Deane House was the perfect venue to celebrate a family birthday over Sunday brunch. We were so fortunate to be seated in the Garden Room for the occasion, it was light filled, quiet, and intimate so we could enjoy conversation. I have enjoyed several brunches and high tea services at Deane House, it is always a casually elegant, relaxed setting.
Our server, Tyler, was a lovely, personable host, ensuring our every need was met. He was knowledgeable of the entire menu and thoughtfully suggested a side of potato rosti alongside my omelette, pointing out it was a lighter option and that I might want a wee bit more. The rosti was a delicious and welcome addition, it was indeed exactly what I needed to round out my meal. Speaking of the Fogo Island Crab & Prawn Omelette, the prawns were cooked expertly tender, their quality was evident!
Tyler chimed in with suggestions for my guest’s upcoming trip to Japan, sharing his passion and enthusiasm, he made us feel very well looked after and at ease.
Between five of us, we all tried different dishes and enjoyed our choices thoroughly. The brunch menu was diverse with plenty of options, for either breakfast or lunch and seafood items, truly something to appease everyone.
Amongst the group we ordered the Lemon Poppyseed French Toast, Fogo Island Crab & Prawn Omelette, two kinds of Eggs Benedict, and the Finnish Pancakes. We also shared a lovely plate of pastries that were freshly made in-house daily.
The restaurant’s commitment to sourcing local, sustainable, and quality ingredients, celebrating Canadian producers and farmers, is proudly expressed through their menu. I really appreciate the company’s values in supporting Canadian goods, though they always have, it seems all the more important now than ever.
Well done, thank you very much!

We loved everything about the afternoon tea. The scones were perfect. The variety of nibbles were delicious and the desserts were all very well done. Would recommend.
Wish they still served the soup and sandwich with it.

Came here for afternoon tea for a birthday and had an amazing experience!
They even had a birthday card ready. It is a really cute building and sat us straight away (with reservation).
The selection of teas were great and we each tried a different one.
My favourite was the green wild strawberry or earl grey.
Every bite of the tea was well thought out and tasty. My favourite savoury bite was a tie between brioche toast and butter chicken pot pie.
For sweets 1000% the apple cheddar blossom , I would go back just for this bite.
The seating was well lit with a view of the park and tons of birds. They also have a free parking lot designated just for guests if Deane House.

Went for brunch and ordered the Eggs & Sourdough breakfast. For $19, the breakfast consisted of 2 small eggs, 1 small piece of sourdough bread (which was very good), a small blueberry compote (but no extra piece of bread to use it) and a small round deep fried potato hash brown, which was very greasy, rather thin and which I didn't even eat. There was no no salad, garnish or fruit. Waiter was efficient but low energy. I appreciate the experience of dining at the Deane House, including the beautiful atmosphere and grounds, but I would have expected better for the price and quality of food. This was my first (and will be my last) breakfast here.

This is such a cool spot because of the history.
We went on a Sunday and you get a pretty good deal on the chefs 5-course dinner - so that’s a really nice option.
We did find the sitting area very cramped, practically on top of our neighbours.
We thought the food was really good - on the smaller side for portions which is typical for fine dining - but great assortment of dishes.
Our server was very lovely and educated about the dishes, the only complaint we had was there was quite the wait between dishes - like sometimes 20+ minutes - for the two of us we were there nearly 3 hours which was a little long for our liking.
**the scallops were REALLY good (first pic)***

Went there for afternoon tea. The food was decent, but it's a bit pricy for what it is.

I booked this for a girlfriends birthday and we had a really good time however I am giving it 3 stars to the food.
The atmosphere is truly amazing, location and view spectacular and the Tea was amazing. We had high hopes for the food but it was not our cup of tea.
We took a small bite of everything and it was truly awful.
While the server and the establishment were great, I would not recommend for the food and the price.

I booked a family birthday at Deane House for my niece’s 20th birthday. I’ve been here multiple times for Sunday Brunch with family and friends but this was an other level excellent experience. We had the upstairs room to ourselves with our own waitress. The food was excellent as it has been every other time, the service was fantastic and overall if I could give more than 5 stars I would. I’m sorry I didn’t get pictures of the food but I did get pictures of the room.
Oops one more thing, this is the second birthday I’ve booked at the Deane House and both times the birthday person received a birthday card signed by all the staff. That is such a lovely and appreciated gesture.

We wanted a special night. We hadn't been to the Dean House since it had been renovated and the good folks from River Cafe had taken over the management of it. We had the table d'hôtel The six course meal was a real gastronomic experience. Coupled with the wine paring, we had a fantastic night. The service was exceptional as well. Our waitress was really pleasant, helpful and informative. The food was exceptional. We got the experience that we came for and it was fantastic!
