If you’re looking for great sushi at a reasonable price, this spot is it! The vibe is super casual but still has that cozy izakaya feel. Their menu features plenty of unique items you won’t easily find elsewhere and the sushi is always fresh. I especially love that uni (sea urchin) is consistently on the menu. Add in a solid cocktail list and genuinely great service and it’s an easy win!
Highly recommend if you’re after good sushi and good vibes without the expectation of a premium or ultra high-end sushi experience.

Food was truly fresh and delicious, love the fresh uni with oyster. Udon and ramen were excellent, dciliius yet not too salty like other ramen restaurants. Only gripe is waiting for food was long but they gave something to compensate which is acceptable. Server attitude was excellent 👍

Service team were friendly and attentive. Food was good, and fresh. Only a slight disappointment with the blue fin tuna sashi bowl, as half of it was slightly lower grade, while the other half was very good. Also cut up rather small pieces, some pieces were so small, it felt like leftover cut out and put in to fill the bowl. Otherwise, we did enjoy our dinner.

Came here for lunch. Service was thorough. Ordered ramen and a couple appetizers. Food was average. My girlfriend loved her sushi - but her avacado and cucumber salad was smothered in sesame oil. The ramen noodles were the standard pot noodle plastic type stuff - unimpressed. The beef that came in the ramen was old and unpleasant. Atmosphere was great. Really fun place. But food was below average.

The food here is incredible! Definitely try the Wagyu oshi and the seared salmon oshi — you won’t be disappointed. And don’t skip the lychee nojito with fresh mint and lychee… so refreshing and addictive. Save room for dessert and head downstairs for some mochi ice cream, or layered crepe cakes!

Great sushi at a great price, everything tasted so perfect. We did have to wait a little longer than expected for some of our sushi rolls but because of that inconvenience they gave it to us on the house which was totally unexpected! We were all very happy with the great service and would definitely come back again
Honjin Izakaya is a fantastic spot in Calgary. Authentic Japanese flavours, excellent food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service is friendly and attentive, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy a great meal. Highly recommended.
