A friend and I visited Calgary for a weekend and randomly stumbled across Barcelona Tavern. We ordered the truffle pasta with meatballs (8/10) and the shrimp and steak paella (7.5/10). The steak was 10/10 - amazingly seasoned and cooked. The rice was a bit mushy but did taste good. The shrimp could have been better seasoned.
We shared the calamari as our appetizer. The serving was smaller than expected and we thought it was a bit over priced. We dined in at around 4pm on a Friday and service was quite slow. They did state that there recently opened the restaurant which may explain the delay in service throughout our stay.
Overall, the food was okay, nothing super special. We would not go out of our way to come back (when we are back in Calgary) but we did enjoy our meal after a long day of travel.

By far the worst fillet mignon in my life. They charge 50 dollars for it and it wasn't one, it was an off cut shaped to look like one. Very deceptive and the food was full of gristle and fat. The vegetables were raw. I have photos and will happily post/ share once I figure out how. 🤢🤢🤢

Went to this place to celebrate early birthday of my mom. Yet we got an unpleasant situation. 1st thing as we arrive we waited to be sitted but the usher by the door told us to sit whenever we wanted. After a few hours of us talking drinking and eating we even manage to order another set of orders of pizza, calamari, chicken wings and fries. Out of a sudden theres this lady came to our table telling us she reserve the table in which we were not inform. The manager didnt even talked to us yet the server have the audacity to move us in different table! And what! There offering us a shot of drinks as compensation! In which most of our group order juice and just one glass of drinks since were driving. We basically came for food and dance and this is a type of service we had!
Moreover as we came back to our table tired from dancing we have a fly in our food! The area we also sitted was dusty!
This place is tottally unreasonable oopps heads up as you order you need to pay right away! As if were thieves that will run away. Bunos part is theres no option not to tip! Since i planned not to tip anymore after the incident.
Well never recommending this place as a first time customer here. Such nasty service!!

This place was amazing. We greeted by our server, even tho there were many other unused tables, we were those people who requested a booth, visibly seeing it needed to be clean, she was quick and got got us seated right away. We ordered the lettuce wraps and the club sandwich. Which were both incredible. The fresh warm bread. It was definitely a 10/10. Definitely be back for more.....
