I had been to Leopold in Calgary Downtown and loved it. Being new to North West Calgary, we had tried few restaurants in area but disappointed. Very recently, I got to know about this location so went yesterday. Same amazing food, ambience and service like downtown location- or I would say even better. Sam who served me is a great person to talk to and be attended by. Throughout my time there Sam consistently paid attention and ensured best experience. Their special roast beef burger was excellent and beef taco was great too. Finally I know of a place in NW that offers great food, environment and service!

Review for Leopold’s Tavern – Sage Hill

I had a disappointing experience at Leopold’s Tavern in Sage Hill. I visited with a friend, and after we enjoyed our meal and paid the bill in full, the staff accused me of not paying. Despite showing them clear proof of payment, they didn’t apologize for their mistake. Instead, they dismissively said, “It’ll be written off,” and told me to leave.

This behavior was both unprofessional and disrespectful. Accusing a customer without verifying facts, and then failing to apologize when proven wrong, is unacceptable and reflects poorly on their customer service standards.

I strongly advise others to avoid this location. There are plenty of restaurants in Calgary where customers are treated with the respect they deserve—Leopold’s Tavern in Sage Hill is not one of them.

If I could give this place ZERO STARS i would. Came in at 9:40pm April 28, noticed there was no table that would sit 5 so we sat outside and asked the server (black hair) if they were serving the patio and she said yes. We asked if we could wait for a spot inside since it was quite chilly. We waited 40 minutes for TWO beers and still never got them. Literally terrible service. We waited for so long outside since she told us there was a group leaving inside and we could sit there. Ended up seating ourselves inside and let her know, and she told us she will clean the table. After 40 minutes of waiting, and STILL NO DRINKS and one iced tea that tasted like tap water, she walked by us at least twice with no acknowledgment.

Ended up asking her for the tab for the two drinks we did get and left to go back to Blowers and Grafton.

First time coming and will never come back since service is NON EXISTENT.

EDIT: December 21st came back to try and give this place a second chance. Didn’t even get to be seated. Guy asked for ID at 8:30 PM. I thought it was just minors not aloud after 9?? I left my ID in my vehicle as I don’t even drink so didn’t think it was necessary. All 5 of us left. What a joke.
