My family and I visited here last weekend. I didn’t get to try all of the food, but what I did try tasted fine. However, before entering the food area, I wanted to sanitize my hands. When I tried to use the dispenser, I found it was empty. I asked a staff member to refill it, and she said she would, but it remained empty throughout my entire dinner. This means that many guests were handling the shared tongs and scoops without clean hands, which felt very unhygienic and unpleasant

Everything was great, we had a big table and my family was very hungry. We ordered using their table of 6 deal and we were able to feed 10 without issue.

We stopped in for their buffet but it wasn’t ongoing at the time. I tried to check online for the proper time that their Buffet is on but the site is 404. Please call ahead and confirm the buffet is available if that’s what you want (or you may be disappointed).

I haven’t been in a few years BUT we went this last week.
Got in to a table really quickly.

Started out with some choices and was enjoyable. I asked that there be fresh chicken balls as the ones I ate from the buffet were warm to cold. I was first told they are new. THEN another lady took those same cold balls RE-cooked them to a crisp where you can not even eat. Hard as a rock.

We left hungry and annoyed.
Do better Yangtze.

The guy at the customer service was extremely rude for no reason at all, he was very racist and treat people poorly.
He was shouting for no reason at all mainly because he was asked a question.
Was drawn attention for shouting yet no one was arguing with him or shouting back.
Please if you’re racist, find a job that doesn’t involve engaging with people of diverse.
A little respect, and politeness would go a long way.
We walked out without eating, and when one of the ladies trying to solve the issue, the guy said let them go where they want.
I wish there’d be a zero star rating.

The guy receiving us was very rude and very racist. We asked if we could get another table and instead of explaining to us the curtesy of the tables’ arrangement or why we couldn’t change tables, he started yelling at us and in a very patronizing manner and we had little kids with us, then just walked off and left us hanging. There were customers before us and non of them were addressed the way we were being addressed. He sat all the black families in one side (near the door way ) and other races got to choose which side they wanna sit on, and when we asked for a different table than the one he suggested he got mad for reasons known to him. This was not my first time here, and all the other times I was treated just like any other paying customer but this guy was just racist!!

We came here with my siblings and the guy that ushered us in was rude and racist towards us and so we left without dining in there. The ladies were sweet but the guy (I didn’t catch his name ) was literally raising his voice at us. Bad customer service from him

Took a trip to Calgary to see my mom. We went here for dinner. Nice variety and good food for a good price.

The food was good, the selection was vast with attention paid to topping up as trays emptied. I would say the price is aloud 5 dollars too high considering you don't have a drink included (was charged more making my lunch experience almost $30)

Let me just say I’m a foodie, I don’t normally have an issue with any food, I love it all. I am incredibly not picky. However:

Been here a few times, Food pretty much consistently sucks even when the place is packed. Sweet and sour pork and other typically American/chinese foods have pretty much zero flavour. Dunno if they’re going for an “authentic” flavour or what but most of their food is incredibly bland. Sushi is okay but the wasabi is literally watered down and has no spice whatsoever.

I don’t know what they do to their crab legs, it’s like they boil them to the point where the meat evaporates, there’s like no meat in them and they’re soggy and hard to open.

Seafood boil is usually pretty tasty, but everything seems incredibly underseasoned.

Dessert is disgusting. Literally the worst dessert I’ve ever had in any restaurant ever, incredibly dry, pre packaged “cake” that doesn’t change in rotation. No soft serve icecream.

Won’t be back, we found a better buffet with more selection, tastier, and almost half the price. Guy that takes payment has zero customer service skills either, and they’re always “out” of fortune cookies. At a Chinese food place?!

Decent food! They keep on top of it even though lots of people frequent this place.

