Slow Friday night. Maybe 6 people at the wood. Another 3 tables in the restaurant/lounge. I sat at the wood. Got prompt service with menu. Absolutely zero follow up unless I waved the bartender down. Didn't come and ask how my drink was or if I wanted food. I waved the bartender down to order some wine. Asked about a wine and ordered a glass. He didn't follow up to see how I enjoyed it. I again had to wave him down to order my food. Not once did he follow up and ask how it was. I sat at the bar for 25min with my card out to pay, befor I had to ask for the bill. I've worked in the the hospitality industry for almost 20 years and I would have been fired for such garbage service. Will never return.

This place is always bumping for good reason. The food is delicious. It's like an upscale pub house with sports entertainment on the tv's. Reasonably priced for the service and food you get. I highly recommend if your taking your loved one out for a fancy good time.

Hello my name is Susan, I am a seventh generation countess.
I was here recently with my great niece as we were both very hungry after our urban hike.
While the food was great and our server was lovely, the manager who's name I believe was Andrea was just completely horrible. Her no good rotten attitude almost completely ruined our evening but thankfully my great niece and I have worked very hard on our emotional stability and mental strength so we were able to shake off our terrible terrible experience with Andrea.
Andrea was accusatory, rude and unfriendly, brash, ill mannered, and lacked common grammar. She also tried to insult me by insinuating I am too old to know what's going on and cool anymore when she is as wrinkled as a prune with her crayola bottle blonde dye job.
I sincerely hope the owners see this and take action, I do not think this is the type of person they should have representing their establishment. Andrea is the type of person who should be shoveling coal on a steam train NOT working face to face with consumers.
Unfortunately I will NOT be returning here even though I thoroughly enjoyed the yakitori chicken lettuce wraps.

We came here for brunch. All I can say is meh. The server informed us that the restaurant is considering whether they should continue to offer brunch. After our meal there I can safely say that they should probably discontinue brunch. Marda Loop is generally a busy and well received place for brunch-especially on the weekends. If this place is looking to be a peer to some of the other restaurants in the area they need to try harder and do better.
The food was not great-over seasoned and the eggs were not cooked well. Asked for over easy and got crispy edged over hard offerings. Husband had the traditional breakfast and thought the maple sausage was really dreadful. Same request for egg style as myself with the same result. The server brought our drinks and then we did not see her again for a fairly long time. She came by about 40 minutes into our wait and said that everything would be out shortly. It was another 10 minutes before we got our food. When we were finished we waited another 10 minutes before we could catch her attention for our bill. A very lackluster experience that we will not be repeating.

3 stars for inconsistent service. Sometimes they are on top of it, other times you sit for 10 mins before anyone comes and acknowledges you've been seated. The food is good. Half price pizza on Sundays is awesome!

Mackenzie was absolutely fantastic! She was so attentive and always made sure to check on our table. She was also incredibly helpful in getting our drinks and food out as quickly as possible. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for great service. And the patio is also very dog-friendly, which is a huge plus!

I have eaten at Merchants before. Food is good, and Atmosphere is great. So I decided to bring my family back for dinner. When the family goes out, it's always a minimum $150-$200 evening but not this time. We show up, get placed outside as the inside is full. I had no problem with that as I saw they had heaters. We were sat on very dusty not clean tables, and in the cold awaiting for staff to turn on the heater. After waiting atleast 10 minutes we left. No one greeted us, not even water, or cutlery or a mention of specials. Service definitely let us down, it is no reflection of the food or Atmosphere.

Enjoyed a great meal, I do like this location as there is parking which is nice. The atmosphere is laid back and the food and drinks are wonderful. Our server was delightful and did a fantastic job. That said, this was at dinner time and it only appeared that two servers were on shift which caused them to be stretched very thin and delayed drinks and thinks like that. Not their fault, and it could have been due to sick calls, but at the end of the day the service did suffer. I would certainly go back as it could have been a one of. The Olive oil and pepper martini was fantastic and the pizza delish!

Stopped in for dinner last night spontaneously. The place has an upscale sports bar vibe with plenty of TVs, making it a great spot to catch a game while enjoying a good meal.

We started with the tuna stack appetizer (pictured first), and I highly recommend it. It was bursting with flavor, and the crispy rice added a great contrast in texture. For mains, I had the penne alla vodka, which was rich and saucy. My partner ordered the double chicken breast, perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned with fresh herbs.

Unfortunately, our experience was dampened by one of the least friendly servers I’ve encountered in a while. She was cold and unengaging, which took away from the overall experience. Thankfully, the bartender more than made up for it with exceptional service and a great attitude.

I would definitely return, but I’ll be hoping for a more pleasant server next time around.
