Cornerstone Music Cafe SE - Music Lessons Calgary - Coffee & Food

This is my fourth year as an instructor at Cornerstone Music cafe. I greatly appreciate the sense of community in my place of work, the realistic living wage and the value the owner's place on their staff. Cornerstone is a fantastic hub for musicians, both professional and amateur.

This place is a gem! I first came to Cornerstone as a customer coming for the concert and dinner one Saturday evening. The atmosphere was beautiful, warm, friendly, and cozy. Great music and great food. I was so pleased with all of the gluten-free options. Then I started bringing my kids here for music lessons. Their guitar teacher was skilled, friendly, and sensitive to their unique needs. Now I also work here as a teacher, teaching art on Monday evenings. I love the community feel, The warmth and friendliness here, the relaxed and cozy vibe, and the support and opportunities they give me to express my own creativity in the way I approach teaching. I also really appreciate their approach to teaching, which is about supporting the whole person, embracing each student's uniqueness, in addition to teaching the curriculum.

I love teaching at Cornerstone because Sylvia creates a wonderful atmosphere. I always look forward to seeing my students in such a fun, well-run place. The parents can relax during their kids' lesson and enjoy a yummy beverage. It's so civilized. I'm addicted to the pour-over coffee and my family has really enjoyed all the yummy food I've brought home.

Cornerstone music is amazing. I grew up taking lessons here and am currently a teacher there now. It’s an amazing place to be taught something new on a variety of instruments, grab an amazing cup of coffee/tasty GF lunch, or read a book and relax. Cornerstone does so much for the music community in Calgary and is an excellent example of a top tier musical environment. The staff is super friendly and (it’s worth mentioning twice) the food is GREAT. Love it!

I’ve had the absolute privilege of teaching at Cornerstone Music Cafe for the past 6 years, and I can honestly say I’ve loved every single minute of it. This place isn’t just a music school—it’s a genuine community hub that feels like home the moment you walk through the door. If you’re looking for lessons, a performance space, or just a great coffee surrounded by incredible music energy, do yourself a favor and come to Cornerstone. Six years in, and I still look forward to walking through those doors every single day. This place is pure magic.

We absolutely love everything about this place! My daughter has taken piano lessons for a few years and we would choose it again and again! The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the welcoming vibe no matter what. Check it out! 🤩

Very nice and cozy place to relax with a cup of coffee.

My children have been taking music lessons at Cornerstone Music Café for the past 4 years. The quality of instruction exceeds every expectation we held. My children have excelled in their musical pursuits. We have had the pleasure of working with two talented guitar instructors over the years, Kyle Tenove and Linden Conroy. Both have been extremely patient, knowledgeable, kind and clear communicators. They have created a supportive and positive learning experience. My kids are always excited to go to lessons. The lessons are always on time and the instructors have been quite flexible in providing online classes if required. The kids have been exposed to numerous styles and types of music. My son has recently learned finger picking style and jazz, and my daughter has been loving learning new chords and playing her favourite punk songs. They have grown in confidence and ability over the past several years and we could not be happier with the calibre and quality of the instructors, whom are professional working musicians. We love the ambiance of the café, staff are wonderful and welcoming. The food is always great and the cooler is packed full of soups and stews to take home. The treats are to die for. There is a great selection of locally made products as well. Couldn’t be happier we found Cornerstone Music. We feel like we are part of a wonderful and supportive community there.

A hidden gem!!

I decided to try out the Cornerstone Music Cafe using the 2025 coffee pass, however it did cost an extra $2.10 for a small latte as here it only covered an Canadiano(Americano), coffee or pour over. I had never been before so it was an opportunity to try it out. I would say that the latte was much more of a cappuccino with the amount of foam on it and I definitely needed to add a little sugar to it to be enjoyed. I would say the space is nice but not sure that I would go again to try other things.

We love our little local Cornerstone Cafe! We usually go to meet friends or colleagues during the day, to enjoy the friendly atmosphere for a meeting or a catch up or to catch a local band.

The other evening, however, my husband & I didn't want to call it a night too early, and we were wondering where we could go for a nightcap? So we took advantage of Cornerstone also serving wine and stoped in for a drink and more lingering conversation before heading home. Absolutely lovely end to our evening.
