Cocktails and service were amazing! I had high hopes for the food- and while it tried, it didn’t hit as high as we were expecting. We ordered many dishes, including the crudo, tartar, cavatelli, calamari, and the fried chicken share plate with biscuits. Unfortunately they were out of all their bread dishes.
We first had the tartar. Oddly, itcame with lettuce and not a bread or cracker, which completely overpowered the flavour profile of the tartar (which was honestly better just by itself). The crudo was good but the flavour was flat considering how many acidic and tasty things were supposed to go with it (ex: couldn’t even get a hint of green apple on most pieces which I was VERY excited for). the calamari was super interesting and very flavourful, and the cavatelli had really good flavour but was extremely dense, to the point we questioned if it was just underdone. The chicken platter, however, was very good cook and flavour, and the biscuits were phenomenal. Probably wouldn’t go back anytime soon, but was a good experience as it was on our bucket list for a while!
👍👍
Model Milk was a great experience! Staff is very attentive, and food was good. I had the flat iron steak which was good, the other people dining with me had the scallops and the octopus. I will definitely be back in the future!
After all these years, this is still one of my favourite restaurants in Calgary!
Food: oh man, where to start. Basically, you can’t go wrong. For a table of 4, we tried the shrimp toastie, calamari, beef tartare, and… something else yummy (don’t recall what it’s called). And while they are all a hit, we enjoyed the calamari the most. The burger is always solid, but my friends enjoyed the halibut, flat iron steak and the chicken. Model milk does a great job making classics their own and memorable, while also doing the simple things well. Apple pie was a great way to finish such an awesome meal.
Service: attentive, friendly, but still elevated enough to make customers feel special and that they are enjoying their time out. Our server however did make an error on our bill.
Atmosphere: I love the vibe of model milk, industrial, elevated but not fussy. Great for any night out.
Value: for the taste, quality and quantity I think it’s great value.
Will be coming back time and time again, and on my highly recommended list! Make sure you make a reservation in advance.
I had been here before but only for dessert, which was great. This time we went for a meal and had the calamari to start, as well as the fried chicken with coleslaw & biscuits, and pork with peppercorns, rutabaga and chrysanthemum as our mains. The calamari and the fried chicken were great, but the pork was the most awful thing I've eaten in a very long time. The chrysanthemum tasted disgusting, both because it is sharply floral and bitter, and also because it was charred for the plate. The rutabaga was as weird as ever. I feel like they were trying way too hard with this dish. A simple rutabaga mash would have been fine, but instead, it was shredded in such a way that it looked like it had been through a food processor and then not even cooked all the way through. The sauce used in that pepper and pork dish was almost kind of soupy and did nothing to pull the flavors and textures together. The pork was not that tender, it didn't even melt in the mouth. I don't understand how they can make other exceptional dishes and then totally bomb another. It was so bad I probably won't ever go back again. The venue is nice the service was pretty good, but this dish was enough to send me running. I thought I should let everyone know to never order this and perhaps the restaurant should take it off the menu (or do a complete overhaul on it).
Very nice place for dinner. Upscale atmosphere. The service was AWESOME. We had a reso at 8:15 and kept it but I mentioned it was a bit late and we may cancel. They called me back shortly after with an earlier seating. I really appreciated that. The waitress was super friendly and quick as well. 10/10.
Had the opportunity to go to Model Milk again, this time for an intimate birthday celebration. No one else in our party had been there before and the overall sentiment was everyone loved it.
Good was great, service was great, atmosphere is awesome.
The dishes are amazing with layered flavours. Make sure you skate the dishes to get to taste more different items. You have to have the apple pie! It's amazing.
Attended a corporate event there last night and it was absolutely amazing food. Really great and we all couldn’t stop talking about it! We had a family style dinner and the portions to share were more than enough. I have never tried a beef tartare like this one or the apple pie… to die for! The private space upstairs was cozy and elegant. Amazing place and service.
From food to service, everything was spectacular.

To be honest, this is the finest restaurant I had so far in Calgary. I had just the beets salad with charcoal stirloin. The salad is really interesting with pistachios and plums. But the highlight is the stirloin. I had the stirloin at first which was already so nice with potato purée. Unfortunately, the mushrooms and sauce are too salty for me because I am used with eating quite bland. They came with new stirloin again with potato still and put those aside. I think it was better but still I could only eat the stirloin and potatoes. And I kept saying to them those 2 were beautiful enough for me. But they ended up not charging the whole stirloin dish for their policy which surprised me really much. Thank you for serving and I truly hope this restaurant can be better known with great quality like this.
Amazing service, atmosphere, and of course food! The stories you've heard about the fried chicken are true: it's delicious! And if you get the shared platter, be prepared to to bring some home.
Our servers were attentive made sure that we always had clean dishes and full glasses, and made us feel right at home.
I also loved that they had a diverse selection of non-alcoholic beverage: beers, cocktails and even a wine.
My only regret is not having enough room to try more food. I'll definitely be back for the octopus.
We loved our evening here. The fried chicken was amazing and it's just a great atmosphere overall. Thanks for a great night!
Good place. I liked the beef tartar. Calamari wasn't my thing. My wife liked shrimp toasty
This place truly lives up to its reputation. My partner and I shared the 18oz Ribeye, which was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. It was served with a side of onion rings that were nothing short of exceptional — crisp, golden, and unlike any onion rings I've ever had before. They truly stood out and elevated the dish even further.
And let’s not forget the cocktail menu — creative, balanced, and impressive enough on its own to bring us back. A standout dining experience all around. (shoutout to Baby Got Back and the Exhibit Coconut) highly recommend!!
