Wife and I were had dinner there on a Saturday night, overall great experience. Food was tasty and service was good. Ended up being a bit more of a "bright" atmosphere for our date night that we probably would have preferred but overall happy with the choice and would go back.

Very disappointed with the menu change! It used to be so good and there were so many options.. a lot was taken away. Tacos came soggy too and nothing was very exciting. I miss the old menu!

I really wanted to enjoy Milpa, but unfortunately the experience didn't live up to the price point. The dishes we ordered weren't quite worth what they cost, and our order ended up being mixed up, which took away from the meal. They also didn't have the bottle of wine listed on their own menu. I genuinely appreciated that our server went above and beyond by running across the street to purchase a bottle for us, but it was noticeably inferior to what we had originally selected, yet we were still charged the price of the advertised wine. Overall, it just didn't feel like good value. Skip this one — there are many better dining options in YYC.

The experience at Milpa was fairly disappointing: most of the food was nothing really special based on the prices charged and we waited a long time for our mains which were just meat without any sides (and for 40-50 dollars per main you'd expect at least some potatoes to go with it). The restaurant was extremely hot (one of our group actually felt faint from how hot it got). At the end of the night, with a bill of over 350 for 4 people, we were left pretty unsatisfied, especially since this restaurant was recommended to us as being one of the more innovative Mexican places in Calgary.

The food was pretty good however the potions were dismally small. The “large” plate is definitely not for sharing and you'll probably need to spend $100+ if you want to leave there full. The food isn't by any means bad but just know you'll need to spend haha

The service was friendly. I do wish they had a non-alcoholic beer on the menu. There are many options out there now and some of us don't like Pop! The food was tasty and well presented. We ordered three plates: Salsa tasting, beef tartare and one of the chorizo tacos to share. The first two dishes came out in a timely fashion but the chorizo seemed to have been forgotten as we waited for about 20 minutes for that after the tartare had been cleared. Other than that, it was great. We will be back.

Wonderful experience waiter was amazingly friendly and it truly felt like a family restaurant experience the waiter offered more chips and more tortillas when needed and all the portion sizes were excellent at a price point that really can't be beat food was unforgettable and we will most definitely be back again. Nothing could have been better!

Too loud of music and felt like a nightclub in some ways. But maybe that is the vibe they are going for. The food all tasted the same and was bland.

Rarely do I leave a review below 4 stars but the issues at Milpa have been consistent for 3 visits there...really slow and inattentive service. In addition to that, on my latest visit, our first course, the potato empanadas came out cold and still partly frozen. Mistakes happen...we let it go but then to wait for 15 minutes on a relatively slow night to get our servers attention to get the bill was unacceptable. Definitely will not be going back here. Seems more suited for people taking instagram pictures amidst the cool ambience than coming for the food or service.

The night started great as we got seated and the atmosphere felt very warm and welcoming, as the night went on we asked our server to turn down the music as we have multiple people that have trouble hearing and we were seated right under the speaker, they turned it down for 2 minutes and went right back to the same volume we complained about at the start and we had to ask again to turn it down which they said they would and didn't, half of the bar menu was out and he hadn't told us anything prior about what they were out of and only had two options for beer, the food was delightful and came out great but our server didn't seem to listen to anything we were saying and was no where to be found multiple times throughout the night, happy hour starts at nine so after an hour of us ordering drinks and food we wanted happy hour tacos which we ordered more then 20 minutes into happy hour and he didn't put that on our bill or even discuss with us the fact we ordered happy hour tacos and beverages, we trusted him to put them on the bill correctly and had to pay normal price for something that was said to be half off. Lauchlin was our server and he could've been more accommodating and definitely more detailed on certain things such as prices, bill division and just being more forward with what is in stock and what isn't, overall disappointed with the service but the kitchen and food was lovely and seemed very clean and profesional

Incredible food. We were missing mexican corn tortillas and this is probably the only place in town that delivers on that craving spot on everytime. Perfect datenight vibes

We've been a few times and had great experiences. This time the music was super loud, the food was cold and our waiter was nowhere to be seen. We would have certainly ordered more cocktails but in three hours we could only manage to order 2 per person because we never saw our waiter. Really disappointed with the experience.
