Upbeat club setting. Nice.
Amazing!
See you soon!
Very poor customer service bartender was not inviting at all he tried to add drinks on my tab i never ordered talk about money hungry they’re very rushy worst bar I’ve been too when the manager highers employees I wonder if he checks for professionalism at all he had none im highly disgusted by the way I was treated and spoken too don’t waste your money here!
I don’t often leave 1 star reviews but it’s really disappointing to see how this place has changed since taking over management from Broken City. Some notes for management:
- why are you serving plastic cups on the patio? Broken city never did this, and it’s just going to go in the garbage after one use. I know you have the capacity to use glassware for dine in upstairs and it’s just lazy to be wasteful like this.
- you need to reconnect with the community that once supported and uplifted this place. Hosting trendy “pop nights” will make you money until there’s another hotter place in town. You are disrespecting the scene that built this place from the ground up (including the fine folks at Rockin for Dollars that made this place great!
- I went in at 4 pm on a Sunday and tried desperately to order a drink from the downstairs bar and there wasn’t a server or bartender to be seen. I even asked the kitchen and they said the manager had left and never came back. The one server on the patio was working his butt off with zero support.
- play better music. This used to be a punk bar and now it feels like a cheap student bar with zero culture. You were promoting a “patio party” but there was no DJ, no specials, and hardly anyone there! Not to mention that our group couldn’t even order any food because the system was apparently down and there was no manager to help.
Really felt like we weren’t welcome despite it being open and the middle of a gorgeous day.
Anyways I wish you all the best but there is clearly no heart in this place anymore. I hope you can turn things around because you have an incredible patio but everything that made Broken City amazing (staff, customers, vibe, music, amazing food for vegans and meat eaters alike, community) are all gone. Pretty sad to see!
went to emo night, they did nottttt play any of the emo music they mention on their site, probably why it was so so dead at 12 on a friday night ... none of the bathrooms had soap but they were cute
checked out their throwback night last night. the dj had a great set list with all the bangers but his transitioning needs a bit of work. the place was chill with a very diverse crowd. the staff were fine. the bathroom is gender neutral and was very dirty by 11pm. we didn't eat there. but it was a bonus that we could sit and have space for our coats.

Came here for the joey cape show. Ended up being early so we ordered food and drinks, and let me tell you both were fantastic. The hasslehof burger was sloppy as hell and amazing. But the star of the show was the fries, deep fried in duck fat and lightly seasoned with witch craft these fries could kidnap me for the weekend and have their way with me and I would be perfectly ok with it. You're missing out if you haven't tried the food here.

Went for the toonie Tuesday, great smash burgers for $2. Very good basic burgers. Would not pay more than $2 but great deal for a cheap meal.

Staff were friendly and the DJ played fun music the night we were here for BratOWeen. Seemed queer friendly. The washrooms were all gender neutral private bathroom stalls. They also had a photo booth which was fun.

I am deaf and queer, I was ALREADY kicked out.
It’s kinda homophobic, don’t come here if you’re gay!

Was a Sunday night on Thanksgiving weekend so there were only a handful of people in there, but service was excellent.

Came here with a friend to see the band "Fucked Up" perform.
The atmosphere during the day, before the show, was great! Happy vibes all around, with Trailor Park Boys playing (on mute with subtitles) in the background.
We both got dinner here, and both of our meals were amazing. My one note would be that the serving size of the french fries was too small.
Overall, it's a fun "punk rock" style dive-bar. If you like dives, come check Modern Love out!
