I was at the 130 Ave Se store and was not impressed!! First thing I seen was flies in the display case where they have their muffins and cookies and stuff. Then when I look in the back from the cash register I could see a man using his bare hand needing the dough!! My first thought of that is i don't no where his hand been or if they even been clean before touching ! I will never buy another loaf of bread from this company. Buyers need to really pay attention and you will see

I’m a regular customer at this COBS Bread location and visit several times a week to buy bread. Most of the store reps are very friendly. However, yesterday I asked for a scone and was quite surprised when I got home and found it was extremely small. I went back again today for bread, and unfortunately, I was served by the same lady as yesterday. I ordered another scone, and this time I checked it right at the counter before leaving to make sure I wasn’t given another unusually small one, just to be safe. I totally get that not every scone will be exactly the same size, but it’d be nice if the really tiny ones weren’t the ones handed out.

Disappointing experience
My sons attend a school that receives coupons for a complimentary scone as they participate in a fundraiser through Healthy Hunger. When we went into Cobs on June 28 to redeem a coupon each for a fun summer kickoff treat, we were told we could only redeem one per transaction even though I have 2 sons who each had their own coupon. Nowhere on it does it specify parameters for redemption. One per person makes sense as anyone would assume families would have more than one school-aged child. So I ended up getting one scone for my kids to share as the principle of not being able to redeem the coupons was so baffling and unreasonable. The kids didn’t even want the same flavour but were stuck. This initiative isn’t required, it is supposed to be a nice gesture, but the experience puts a bad taste in your mouth. The employees let the kids stand at the counter upset, while continuing to defend the messaging they got from their manager about how the coupons can be redeemed. The manager, who I spoke to the next day, said she would “train” the staff on this, but in the next breath said they likely wouldn’t be running this initiative going forward, so I’m not sure what the point of training would be…In any case, I don’t think I’ll continue to support Cobs through Healthy Hunger going forward.

I never put reviews however, I feel the need to express my immense appreciation. The food at Cobs Bread Shawnessy is absolutely delicious, incredible selections and baked fresh. I highly recommend the apricot delight log that I purchased today. I had such an incredible experience at cobs bread thanks to the friendly staff and a young man, Adam, who went above and beyond to help me out when I walked in completely unsure of what to get. I was having a rough day and was overwhelmed by all of the delicious options, and instead of rushing me or giving me generic suggestions, he asked thoughtful questions and what I like (sweet or savoury, soft or crusty, breakfast or snack) and then gave me spot on recommendations, with such passion and knowledge (seriously, this guy knows his bread!) My experience turned my day around!! I will be sure to return.
