Overall our dinner at Mercato West was good with pleasant ambiance and an excellent server. We enjoyed the food, except for the shrimp pasta special. The shrimps were small - with half a shell and tail left on each shrimp which made eating them very awkward! Also I was treating my friend for her birthday which was noted in the online Open Table reservation. The server also asked what occasion we were celebrating. There was ultimately no recognition or offer of anything for her...
Overall food and service was very good, however I did have an “odd” experience. I arrived less than 10 minutes before my reservation time, ie 5:20 vs 5:30pm. The hostess said to come back and perhaps go to the market and look around as the restaurant was not open. Fair enough, but can I suggest at least having a chair/bench in the foyer area to accommodate for such situations. (as I had no interest in going into the market area).
The food and service at Mercado is always top-tier. It’s my favourite place to bring friends or family when I’m hosting people because I know it will always be an incredible experience. Some of my personal favourite dishes are the Caesar salad and the tagliatelle and the Bistecca.
