If you ask any Calgarian who have lived in Calgary more than 20 years, they will always mention this Korean joint - Which Korean restaurant will you go to?
20 Years ago in Calgary it's not that many, may be like 3- 5 Korean restaurants in town,
Now days of course you will see a Korean restaurant in every 5 blocks or in every neighbourhood
Korean Village is a mom and pop's style family run Korean place, simple, rustic and home cooking style meal, it's like the restaurant style in the 70's - not the Korean BBQ Style, or Fried chicken beer pub kind of place
Lot of soups dishes, home cook stew, rice, and noodles
I will come here whenever I feels like a home cook Korean meal - simple, rustic and hit the spot
I cannot claim to be an expert in Korean cuisine at all, my knowledge in Korean's cooking are very limited, after all,,, I only dated 2 Korean GF in my life, but I do know what I like, and what it's good for my palate
I can tell their Jajangmyeon and Seafood pancakes are the best in the city,,,,at least in my mind
However Whenever I feels like meat, I will also ordered their beef short rib on skillet too.
This place is not fancy, hip or luxury, but for sure it does makes you feels like home cook meal anytime you step foot in here

Food was insanely good and portions were actually generous. It’s the best Korean spot I’ve had in Calgary.✨✨
Semi-private seating made it feel cozy, and the staff were genuinely sweet.
10/10 would come back. Highly recommend.

I often eat at Korean Village. This is the place I go to every month when I am craving Korean food.
The atmosphere is private and comfortable. It is a great place for family dinners or gathering with friends. My family and I are regular customers here because we really like the food quality.
My favorite dishes are the spicy pork bone soup, kimchi stew, and japchae. I highly recommend ordering these together with grilled ribs. That is my favorite combo. The total is around ninety dollars, but the grilled meat portion is very large. Four adults cannot even finish it. The meat is well marinated and grilled properly. It is not burnt or overly charred.
What I like most is the soup. It does not taste heavy with seasoning. The flavor comes naturally from the slow cooked bones, so it tastes rich but clean and comforting.
I definitely recommend this restaurant if you enjoy Korean food.

Today they got rid of me as of a client by giving me spoiled banchan. It tastes horrible! I can bring it to you if you do not believe me. And I think I got food poisoning from your Chapchae.

2nd time here but was disappointed today because of the portion of the bibimbap. I ordered the beef hotstone bibimbap and there was barely any meat.bI didnt expect there to be so little and when I asked about it, it was apparently the normal quantity. I wouldnt agree for being almost $20. The first time we got japchae it was great, this time it was very salty. Love the sides though, very good The fried spicy chicken was good too from the other time we visited. So far been a 50/50, a hit or miss.

I might not have the taste buds for Korean food. I didn’t find the food that special. I like the seafood pancake and kimchi. I like some of the small dishes we got. The beef was delicious too.

Very good and affordable korean food! We ordered the seafood pancake (was nice and crispy) and gamja-tang (proper spice and meat to veggie ratio). Gave us many selections for banchan as well.
Service was excellent—someone kept checking in on us every now and then. Order taking and food expediting did not take long as well.
Atmosphere was very nice and private—it felt like every table had its own little private area so it did give that nice, cozy feeling.
Would recommend going here!

I really like this Korean restaurant. The food is always great. The seafood pancake is definitely worth ordering. Plus, the people who work there are genuinely nice, and the traditional look of the restaurant is really welcoming.

Very good Korean food for a reasonable price and portions! We ordered the Seafood Pancake and the Beef Bulgogi and both where amazing! The Pancake was well cooked and the Beef was well seasoned. The highlight though where the side dishes especially the fried asparagus which where to die for!
