My boyfriend wanted to treat me to a special night out—a nice dinner at Klein/Harris followed by a show. Sounds perfect, right? Unfortunately, the restaurant completely dropped the ball.
We arrived at 6:30 PM. By 7:10, no one had even taken our drink order. Tables around us were being served randomly and individually, with no clear system or flow. Sad. The kitchen clearly wasn’t putting food out in order, and the service staff looked overwhelmed or just indifferent.
After sitting there hungry and ignored for 45 minutes, we gave up and left at 7:15 to make it to our show. It’s one thing to be busy, but another to show absolutely no regard for your guests’ time or experience. We didn’t even get water.
Disappointing doesn’t begin to cover it. We left starving and frustrated. Would not recommend.

My family and I were on 8th ave yesterday for an event and stumbled into Klein and Harris. We did know much about the restaurant at all and was warmly welcomed. Our server (I believe Catherine)was prompt and very knowledgeable and she put up with our humour with a smile and a laugh. The food was delicious and portions were not to small and not to big. The only recommendation would be the little complimentary toast with beet preserve should have another layer to the flavor (it was dry). The atmosphere was very modern and comfortable in the same breath. The restaurant was easy to here our conversation around our table. A true bonus in my books when so many restaurants now adays are uncomfortable noisy. Thank you once again for the serving us yesterday.

Atmosphere: quit, comfortable, very good. 10/10 Food: I don’t know how, but these guys somehow made Canadian/American cuisine very attractive and delicious so it tasted like very European, but proudly Canadian. Service: perfect, individual approach to every client.

Klein/Harris is a restaurant on 8th Avenue in downtown Calgary that has been all the rage of late. My friend and I went there a few months ago.
The service was wonderful. Helpful. Attentive. Humorous.
The space is gorgeous. Clean. Simple. Cool adornments on the wall.
The food was simple. Maybe too simple. As a Canadian myself maybe I'm missing the point of Canadian food. I don't have a clue what that is. I've been to a lot of locally sourced restaurants that have hit home runs on their offerings. But this seemed to be not entirely hitting home for us. We'll have to head back once more to try again.

Lovely restaurant. Delicious flavours in the food, inventive without being “weird”. Great service, lovely room. Had an excellent meal on a Saturday night. Love to support an independent restaurant serving quality food!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while. We made reservations for a Friday night. It was decently busy, but spaced out that it was still cozy. Service was absolutely delightful. Cocktails were interesting and delicious - I got the K/H Caesar drink, not what is to be expected from a traditional caesar, but strangely amazing. Food was great. I had their ravioli special with Taber corn and it was delicious. Everything was so good, I look forward to coming back and trying more. I hear their happy hour is very good.
The one punch lunch is a delicious and filling meal! The mocktail was refreshing and the mini butter tarts were a really nice cap off. For a first time diner, I will be back!

Our first time here. I'd give 10 🌟 🤩 in all categories if I could. Had delicious mains: steak and the pork cooked to perfection everything on the plates... vegetables, sauce all had great flavor. The desserts were a perfect ending to dinner. Excellent service and chatted with Christina the General Managing partner. Loved watching the service from our table. We will definitely be back. Flavor of food was spot on. Mai Tai was well made. Beautiful plating. Only draw back is downtown parking. We will be back for next special occasion! ❤️
