This cafe reminded me why Tim Hortons will always have an edge. It was more expensive than Tim’s and disgusting. Surprised you call this brew coffee.

This rating only pertains to the food handling safety mis-practices I've seen today. I would not eat anything from here based on the following. The cook on duty was using his cell phone while handling food but what was more concerning was that the cook demonstrated to the other cook his pushup skills on the dirty kitchen floor and without washing or sanitizing his now contaminated hands continued to serve food to unsuspecting customers of the potential health risk. The other cook on duty was oblivious to any food safety practice violation that just occurred. They both urgently need Food Safety Preparation Training and/or re-training and supervision. To the Food \\u0026 Beverage management of the Garden Cafe seriously look into improving the food preparation practices before someone contracts a food borne illness. Your AHS Food Handling Permit displayed on the wall expired Sept 30th 2023.

I booked an afternoon tea for me and the wife as we love experiencing different places around Canada and internationally. This has got to be the worst afternoon tea ever in regards to food & service. The tea is priced at $48 pp but for what they serve it should be priced at $20 pp and that’s being generous. The quality of sandwiches is terrible and most of them were open faced sandwiches. I can’t believe they serve this crap and charge $48. The tea selection is also crap and they expect each table to have one pot and share the same type. The egg sandwich wasn’t too bad but not enough of it and you added no ham, cucumber or cheese sandwiches (the queen would be turning in her grave). Stick to simple stuff and traditional high tea instead of this fusion crap. Honestly you guys are getting away with murder with this tea and charging the money you do. Take a leaf out of the fairmont tea, noble tea house, bow valley ranche (all in Calgary or close to) and pull your finger out. You have such a great location. The cakes are also way off it. The chocolate thing was like a Costco tuxedo cake and the cream almond thing the cream wasn’t smooth or separated properly at all. Add some cherry Bakewell, Battenberg or at least try. Honestly take a look at the fortnum & mason high tea in London, just look at their pictures and website, that’s a proper tea. You definitely need to up your game and maybe explain to people what they’re eating instead of just putting it on the table and like go ahead and eat. Afternoon tea is an experience that should be remembered for the right reasons not bad.

I booked high tea. They have it once a month on a Sunday. The day before I got a text asking me to confirm the reservation. I did. When I got there, I was told it was the following Sunday. The following Sunday I came back and I was told it had been the previous Sunday. ?

With a reservation booked in advance for 3 guests we were seated at a wobbly two person table with an additional bench which barely held a child. We were told that’s all they had as they were fully booked with a half empty restaurant. After asking for another table the server said we could sit outside and walked away. We had no menus, water or table service for 15 min and then decided to walk out, disappointed at the poor service and lack of customer service I won’t recommend this restaurant to anyone nor will I ever come back.

We had lunch at this cafe and were completely unsatisfied. My lunch was so greasy I had to wipe my hands after each bite. My tuna melt was very bland. My "lemonade" was so watered down it hardly tasted like lemonade. My friends lunch was also not good. When we talked to the owner and we basically got berated for complaining. He did nothing for us. Got charged the full amount for our lunch. He used the usual phrase. No one has ever complained! We will not be returning and do NOT recommend this restaurant

A unique heritage home venue in Calgary with city view. Sadly the cuisine does not merit this setting. Such a limited menu should provide exquisite fine tuned choices. Vegetarian lasagna was dry…overbaked in the tiny ramekin, veggies were grilled (burnt) before being added to the dish. Tiny bread side piece was also grilled (burnt). No side salad. A pricey tiny boring dish. Lemonade was simply water with a lemon slice. My friend’s dish …a tuna melt was greasy and equally underwhelming. The manager offered no compensation and declared he’d NEVER had ANY complaints before we arrived. I remember lunch years ago being quite good in this setting. Not today!

Had a reservation for 1 p.m. for lunch. Arrived at little early but they gave us a table and then ignored us totally for the next 25 minutes - no menus or water even, until we waved at them. Tables had been cleared and cleaned and reset around us and still no one bothered to check with us. We were about to leave and finally caught their attention and then there were apologies everywhere - basically too late for that. I have had lunch here before and must say that if this is the new normal it was totally disappointing. They should have at least comped our drink for making us sit there for and being ignored. On another note the food was good.

We went to this cafe just before it closed for the season. Great location and wonderful friendly staff. Food was very good. My only complaint was when I saw into the kitchen from our table that the 2 ladies cooking did not have any mask or face shield of any kind on. Covid rules apparently do not apply to them I guess.

I love finding good places to eat and showing off to friends. Reader's Rock Garden Cafe was this place. I took my European friend for coffee but ended up having lunch. My Chicken Mushroom Ragout was absolutely fantastic - we ended with Austrian Apple Strudel, what a delight. Thank you so much!
