Service was super slow. We had to ask our server twice for pretty much everything. They brought out the wrong food to our table. A morning breakfast at 930 am took over two hours. Portions were not very big considering the price. The huevos rancheros was doused in so much sauce it was all you could taste.
The service was very mediocre. Forgetful staff and did not clear our dishes after they had sat there for very long.
The server Rylan was great with explaining the menu as we had so many questions as it was our first time. The drink menu was great and the food was amazing!!
Service was tough- it felt like a hotel restaurant rather than a special place. I visited a year ago it was totally different less special. Our waiter was answering the phone, setting tables etc we felt like an inconvenience. We also weren't offered the patio or drinks, food was slow . It was fine but not the night we hoped for
Loved all the dishes and service was so lovely and accommodating for our kids and birthday celebrations
Thank you Fonda Fora for the tacos con Estrella night. It was so refreshing to have the delicious flavours of El Califa de Leon's flown into Calgary for this event. The tacos were delicious. The margarita was delicious. Please keep doing this sort of thing - it's so nice to try different delicious things.
Honestly the service was sub par, I was pretty disappointed. I felt like our server was so busy but I saw multiple tables she was taking care of waiting very long and frustrated. Not sure what was going on. I personally would never return to this restaurant
My husband and I were extremely disappointed by the Michelin star experience that Fonda Fora put on. We tried all 4 tacos on the menu (the only items on the menu for this special event) and they came out as 2/3oz slabs of meat on 5" tortilla shells and nothing else. To say the least, it was all greatly underwhelming. The price point was high for no finesse, garnishes or even a sauce provided on the tacos. They did provide the standard onion, cilantro, lime and two types of salsa for us to dress ourselves. It felt more like street tacos for 5x the price. Even the promise of the Michelin star chef personally attending and preparing the meal was a lie as he not there. Would not recommend.
I came in with a friend for the Tacos Con Estrella event which spotlighted Arturo Rivera's Michelin-starred taqueria menu from Mexico City. I ordered all 4 of the taco varieties along with the agave flight of 4 half-ounce tequila pairings for the meal. Aside from the collaboration duck confit carnitas, I honestly couldn't really tell the difference between the 3 cuts of steak (tenderloin, rib eye and top sirloin). The tacos were all served on a 5" corn tortilla with the meat, and a side dish of onion, cilantro and 2 types of salsa. I expected to have a bit more variety and/or toppings with the tacos to truly make the meal memorable. Seeing that the event was advertised as a Michelin-star quality menu, I was disappointed with the overall quality of the meal. I've eaten at another Michelin-star restaurant before, and it was a very big difference in the quality of the food. The meal was priced at an average of $12/taco and $7.50/half ounce pour of tequila, which I feel is fair for a Michelin quality meal. But I don't feel the quality or value was there for what I was expecting. I've been to Fonda Fora before for their regular menu and enjoyed myself a lot. This hasn't turned me off of Fonda Fora as a top-tier restaurant in Calgary, but I left this event pretty unsatisfied for something I was really excited to experience.
It was a bust night so service was a bit delayed which was understandable. The tacos were good but nothing spectacular even if made by a Michelin star chef. The price per taco also added to this sentiment. I got the Picante as a bev which was decent. I guess I was expected more flavour-wise as many of the ingredients listed in the drink description I could not taste. I would love to come back to try their regular menu at a better time.

We reserved a table for two on the patio for the Michelin Taco event and it was a disappointment. They never seated us on the patio as reserved. The server was very polite but with how busy it was it took them 20mins to come to us to take our first order and then it took another 15mins to receive the drinks. The tacos fell way short of a Michelin quality taco in my opinion. We ended up going down the street to another Mexican restaurant and the food was way better at 1/4 the price. We only live a block away and probably would never recommend another event that Fonda Fora holds. On the positive side, server was nice and the margaritas were delicious.
Well I hope this experience is better for others today than ours yesterday. We were seated and no one came to our table for 15 mins. We had to get the hostess and she found us a waiter. Ordered quac and chips - didn't ask how much. Big mistake $22!! Ordered the tacos and margs all were good. Ordered more quac, tacos and drinks. And to remind waiter on order. The 2 sauces for tacos were nothing special and very little cilantro, chopped onions or lime for 4 people. I hope it's better today or at native tongues tomorrow and sat.
Went for an event, Tacos con Estrella, FF was hosting a Michelin awarded team from Mexico. After making the reservation diners received a message that we had 1.5 hours to dine for a party of 2. Half an hour shorter then at the time of booking. Weird, but not a big deal. However, if you're turning a tables in 1.5hr and it takes over 30 minutes to get a single drink...(???) Servers were amazing, and the cocktail was very good even if the bar was slow. The food was fair to good. Good beef tacos but the duck confit taco unfortunately had a massive knuckle of bone in it which they removed from the bill. That was nice but we didn't feel like trying more. Would return to FF to try thier regular menu, but not in a rush.
Food was great and the atmosphere was good too with the mexican theme music. Service was a bit lacking considering that the restaurant was not so busy.
The restaurant is very nice with indoor and outdoor seating seasonally. The menu was excellent for gluten free options! Lots of vegetarian selections as well. You are encouraged to share the dishes. Everything we ordered (including the wine and margaritas) was fantastic!
