I must have got punked or something, our food was awful. Read the reviews on here and was excited but was extremely disappointed, we didn’t even finish our meals.

Absolutely amazing food and a total hidden gem! It doesn't seem like much from the outside but the food was incredible. Everything was fresh and the portions were generous and the place was packed (which we were not expecting when we first walked in). We will definitely be back soon!!!

I am a classically trained graduate of Professional Cooking from SAIT. Ordered a dinner for 2. Barely any chicken (real chicken tiny peices) in the Chicken Fried Rice, just a few peas and a few pieces of egg. Ordered Almond Gai Ding and the meat was rubbery and no texture of chicken what so ever. I honestly do not believe it was chicken at all. The Ginger Beef was the toughest I have ever had. Told the server I was allergic to mushrooms and mushrooms were served in the Almond Gai Ding. My friend also said how hard it was to eat the Ginger Bef and only a few pieces were decent to eat. She did offer to have the hot and sour soup made with no mushrooms and I declined. Service was pretty good. I believe in honesty. Try Peking Bills in Shawnweesy for a wonderful place for Chinese Food. The Chicken Balls are big chuncks of chicken and the Ginger Beef are both fabulousI discovered it a few months ago and they have won awards for the food there.

Not great. The spring rolls were what I was most looking forward to and they were mushy and bland. Noodles were mostly all stuck together and super greasy. The chicken balls were smaller than anywhere we’ve ordered from and weren’t the best. The green onion cakes were probably the best part of the meal and they weren’t great. Ultra greasy and not much flavour, which also describes basically the entire order.
We had never tried before and had hoped to find a gem based on some of the reviews but it’s just sub par, over priced Chinese food. Won’t waste our money there again.

It was my mother’s birthday and she turned 91, I called a restaurant and they would not deliver. So I found John Wong’s and they were so pleasant on the phone, they said they delivered and the food came right on time. The food was great. It tasted good, it was hot. And my mom and I enjoyed it immensely! Thank you! We will be sure to ordered again! Highly recommended!

First time ordering, excellent portion size, the dishes were all very good. The Shanghai noodles did possess a different flavor from what we were normally used too. Might recommend calling in your order as we experienced an small issue ordering online.

I haven't had Chinese food like this in 10 years. My wife then girlfriend and I found a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant, that blew our mind.

John Wong's took us back and built upon our fond memories. The portion sizes were as one should expect. Unlike many of my local choices, who would give half at best for about the same amount of money.

The flavors full and wonderful. All off our selected dishes were excellent. We ordered way more then we could eat as we were expecting our local portion sizes.

The food amazing, very friendly staff. Small quiet eatery. I imagine they can fill up fast.

Next time I am in calgary I will be stopping again.

John Wong’s is old school, made especially for you food. It’s high quality. It’s fresh. The service is outstanding. I wish I lived in Calgary. John Wong’s will receive a Christmas card from me every year for those fried dumplings and that ginger beef.

The beef curry was supposed to be spicy but the beef did not look like beef or taste like beef. It was horrible! And huge pieces of onions that covered the curry. It didn't have any taste!
The shrimp fried rice had shrimp just added to fried rice already cooked.
I will never order from them again
So disappointed 😞
