Absolutely the best restaurant in Calgary. I’ve lived here for 25 years. Danielle served us and she was five stars. I’ll give her six stars out of five stars if I could.

Had a great time at Mercato! I've been wanting to try the restaurant for a while and the opportunity finally arose.
Firstly, a reservation is a must, even if you go early you're going to sit at the bar most likely otherwise.
We had a large mushroom risotto and the carota (carrots). I had an amaretto sour and my dinner partner had the margarita Italiano. The service was prompt and professional, with great directions. I liked that there are different sizes of pasta available, makes sharing much easier!
The risotto was delicious, very creamy with lots mushrooms, and tons of parmesan. Some pieces of rice were slightly underdone but we ate it all so I don't think it affected anything. The carrots were also a great side, light charring with yummy ricotta underneath. Personally I wish the ricotta was slightly more seasoned but again we ate it all!
I'll definitely be back and I recommend it 😊

Don’t know how this place has such great reviews. Mine and my wife’s experience was pretty terrible. Waiter did not ask if it was our first time and was condescending when we did not know how their menu worked (food comes out in courses) we specifically said we will share the pasta and steak together. Yet they ended up coming out 40 mins apart. Ridiculous. Then after asking why they were not brought out together, the waiter doubled down and said “this is how we do it.” As for the food, the Tagliatelle was decent -but the Bistecca tasted overcooked and flavorless. We were literally spitting it out, we couldn’t chew it. Ended up taking it home for our dog. We will not be returning.

I’ve never had a bad meal at Mercato, it’s easily my favorite Italian restaurant in Calgary. A true culinary staple in the city. Be sure to try the gigli next time you visit… you won’t be disappointed!

This was our first time at Mercato, and we now understand what the hype was all about. The food was absolutely delicious. Our server, Mike was absolutely outstanding! We can honestly say that this was probably one of the few servers that had. Such great warmth and knowledge. We sat at the bar, which we considered best seats in the house and got to witness the art that occurs in a chef's kitchen. The cleanliness, communication and organization was outstanding. It was truly an amazing experience and we are looking forward to going back. We would definitely recommend it.

What a lovely restaurant!! Our family of 6 was planning on lunch at Mercato before going to the Alberta Ballet's Nutcracker - unfortunately we were running behind. The staff was amazing and rescheduled us for 4:00 pm. There was no spaces available in the main dining area but they created a table for us in the market area - not the same ambiance but still much appreciated. Our server went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful time. Our meal was fantastic!!

We were super fortunate to find parking right in front of the restaurant; however, there really is not a lot of close parking available. We shared a burrata salad, which was an excellent antipasto. I had my absolute favourite dish, the pappardelle with the ragu of wild boar and beef ribeye. It was delicious! I even asked about buying the sauce in the market, but they do not sell it there. My wife tried something new and had the canestri with a butternut squash crema and whipped burrata. It did not disappoint! Absolutely, scrumptious! We experienced a bit of a blip with our order over shift change, but they resolved it with grace and generosity.

Mercato didn't really seem ready to host our party in  the café area of the restaurant where we had made our reservation because we wanted to order pizza.
