We came on a Friday night and there was an extremely rude waiter. Since minute one, his behavior was bad and rude. He threw the to-go boxes to the table when we asked for them and was walking around saying rude words out loud every time he passed close to our table. It was the worst service ever. It's a shame because we've been here several times before because we enjoy the food but with this person I guess it'd be the last time we come. He should be fired immediately. Shame on him! We ordered a porterhouse for $144. We asked for medium rare but received a well done. The manager actually came over and told us we we wrong. Not happy at all.

A long-standing Calgary tradition for a reason, I hadn't been to Buchanan's in a number of years but have recently wandered in a few times as it's next door to our daycare.
The food is outstanding, no doubt about that. I love the burgers, and they are $15 during happy hour which is an insane deal for a lovely early dinner.
The service is always so wonderful and friendly, very welcoming to us and our toddler. Overall a great experience everytime.

Going downhill fast the last few months. Boss figures he got food poisoning here a few weeks ago. Then today I had my food served to me with a soaking wet wash cloth covering my food. Really lacking attention to details…. Will be taking a long break.

Connor greeted us immediately with a smile. We knew instantly we were in great hands. He answered all of our questions and made wonderful recommendations. Myke the Bar Tender was also very attentive. He also made great recommendations. We will be returning and would 100% recommend.
Great spot for a drink or dinner. Rather quiet compared to other loud establishments, which is nice. Food was great. Service was too.

I loved this place! My fiancé took me here for my birthday celebration (because I love steak) and I had the most melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon ever! I am a sucker for Béarnaise sauce and it absolutely delivered. The garlic sour cream mashed potatoes were so creamy and tasty, and even the side veg, which I usually consider inconsequential, was impeccable.
For dessert we had the key lime pie and sticky toffee pudding; both were SO good and rich. We got some help from our waiter, Matt H., in picking out some tasty digestif whiskies, which helped us sit comfortably while we tried not to feel so full.
The atmosphere was nostalgic, with framed articles and pictures decorating the place to draw the eye and provide many topics of conversation. The customer service was unbelievable. Our server Matt H. was hilarious and attentive, witty and intelligent. We were checked in on at every turn from not just him, but others in the restaurant too, which really gave a feeling of being looked after from all sides. It's hard to find a place where everyone seems to care about you being there, and Buchanan's definitely has it.
This made for a fantastic birthday celebration for me and I will certainly be recommending it to others and making plans to return soon myself.

Went for YYC EXP had an amazing time. The 3 course meal with Caesar and Striploin was fantastic. Definitely have to go back and try the burgers.

Popped in to try out the YYC EXP three course menu. The Caesar salad was a bit of a miss but I enjoyed the wasabi dressing. Loved the steak and salmon, but the star was the toffee pudding. I always enjoy this place, it's a classic joint in a great location.
