Had the best latte I've ever had at a bistro in Sardis, BC called District. When I returned to the island, the expresso bean I was buying at the local grocery store just wasn't doing it for me. Called District and asked them what beans they were using. They told me they only use Fratello Godfather Classic medium roasted expresso beans. I called the company and started up my monthly order and I haven't looked back. Received my fist order in the mail with a roasting date of just 5 days prior. Exceptional. They even had a master roaster call me to discuss their recommendations on grind size, weight and duration of the pull. He gave me a lot of tips on how to make my Latte's even better. Great customer service and the staff have passion and are very friendly. Very highly recommended.

I stopped by Fratello Coffee Roasters the other day, and honestly, I walked in feeling a little shy. I asked at the counter if they had any recommendations since I usually stick to espresso but sometimes do pour-over or drip at home. The barista immediately lit up and started chatting with me about their beans like we were old friends, which instantly made me feel at ease. She suggested their God Father Espresso Classic, their best-seller, and told me it makes up about 60% of their sales. That definitely got my attention, so I grabbed two pounds. When I checked the roast date and saw it was only roasted on July 31st—just 4 days ago—I knew I scored. Back home, I couldn’t wait to try it. The beans looked beautiful, roasted evenly and super clean. Dialing it in was almost too easy—I hit the sweet spot on the first try. The espresso came out with thick crema and such a nice depth of flavor. I tried it as straight espresso, an Americano, and even a latte—honestly, it shines in every form. I’m genuinely so happy I found this coffee. It’s not just the quality of the beans, but also how welcoming and passionate the staff were. This place gave me both great coffee and a great experience. Highly recommended.

Cannot recommend this company highly enough! Their service is excellent. When I order a bag of beans, it is always at my door within two days (and I don’t live in Calgary) and the beans have been freshly roasted only days before. Excellent quality.

I can confirm that the Shopify website for this roastery does not allow you to order coffee for pick up through the website. For that reason I will be visiting the cafe/roastery to buy a bag in a month or so and will update this review then. I will be looking forward to it.

Calgary cribbage and beer meetup
I stopped by Fratello Coffee Roasters recently and picked up a bag of their Gunsmoke blend—and I’m so glad I did. The vibe in the shop was awesome, and the staff were incredibly helpful. I told them I was planning to infuse coffee into a dark beer using a French press, and they didn’t just nod—they genuinely got into the idea and recommended the perfect roast.
Gunsmoke turned out to be an excellent choice. I used it to make a cold brew-style beer infusion, and it was a total win. The deep chocolate and smoky pipe tobacco notes blended beautifully with the roasted malt in the beer, adding richness without overwhelming the base.
If you're into craft coffee or experimenting with flavors, Fratello is definitely worth a visit. Great beans, even better service—I’ll definitely be back for more.

I've never been to the location in person, BUT I order from them regularly and send their coffee to friends and relatives who have not yet experienced a phenomenal coffee.
I got to know them through the Analog's coffee shop in Auburn Bay (Calgary) I used to frequent. I've always hated coffee. The taste of burnt cardboard was all I knew, and I was an avid tea drinker. They had me try the Godfather coffee, black, pour-overed. Man... I thought there was no way... but waayy.
(Analog and) Fratello changed my mind about coffee because theirs actually have taste profiles! You can smell and taste berries, citruses, tropical fruits, caramel, chocolate, toffee, etc! And none of it is flavoured, that's just how they expertisely roast it.
My favourites are the Fireside and the original Godfather espresso. Flavourful, not too robust, well balanced and smooth. I drink it at home with a splash of milk. I don't drink it because I need to, but because I enjoy it.
I think we got a gem right here in our midst. Highly recommended!

Saw the ad about buy 1 get 1 50% off. I live in Calgary and stopped by to pick up some coffee. I was told that the promo is only for online( does not say on the ad). I was told I can place the order online and they would just pick it as I wait. About to place the order and asked how do I get around the $10.00 delivery fee. Even though I was picking it up I was told I would still have to pay it. Really.... I was shocked. Not worth it. Lost a new customer.

Fratello is definitely among the best coffee roasters around, their classic godfather espresso roast is always my go-to. The storefront is a big help because they always have a fresh roast, even if you're only buying a 12 ounce bag, it's the best way to get a hold of some great coffee. It costs less than if you get the same bag but likely a few weeks old at Analog or a big box store. Not knocking other places but if you have the time or are nearby, it can't be beat.
Fratello coffee is so delicious. I’m always looking for a strong & rich coffee a hint of chocolate and the Godfather Espresso has exactly that. +It’s not “spicy”, it has the perfect amount of everything.
