Honestly the most authentic Lanzhou noodles I've had outside of China. (Yes, better than places in Montreal or Vanc)

The two female waiters are very nice, and the noodles are also very delicious. The most delicious noodle restaurant in Calgary is often frequented.

During our brief stay in Calgary we decided to try this noodle shop out of all the restaurants we saw in the plaza.
The food was great, and the service was friendly. We ordered the braised beef noodles, the beef noodles with pickled mustard, and the deep fried chicken fillet. The portions were very generous and filling, especially the huge bowls of noodle soup which we split three-way.
There are 5 noodle types to choose from and I'd recommend #3 (thin round). The noodles were the right amount of chewy. #5 came out too soft.
All of the meat we had (beef and chicken) were all very tender. Even the pickled mustard was pretty good, which surprised me because I have never enjoyed pickled mustard before. My mom was a bit disappointed in it though, so if you're craving a more Taiwanese flavored version of pickled mustard which my mom says has a sweeter flavor, this may not hit the spot.
The broth was flavorful as well. Not my personal favorite but that's just personal preference. I crave a more Taiwanese flavored beef broth. Nevertheless, I still really enjoyed the soup very much and I went in with an open mind to try Lanyang style noodles for the first time. And it did not disappoint.
Overall my family had a satisfying dinner here and it's a great place to go for a comforting bowl of noodles to warm your body and soul~

my sister, her boyfriend, and i visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. when we arrived, there was no greeting. the host simply looked at us, said nothing, and walked away, leaving us confused. we assumed we should follow them and were eventually seated.
since it was our first time dining here, we weren’t familiar with the menu. when we ordered ramen, the server asked what type of noodles we wanted in a tone that came across as rude and impatient, which caught us off guard. later, we realized we hadn’t been given spoons, but we couldn’t request them since no one checked in on our table despite staff standing nearby and watching intensely our aisle.
when it came time to pay, i chose not to leave a tip due to the poor service. at that point, the server confronted me and asked if something was wrong. i didn’t feel like i owe them an explanation on their bad service, so i simply replied no. she scoffed, said “ok,” and rolled her eyes, which i found very unprofessional.
overall, the service left a negative impression, so i do not plan on returning.

Over cooked hand pulled noodle is soft and soggy. Skewers are ok!

The ambience is nice , but that’s not why people come to a restaurant , it’s for the food , and over here the flavour is very light to non existent. The meal tasted plain , and should not be over $20 . If you want a quiet place to sip tea in peace , this is the place for you , not for the food unfortunately 😅
