DOPO has been a favourite of mine for a while. Came back tonight and was remembered by the bartender. Fantastic service, friendly and warm. And silly too! The meatballs were fantastic. The gnocchi quite literally melts in your mouth, something I haven’t seen anywhere else. And the tiramisu was divine. Forever a fan of what you guys do!

This is the best Italian restaurant in town. Make sure to book in advance, as it is very busy. The service is fantastic, and the ambiance is lovely. Parking can be a bit tricky, but street parking is an option. The restaurant is located in the basement, and the entrance is outside the building.

We wanted to have a great night, and everything was quite good until we got the short rib dish, which costs about $58. The pasta was good, but the short rib was just way too dry. I honestly don’t believe it’s worth $58. The portion was okay, but the quality of that dish was poor.

Be prepared to be rushed even with rez. Why offer cocktails wine, appetizers, mains, dessert and after dinner drinks when you won’t be given time to consume it. Can you enjoy a full meal in a hour and a half. Well I can tell you no. The waitress insisted we order our entire meal at once before it would be placed. Right then I knew we were in trouble. She was more drill sergeant than server. Everything came out very quickly despite us asking it not to. We were literally kicked out after spending 300$! No dessert or coffee. Found out at Major Tom’s later this is normal for the place. Food was good as was the music. The door was managed poorly as the regular host was not there. The room was lovely hence the two stars. Won’t be back as there are other Italian restaurants that don’t kick you out!

The food was delicious. Menu wasn’t extensive, just a few choices but a little of everything. Pasta was so fresh, we loved it! Plus it is such an intimate atmosphere. But beyond the food, the entire staff were amazing. From the hostess, to our server and everyone else. We were celebrating my birthday and our 4 month old was fussing. Our amazing server came to the rescue for a quick snuggle and carried our baby around for a moment so we could enjoy a few minutes of peace (and the meatballs!) Thank you again. We will be back.

We had dinner at DOPO on our first night in Calgary and it was great. The servers were very welcoming and knowledgeable. They checked in often and shared little stories about how each dish came to be, which added a personal touch.
We ordered the bluefin tartare, farfalloni, scarpinocc, and the carne alla griglia, then finished with the tiramisu. Every dish was excellent with perfect balance and presentation.
From start to finish, everything was spot on. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Calgary.

Have been here a couple of times and had great experiences. The last time however, the service was terrible. We sat ‘outside’ which was fine but it was very cold. They offered us blankets then didn’t bring them. We were barely able to order two drinks in 2 hours because our server didn’t come back to the table. No one once asked us how our food was, and it really wasn’t very good this time around. We had drinks made incorrectly and had to go to the bar to ask for a new one, because no one came to the table. I also let the manager (or who I thought was the manager) know about our experience on the way out, told her we weren’t looking for compensation, just wanted to share our experience.. she took my name and never even followed up. Unfortunately, we won’t be back.