Buffet Yangtze Deserves a Big Zero Rating. Our group of Seniors’ visits to Yangtze Buffet in Calgary was disappointing due to multiple service-related issues, which had soured what should have been an enjoyable dining experience for our trip. We were charged $34.75 included GST and Gratitude for one senior supper. There were 50 of us and we dined there for two evenings. A total of 100 senior suppers.
Food was of poor quality, being excessively laden with MSG, and generally unappealing.
The servers were unfriendly and argumentative about serving drinks which the restaurant manager had promised to provide. As a buffet restaurant, it was also shocking to hear complaints from both the waitstaffs complained about how much food customers were eating—despite it is a Buffet Restaurant and no waste were being left on the plates.
These compound with the service issues, which was a lack of attentiveness from the staff (The staff failed to clear dirty dishes from our tables throughout the meal, leaving all of us to handle the dirty dishes ourselves. A server was absent from the grill where beef steaks were served and we had to request for one).
When the above standards were not met, it felt like a betrayal. The fact that this happened even when the restaurant was almost empty makes it all the more frustrating. It’s especially disheartening when management allows a service charge to be added despite these fundamental lapses in service quality.
We made a polite complain to the management in the first evening. Since we had made reservations for two evenings, we felt that we would give the restaurant another chances the next day.
Complains to management had not improve the matter, but resulting with a more hostile treatment from staffs the next day. It’s unfortunate that instead of making improvements, the management and staff reacted negatively to our concerns. A buffet restaurant should provide a welcoming atmosphere where guests can enjoy their meals without being made to feel guilty for eating the food they paid for. Totally Disappointing!
We vowed not to visit Yangtze Buffet in Calgary again and advise people to do deep research before patronizing it.

So my boyfriend and I have been going here since our first date almost 2 years ago. We have always enjoyed coming and all the food they have despite the way their food is handled, and left out. Today that all changed and I honestly do not know if I’m gonna recommend going back ever again for one of our dates, it makes me really sad because my mom was suposed to finally come with tonight but couldn’t. Hopefully if she ever does go she has a little better of an experience.

First and foremost I got fried rice and a few other things including steamed veggies, fruit, and spring rolls for my first plate. Usually I put sweet and sour pork or chicken on my rice to give it a sweet and sour sauce. I got SO EXCITED seeing they had a thing of this sweet and sour sauce out to put on whatever you please.
As usual I put the sauce on my rice and spring rolls.
LET ME TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED I WAS IN THIS SAUCE.

First of all I’m pretty sure I can read and it was labeled sweet and sour sauce which was indeed incorrect or they simply do not know how to make it. It tasted like fish and sour. How is that sweet and sour sauce?

Knowing even though they clearly messed up with either labeling or straight up making the sauce, I’m gonna be charged if I don’t eat it! So I try to eat it and can’t make it to anything but the veggies on my plate and some of the fruit before I started to have extreme pain in my stomach. I went to the washroom for about 5 mins and can confirm that they indeed do not clean at least the female washroom.

I got out went up to the front to talk about options as it’s $30 something for each adult to eat and I ate BARELY $5 worth of food due to how their sauce made me feel.

The guy was extremely kind saying he would charge me as a kid because it was the first tiny plate I had and again I didn’t fuc**g touch it.

My boyfriend goes up to pay while I went outside trying not to throw up and the bill was still $60?

Told me I’d be charged as a kid which is $15 something. And didn’t even do it?

This place should honestly be looked at and at least held to the health and safety standards around food. It’s EMBARASSING they have so many bad reviews on google and anything you look at and none of these things change!!

FOOD IS LITERALLY COLD WHEN YOU GRAB IT HALF THE TIME. YOU CAN TELL ITS STALE AND BEEN OUT FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG. it’s a buffet yes. The food is gonna be sitting out. But how do they not even have proper heating lamps to keep it out of the danger zone?

I’ve worked in kitchens and been educated in how restraints and any food establishments should run. And if any health inspector came in without them being aware or prepared I promise you this place would end up closing. Find a Diffrent buffer to go to. This place is a waste of money. And has such a high chance of getting you sick and still being expected to pay full price after being told you’d get a lowered child’s price ??‍♀️

I really hope they read this as I’m going to call in as well and tell them pretty much all of this. Saying there is no reason they don’t have heat lamps that work. It feels like light bulbs to only see the food. And the price was told it would be dropped.
