I ordered a side of grits, a piece of jalapeño cornbread, and the bacon 🥓 mac and cheese. This was a delivery order. I probably would have enjoyed everything better if I had dined-in. I didn't do express delivery, so the food was barely warm given the very cold temps outside. The packaging was nice. I really appreciated the portion sizes and the way everything was nicely packaged by the restaurant. My favorite(s) of the 3 items are the corn bread and grits. The mac and cheese is not terrible, but I think the sauce and smoked-meat together makes it a bit heavy. I'm Black American from the deep south in the USA and know the way these three specific items should be made or taste as they are staples in any respectable southern community. I'll try again but next time in person to see if that changes my assessment of everything.

Always have a great time and meal at Comery Block. It can get noisy but that seems to be all restaurants since they all moved to eliminate walls and fabrics.

I've been to over a dozen highly rated Southern style BBQ restaurants all over southern USA and can say without a doubt in my mind that Comery Block tops each and every one of them. The interior is super nice and the food is INCREDIBLE, not to mention a very extensive craft beer menu, I had the Carolina Lime beer and it was incredibly smooth and tasty. Will be coming back here many times, highly recommended

It’s one of the best BBQ places in Calgary. With a very impressive list of bourbons and other whiskeys, temptations to visit during happy hour, half price late night meat, the most important part is the food is good. Hot chicken review: dark meat was appropriately breaded, crispy and not greasy. Corn bread: seems to be made in a muffin tray, on the less sweet side, nice touch with the jalapeño pepper. Broccoli salad: quite good. Potato salad: very soft, almost borderline mashed once you taste it. Chicken burger: well worth it. Brisket: on the dry side but is offset with delicious serve yourself sauces. Service: very good. Environment: rustic industrial, busy, it works.
