Super cute little cafe! The food was yummy and coffee delicious!
It was packed on the Saturday we went so seating was scarce.

Amazing soup, sandwich and coffee + desserts. Everything we had was hot and flavourful. Wish this was something that was in my neighborhood as I’d be there all the time!

This was our first visit to Friends Cafe, and we’ll definitely be back! We went for a 6km run/walk around Edgemont beforehand, so we were HUNGRY, and wanted to try a bit of everything. They have a great selection of grilled paninis, deli sandwiches, drinks and freshly baked goods on the menu.

We ordered The First One and The Chicken One for paninis, a bowl of carrot ginger soup w/ buttered bread, a protein latte and a gingerbread latte, AND carrot cake and chocolate cake to finish. Would order them all again, but also can’t wait to try something new the next time we’re in.

This cafe is cute, cozy and a great pit-stop if you’re in the NW or heading to Nose Hill Park. We’ll be back!

Our Favorite Cafe!!

A delightfully wonderful little coffee shop and more.
The quality of everything is topnotch, including the staff.
The homemade soups are excellent. The desserts - wow! You haven't lived until you've tried their carrot cake! My personal fave.

Enjoy a mocha, capp and many more specialty coffees in addition to an amazing selection on their sandwich board, all hand crafted to perfection in front of you.

I can't recommend a single dish because they are ALL good in their own way. It depends on individual taste and preference.

We live way in the deep south past the 22X, so a trek to Friends is our occasional special treat for ourselves.

We love this place and highly recommend it. 2 thumbs up!😃😃👍👍

Reminded me of coffee shops you can still find in small US towns. First time I find such a cozy and 90s/2000s vibe in Can! Very happy such a place exists in the NW.

Coffee was good and pastries were fine but expensive for quality imo.

Kid-friendliness: A bunch of toys for the kiddos!

I spent a lot of time picking up food at Friends when I moved to Edgemont as a teenager. Margie, the owner was so hands on and really perfected the menu and her products. I had my favorites that were always hearty and large sized. I no longer live in Calgary but have returned when I’m in the area a few times since there has been a new owner. I just happened to be in the area and wanted to pick up a few of my favorites, craving those chunky, hearty galaxy squares confetti square and a few muffins. I really wish the new owner had not changed the portion sizes and not changed a thing. The menu is the same but the experience is totally different. There was a lot of chaos happening in the front and the employee who took my order took a large paper bag and just threw everything in it. He didn’t take any time to put the muffins in their own bag. He squeezed the top of the bag together and handed it to me like it was a bag of dirt. The cashier couldn’t figure out why my card wasn’t being accepted so when it went through she asked if I could open up my bank app to see if ur went through. I left opened the bag up at home and saw how I felt robbed. $25 dollars for five baked goods. They are all at least nearly half the size of how they used to be. Now they are $4.95 for something that should be $3.00. The bars and muffins used to be double in height. I know there’s a lot of inflation going on, but I was just at Lazy Loaf and Kettle and they have kept their baked goods the same hearty size for 20 years without any drastic price increases. Friends used to be at the same caliber. The sandwiches have also been a disappointment. Much smaller and more expensive. RIP Friends.

We have been going to Friends for years now - we often walk across Nose Hill Park and reward ourselves with a great lunch and great coffee. Oh, did I use fantastic and carrot cake in the same sentence?? We still visit often, and now I take my Mom there for coffee, or lunch. Great, friendly, and efficient service. Perfect neighbourhood coffee stop.

Dietary restrictions: There are options for vegans, gluten-friendly, milk options….

Parking: It is a small lot, shared with neighbouring strip mall, but we almost always walk, so not an issue for us. We have always been able to find parking when we needed.

It’s truly in the name of the shop. I’ve never experienced a more wonderfully friendly group of staff. They were so lovely and accommodating and made the time there feel special all for just a cup of coffee.
