Delicious food especially the Bruschetta and Arancini and a fantastic wine list! The patio is absolutely beautiful, you forget you're downtown Calgary. Highly recommend.

Been going for years. Last two visits not great. Last night wine was not cold (rose) carbonara was cold. Server less than interested in serving us. Prices have gotten crazy. Very sad.

Not bad, but overpriced.
We had the oysters (***), which were large but lacked intensity. The tavola with bresaola (**) was very one-sided with an abundance of salty food. The meatballs (****) were small and quite tasty. For dessert we had the olive oil cake (**) and torta caprese (***) which both were fresh, but bland. Atmosphere was nice outdoors, service was friendly, but late.

Bonterra, you beautiful, reliable YYC icon.

In a city where trendy Italian spots come and go faster than a TikTok trend, Bonterra remains the OG // the nonna of Calgary’s Italian dining scene. She’s classic, she’s generous, she knows what she’s doing and she’ll feed you like it’s your last meal on earth.

I came in with my auntie for a lovely dinner and let me tell you… our server George deserves his own Netflix special. This man had the most iconic stories part stand-up comic, part hospitality legend. We could’ve sat there for hours just listening to him talk about all the cool serving stories he had.

He picked out most of our meal, including the arancini which we normally skip because it’s so hit or miss at most places. But THIS arancini? This was not food. This was a divine dairy miracle. Straight from the cheese gods. Gooey, golden, flavorful perfection. George knew.

And then came the carbonara a dish that was once named one of the best pastas in Calgary by Avenue Magazine back when I first moved here. Years later? Still holds up. Creamy, salty, perfectly twirled heaven. I would fight someone over the last cheesy bite.

To close it out, we sipped their house-made limoncello (which should be bottled and sold danm so good) and nibbled on this caramelized white chocolate situation the chef sent out like a secret little bonus treat and I’m genuinely upset that I don’t have a stash of it at home. It’s addictive. Dangerous. Illegal in some provinces probably.

Bottom line: Bonterra is the real deal. The forever favorite. And George? He’s the cherry on top of an already perfect plate of pasta

I recently dined at Bonterra Trattoria in Calgary and had a delightful experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with rustic decor and a cozy atmosphere that made for a memorable evening. I started with the arancini, which were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, bursting with flavor. For the main course, I opted for the linguine carbonara with wild boar bacon, and it did not disappoint. The pasta was perfectly cooked, and the combination of flavors was rich and satisfying. The service was attentive and friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Bonterra Trattoria offers authentic Italian cuisine in a charming setting, and I look forward to returning to explore more of their menu.

First time going and was not disappointed! The food was amazing and so was the service. Our server Shane really created a memorable night and we’ll be back for sure! The Lamb and Bruschetta were standout dishes that I’d highly recommend

Going to Bonterra is always a treat which is why I have only been for special occasions. My last visit was no different and was amazing as always. The food, the serving staff and the environment really does a fantastic job of bringing this entire experience to the top of what you'd expect on a special night out.

Great service! We were running 30 mins late for our reservations and they were very accommodating! The food was delicious. Order any of the pasta dishes and you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely blown away by the level of service we received from Tatyana during our late-night visit to Bonterra on April 23. She didn’t just take care of us—she elevated the entire experience with a level of warmth, thoughtfulness, and genuine care that you don’t come across often.

From the moment we sat down, Tatyana made us feel like we were the only two people in the world. Her energy was magnetic—welcoming but never overbearing—and somehow, she read exactly what we needed before we even said it. She guided us to a perfect wine that paired effortlessly with the mood of our night, then followed it up with a dessert recommendation that felt like it had been crafted just for us.

This wasn’t just drinks. This was hospitality at its highest level—intentional, joyful, and full of heart. Tatyana didn’t serve us drinks she gave us a memory. We’ll be back for that feeling alone. Bonterra, you’ve got a star on your team. Don’t let her go.

A reservation was booked for the party of seven and we were seated quickly. Service to our table was lacking in many areas unfortunately. The restaurant did not appear to be that busy, many tables still open and no private reservations apparent. The service was slow with all of this considered and disorganized. The portion sizes were small and even with ordering appitizers and meals we were hungry afterwards. The dish I ordered was ok, again for the price, I expected more. The broccolini included was weirdly bitter and it was mainly stocks included and a small portion of it.

I came here a little while ago with my family while my mum was visiting town. We really wanted to try something new and I had heard great reviews on this place so I booked a reservation. The server went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience, and the food was to die for! Highly recommend and will be coming back very soon.
