Mediocre food that should be better for the price. Garbage service. All the staff were late to their shifts and left each other scrambling. Our waitress had to act as barista and brought terrible drinks. Food was cold, dry and tasteless. Won't be back.

I was disappointed with brunch at Maven. I contacted the restaurant before making a reservation to confirm that they have vegan options. They said can modify menu options and just to let the server know. I asked the server what items could be modified and ordered the one item she identified. A few minutes later she came back asking about ghee and cross contamination. After a few consultations back and forth with the kitchen she confirmed the original item suggested can't be made vegan and offered one other item. I agreed but was pretty disappointed since the only option was a noodle dish. If you're going to tell customers you have options, please have more than 1 and make sure your wait staff are aware. Cute spot but I won't be returning.

he atmosphere and staff were fantastic and very welcoming. Everyone was polite and attentive. Although we had a reservation, the place wasn’t crowded on a weekday. The portions were huge! We ordered the Singaporean toast and a dish called Benny (the first item on the menu, though I can’t recall the exact name).
The flavors were unique, especially with the maple syrup—it was interesting but enjoyable. The potatoes had a bit of a chili kick, which was nice, though I’ve had better-tasting versions elsewhere in the city. I plan to return soon to try other menu items.
As for the coffee, it was quite sour, which I believe it shouldn’t be like that. Overall, the wonderful atmosphere and friendly staff make this place deserving of 5 stars for now!

Maven's is always so delicious. I came here with my mom and my cousin for brunch, and I ordered the monthly eggs benedicts. It was a traditional pork and lechon eggs benny and it was so good! I'm not a fan of congee, but the one here, I will never turn down. Plus, the fry bread is spectacular. Maria, our waitress, was exceptional. She made us feel like we were old friends, and she was wonderful. The chef, Leroy, cooked the fantastic food, and I am always grateful to come here.

The new monthly feature item was delicious and full of flavours. It was on the heavier side tho! Martina took good care of my friend and I! Thanks for taking care of my drink :)

The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Always approaching you with a great attitude.
We’ve got breakfast in Tokyo and eggs Benedict, both options were amazing.
It’s clear that their team is passionate about what they do and the food quality.

Maven has always been a family favourite and changed the way I felt about brunch! Personally I always came here for the traditional Japanese breakfast (My Breakfast in Tokyo) which consists of rice, poached eggs and raw fish. Usually this dish is incredible and refreshingly authentic - but my last two visits the rice has been hard and dry, the fish does not taste fresh and is not cleanly cut - not to mention the miso soup that comes with the dish is strange and unlike anything I’ve ever had at other Japanese restaurants (almost tastes like a peanut broth). As someone who has worked in the service industry in the past I always believe in second chances as there is off days - but my second try of this dish was just as disappointing.
Maven has great serving staff and is a great space but I am sad to see the Japanese element has fallen off - not to mention quality of food as others I have dined with complained their meals were not as good as the last time they were in. I would still recommend the establishment as its staff are all hardworking and deserving of your business! Just sucks to see a decline in quality - perhaps a change in chef/management/ingredients.

I don't say this often or lightly but this might be the best brunch in Calgary rn. Had the chili crab eggs w beef cheeks on the side and the bannock and it was mind-shatteringly good. Can't recommend it enough. Thanks pals!

We went to Maven on a trip to Calgary last year and it was PHENOMENAL. The wait was over an hour, but the food was amazing and made up for that. We’ve tried to go back 3 times since, but unfortunately being from 3 hours away and their refusal to take reservations on the weekends (typically the only time we make it to Calgary), has made it impossible to do so. I am helping plan a bachelorette this weekend and was really hoping maybe for a special occasion they’d be willing to get us in, but guess not. Even though we said we’d be fine with two regular tables rather than one big one. Great place, hope I get to go there again someday, but I think that’ll take the management reworking some of their policies first.

Wanted to try this place out because it was right beside my work, but I was kind of left disappointed. :( The service look alot longer than expected. I think we waited an hour to order and receive the food. Aside from the wait time the servers were very sweet and kind.
When the food came it was alright. The Maven classic was not bad. The French toast I got was overwhelming as it had too much of a greasy buttery taste, so I didn’t like it very much. As well, the matcha latte tasted more of just milk rather than matcha.

We really enjoyed the food, it was tasty and generous portions. The service was wonderful, Piper served us and was pleasant and took care of us well. It’s a cozy environment which was inviting.
The washrooms left much to be desired though, it smelled and looked as if they haven’t been properly cleaned in quite some time.
