Chairman's Steakhouse

As a steak lover, my search for the best steak in the city is still ongoing. So far, Chairman’s Steakhouse is my top favorite among all the steakhouses I’ve visited.

This is an upscale, beautiful restaurant right out of the movies with Frank Sinatra signature drinks! The service is impeccable and it sits on a lake so if you go just before the sunset, you might be able to see some great views. For us it was a cold wintry day so all we could see was snow outside, but I can imagine in the summer in spring. It must be beautiful to see the lake. The food is pricey so expect to pay more than what you would at some other restaurants. However, the quality is quite excellent and the atmosphere of the restaurant and the vibe is really special. There was an attendant in the bathroom and they have some really nice bathroom freshening things like lotions hairspray, etc. etc. a nice Service touch that I haven't seen for a long time . Save it for a special night and enjoy.!

Alright! Mixed feelings about Chairman’s, honestly. The food tasted great. I did find a small piece of plastic in my salad..not the end of the world..and they handled it promptly and comped our salad, which I appreciated. The happy hour pricing was also very good.

That said, the service felt quite slow and not up to the high-tier standard I expected from such a fancy restaurant. The pacing was off, plates weren’t cleared in a timely manner, and the food took longer than it should have. The wine we ordered to enjoy with our meal arrived after we had already finished eating.

I’ve worked in fine dining before, so there were a few things I may have noticed simply from being in the industry. Overall, mixed feelings..it could have just been an off night (we’ve all been there). We do plan to come back, and I’m hoping the service is smoother next time so I can actually enjoy my wine with my steak!

A wonderful experience all around. All of the staff seem to take an interest in your experience and the service was top notch. Sam was our server and he was just amazing. The food was great and the steak just melted in your mouth. High cost will prevent this from being my go to steakhouse but if you are looking for a refined, classy restaurant, Chairman's Steakhouse should be at the top of your list.

Dinner at Chairman’s Steakhouse was a solid experience, though there is room for improvement on a few dishes. The service was excellent throughout the night. For appetizers, the tuna tartare had a delicate flavor, though it felt dominated by avocado; however, the taro chips were a great pairing. My New York steak was seasoned well and cooked to a nice medium, accompanied by smooth mashed potatoes. The lobster mac and cheese was a standout, and the toffee pudding was absolutely amazing. On the downside, the fries were disappointing—soggy and much too mushy. Overall, it’s a unique, modern alternative to Caesar’s and a great addition to the SE.

I want to specifically thank the manager Maxwell for his professionalism and care in resolving an issue from our visit. He took the time to listen, acknowledged the concern, and went above and beyond to make things right. His customer service truly stood out, and I appreciate the way he handled everything.

We came for dinner and were aware of the dress code. In the summer we had been turned away for my husband wearing professional golf shorts which we were unaware of the dress code at the time. Although unfortunate as it was a celebration we understood.

Tonight when we were there we came appropriately dressed. However there were people there that were not dressed according to the dress code that were let in. One gentleman was in a hoodie which is explicitly stated as not allowed and another was wearing sneakers and a sweatshirt with casual design.

The dress code clearly states no hoodies and polished business casual.

The issue is the inconsistency why would we be turned away and others allowed?

I called and spoke to a manager who explained shorts are never allowed in the dining room
which is fine we understand. But how then is a hoodie acceptable? The response i received was a dress jacket is offered for those people but if there isn’t one that fits they cannot force them to wear something that doesn’t fit. Fine. That leaves the person in a hoodie that is clearly stated as not allowed in the dress code m. Why were they allowed to stay?

The second person in a sweatshirt and casual shoes is clearly not polished business casual, why are they allowed entry?

This double standard is beyond unacceptable. Either implement the code you have set out to its fullest or not at all.

I left incredibly upset feeling the unfairness and the inconsistency. No accountability was taken and the evening ended in anger and frustration.

This was my first time visiting chairman’s and it definitely will be the last. From the moment we walked in not only were other visitors judging us but sadly the staff as well. Nothing but dirty looks our entire time there, our waiter was very rude very aggressive. I caught giving attitude and rolling is his on multiple occasions, I even caught him talking about us with another co worker. I felt very unwelcome and treated as if we didn’t belong there. As the one of the only full table of black people there I can definitely say the stag there is judgment and racist

I can confidently say that Chairman’s Steakhouse in Mahogany is 100% recommended. From the outstanding cocktails and delectable appetizers to the perfectly cooked mains and steaks, every element of the experience was exceptional. The ambiance was fantastic, setting the perfect tone for a memorable evening.

A standout was our waitress, Kim, who celebrated her 20th year in the service industry with us tonight. She was phenomenal—truly one of the best servers we’ve encountered across Canada. Kim shared her expertise with the steaks, made excellent cocktail recommendations (thank you for making all my old fashion so spectacular), and truly elevated the entire atmosphere.

To top it all off, we enjoyed the best Carajillo in Western Canada and brought home some of the most amazing desserts: the New York-style cheesecake, the Valrhona chocolate & almond torte (gluten free), and the orange & vanilla crème brûlée. All of them were absolutely outstanding.

In summary, a phenomenal extraordinary dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Took my family there for the holidays, definitely overated, waited 45 min to be seated (with reservations), waitress gave us the menus then went MIA, had to ask a staff member to go find her, the food took a very long time and when it finally was served, it was cold and tasteless. Overall, not worth the money or time...
