Magic Bowl Chinese Eatery

Placed an order for dinner at 6 PM, arrived at 7 PM, and went into the garbage at 7:10. PM Nothing was edible, hot or had any flavor. Completely disappointed and feeling repulsed with how awful it all was. You can find better food at the mall... at least it would be fresh and hot.

We got takeout and it was really excellent! I would definitely go here again. Definitely recommend taking a chance on this place, it was really delicious. Great vegetarian options too!

Came here with a friend on Sunday March 12th 2023.The food was delicious, with lots of variety. The pig buns were cute and tasty. The beef ribs were a bit rubbery with lots of bones. Other than that I will return to try other items that I was too full to eat today.

This place is a gem! Their food is freshly-made and super yummy. We loved the shumai, hargow, and salt and pepper squid! $5.95 for each dimsum dish, so it was pretty affordable as well! We will definitely be coming back!

The girl who took our order was very confused. She also got the order wrong. We were over charged. Plus the food wasn't great at all. The salt and pepper chicken was slimy,gross and mainly all batter(see imagine). Will not be coming here again. You can see lot's of fake and paid for reviews for this place. You'll see if you order from here. Yuk!!!

Well I went over to my friends place last night to have dinner with them. This was the first time I ever saw anyone take the food out of the bag, open it and toss it all in the garbage. It was really bad. The presentation was the worst I've ever seen from a take out restaurant. It was very disappointing but we ended up finding a olacr that had more edible food. Sorry for the bad review, but you really should have known better then to serve us what you did.

Love this place. Finding good dim sum in the deep south end of town was always a struggle. Stumbled upon Magic Bowl a few years ago and it has been our go-to when we don't want to drive downtown. Food is hot, and delicious every time! Haven't ever done dine in... only ever done take out.

It was hard to eat after observing that it was not very clean crazy amount of dead bugs on the window ledge, the soy sauce container that sits out had not been cleaned in a very long time the sauce was stuck to the bottom and all built up. The walls has food splatter all over. You can see a bit into the back and it looked disgusting. I didn’t want to gross my kids out so I kept quite but will for sure never go back simply from the filth of the place. The reviews for the food looked great but these people must not have dined in…I feel like if an inspector came in they would be shut down.

Ordered some takeout dim sum. The sticky rice was delicious, and we loved the beef rice crepe. Reasonably priced and so satisfying. I'll for sure be ordering again.

Went there yesterday with my friend for lunch. It was not busy which is great. Food was amazing especially the salt n pepper squid, beef short ribs! To die for! Very affordable, and our server was so funny and kind. Couldn’t help but give him a big tip. Would definitely come back to this place.

The dim sum made in house is one of the best I've had in Calgary. The service is even better, very welcoming and kind!

This was my second dim sum experience, my first was unimpressive but Magic Bowl completely changed my opinion of dim sum. I enjoyed it very much and will 100% return when I'm in Calgary again. Absolutely recommend to anyone who has not had dim sum before.

Update: So returned to Magic Bowl 3 weeks later, not on a weekend, but during Friday lunch time. The small restaurant was decently busy but not full. My friend and I ordered 6 dim sum items. Our items returned to our table in good time. However, we waited a long time for our last item, the rice crepe. The food was hot and fresh and tasted delicious and of good quality. The long awaited rice crepe is generously filled with meat. We will return here for lunch again. I wish they would have chili sauce and vinegar condiments on the table, instead of having to ask for them. When we did ask for condiments, our waitress only brought us 1 little dipping plate of each to share. Ha ha ha, we asked for our own dipping plates and sauces. Magic Bowl is a good restaurant for a little bit of dim sum for lunch. I'm still not convinced that they can handle large numbers in their restaurant, however.Went there yesterday for a Mother's Day dim sum brunch. This little family owned restaurant was just slammed with customers. It's not a large place, so we were smart to reserve a table for the six of us. The food is excellent. Tasted homemade. The service was very poor, however. Waited 45 minutes to receive our first dim sum item. There are only 4 items in a steamer bun, so we joked that some of us would go without. We waited another 15 minutes for our next basket of dim sum and another 15 minutes for our third basket of dim sum. It took us 1 hr and 45 mins to finish out meal. We were still hungry, but didn't want to order more since I has only given us 2 hours for brunch. We had other appointments that day. Based on the yummy food we ordered, we will return and try them again, say a mid week lunch, when I hope they will not be as busy?

Their dimsum is really good and their pork ribs too but they will literally test your patience. We stayed there for an hour and 15 mins and only 4 out of 6 items we ordered came so we had to leave cuz no way i am waiting for another 20-30 mins for two dishes. So disappointing
