t on the side. It was all in one container. But that didn’t really matter to me. I didn’t feel like broth so I just plucked a wonton out and put it on my plate. The noodles were cooked to just the right consistency. The meat inside the wonton wrapper was full of flavour and it is just such a soothing food.
We also got 3 fortune cookies.
They must have followed my allergy requests because I did not have any reactions from their food.
And now we have a ton of leftovers yay!?
Dietary restrictions: They have a place where you can put your allergies and request they call you if what you order can’t be altered. It’s great. I didn’t react to anything I ate from here, so they must have been careful. They state they cook fresh to order, which enables them to accomodate changes to the recipe for allergies or dietary restrictions.
