On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at around 5:30 PM, I visited the Royal Oak Five Guys location in NW Calgary. I ordered a little cheeseburger with mayonnaise and relish, along with a small order of unsalted fries. I ate the full burger but only a small portion of the fries.
About an hour later, while still at work, I began experiencing severe stomach pain and cramping. The discomfort was intense enough that I briefly considered going to the emergency room. When I arrived home around midnight, I tried to sleep it off, but I woke up at 4:00 AM with the same abdominal pain. A sip of water made the cramps worse, so I prepared some warm soup, which helped ease the pain slightly. I plan to see a doctor to rule out any serious concerns, but based on my symptoms, it seems consistent with food related stomach irritation or possible mild food poisoning.
I have been a Five Guys customer for over nine years, and I’ve generally enjoyed their burgers. However, this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced discomfort after eating here, although never this severe. I’ve also noticed recently that the patties don’t taste quite the same as they used to. They taste less flavourful and not as fresh which makes me wonder whether their supplier or preparation methods have changed. This is only my personal observation.
Unfortunately, after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be returning. The pain was unlike anything I’ve felt before, and it left me concerned about food handling and consistency at this location. I hope management will review their food safety practices and quality control to ensure better experiences for future customers.
Ordered 3 burgers to take away and when i got home 2 of the 3 burgers were still raw on the inside. I called them back and they said they couldn't do anything for me and that I would have to come in and talk to the manager. the next day I stopped by to talk to the manager and she was so unpleasant. she said if I didn't have the burger with me I could be lying and then she just walked away from me.
In a world where everything is getting more expensive is it too much to ask for proper service and a quality burger.

Went today in this area and had an amazing food experience.Definitely the Burgers taste great, manage to finish it along with my Strawberry Milkshakes, and the Cajun spice french fries is freaking good with ketchup than gravy!!! Had a blast and yup great service!

Just went here for lunch with my wife. Haven’t been in a few years for no particular reason, but a friend of mine told me that if you order a burger with bacon or cheese on it, you can get extra at no extra cost! So I had to see for myself lol. Turns out, not only do you get extra cheese or bacon for no additional charge, but they also have at least 15 toppings you can add for free like grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapeños and multiple sauces. This is exactly the kind of experience that is memorable and creates brand loyalty; all these other burger places literally nickel and diming all of us just because we want some extra pickles or mayo on our burger, ticks me right off. So Five Guys, well done, we will definitely be back!
P.S. they also have free peanuts while you wait which are salted in the shell, nice touch. 👌🏻

Although we arrived at noon, there was plenty of parking close to the front door and an accessible ramp for walkers and wheelchairs. Although there was an accessible button on the door, the wind was too strong to allow it to open without some serious tugging. Once inside we were greeted by a friendly staff member at the counter and they were very patient as we decided which double burger we would share. We went for the double cheese burger with lots of fillings and then indulged in a few peanuts while we waited for our number to be called. There was no mistaking when our order number was called out loud and clear. Our burger was cut in half, as requested and it was messy to eat, but so juicy and delicious. We shared a regular fries that had the perfect texture of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a bit too much salt to our taste. The serving was so large that we were challenged to finish them all. The restaurant was clean and bright, and great family restaurant, and the lady's washroom was spotless. Overall it was a 5 out of 5 experience!
Not sure what all the hype is about. The burgers were just ok, the cheese on my burger was cold and not melted.

I always order my burgers bunless and turn them into bowls since gluten isn’t my friend. That’s when you can really taste the quality of a burger—no bun to hide behind. Five Guys nails it every time. Fresh, juicy, and way better than any other burger bowl I’ve had, even at pubs and sit-down restaurants. My go-to spot.

Ordered 3 burgers to take away and when i got home 2 of the 3 burgers were still raw on the inside.
