Native Tongues Taqueria - Victoria Park

Yes it was Stampede, but as someone who reserved a table for our party of six, celebrating my sister's birthday, it was disappointing and kind of gross to be seated by the bathrooms under a leaky pipe. They didn't seem to care much and said it was impossible to move us. Food was okay, but not outstanding. Margaritas were also okay, but served in a cheap little water glass. If you go, try to sit closer to the windows or outside and don't go if they are really busy.

Excellent happy hour margaritas! We also tried the salsa fresca, guacamole and corn dip. Our mains were a sampling of tacos - with the carnitas and pescado being standout favourites. Delicious, fast, fresh.

Great food, a really gem. Not our first rodeo (pun intended). We were excited to return and will again. Price is a bit high. Service was a bit slow/infrequent.

Never been here before. Was wanting to try something new. So glad we dined here. The food and service was amazing! Can't wait to return!

Good food however terrible service. We had to constantly call for service as the wait staff did not check in at all. Had to ask for new plates including our old ones to be cleared.

Not my first time at native tongues but my first time at this location. Was rather loud and very busy , however you can't go wrong with the excellent atmosphere and food that the staff and chefs provide. I do feel that the Mexican food is a little white washed (lack of hot dishes) but the flavour is there almost a unique style.

We made a reservation for NYE celebration, the experience was poor. Our reservation of 6 was for 10:30pm, but we were inform the kitchen closed at 11pm. It was a disappointment. No drinks or anything else was available for us. One of us didn't receive a "limonada" and when explaining this to the server, he couldn't make the bar tender to give it to us as they were cleaning the bar. The guy apologize and informed us it was going to cancel it from the Chek. Lights were so low we needed to use the phones to be able to check the menu. The ambient was not existing. The waitress was very kind and sweet boy, but the overall experience was definitely not what we were expecting. We didn't feel wanted or expected there, rushed and not happy for the day.

Native Tongues Taqueria offers a solid taco experience right in the heart of downtown. I visited around midnight, and while the nighttime vibe was nice, the lighting was a bit too dim, making it tough to read the menu clearly. The tacos themselves were well-prepared and flavorful, with fillings that felt both authentic and satisfying. The sauces were especially memorable, adding just the right kick and perfectly complementing the tacos. The horchata was alright, though it could’ve been a bit richer to round out the experience. Overall, it’s a great spot for tacos, especially if you're looking for something after hours—just be ready for a low-lit ambiance that might make the menu a bit hard to read.

I firstly want to say how much I love the food here. We always go for the Barbacoa de Cordero. We did prefer when it used to be neck of lamb instead of the recent shoulder as it was even tastier & more tender but it’s still really good.

The atmosphere is good but it’s just too dark.
I literally had to use the torch on my phone to read the menu & then left it propped up to see the food that I was eating. Definitely not a romantic light just plain dark. Really need to have the option of a candle if the rest of the place is so dark. I surely can’t be the only person who would like to be able to see what I’m eating?

It was an amazing experience! The food was simply delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. I recommend 100%. We are from Mexico and we were looking a place in Calgary like this. Appreciated!
