This eatery was very cozy and clean. It has a down home atmosphere. The food was meticulously prepared, healthy, and tasty. Stephanie was right there when you needed her and gave you super good service.

We have been going to Nellies for over 10 years now. It is a Calgary staple in the all day breakfast scene! The new owner is the previous chef as Jenny sold it over a year ago. French toast there is some of the best in the city. And the bacon, real good. The service a friendly quick and just downright excellent.

There were 4 of us crammed into a corner table and it was tight.
The menu is extensive with many things I might have liked to try.
I specifically ordered my eggs on my Benny med+. 3 bites in I discovered the were grossly undercooked. It was near impossible to get the attention of our server, so I set it aside and drank my water. She didn't tend to our table again until it was time to deliver the bill. No coffee or water refills, no inquiries as to how everything was...nothing.
I see no reason to ever return.

This morning I had the wonderful pleasure of sitting down at Nellie's.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is good, very old fashioned diner-y. Solid.

Service was good, too. A server once asked me without prompt to refill my coffee. Solid.

The breakfast was nice, this is the Nellie's Hash. A healthy amount of veggies, hashbrowns, two eggs (soft), some slices of fruit, and some sourdough toast. Solid.

Value? $22.52. Keep in mind, I ordered coffee with mine. Pretty solid.

Feedback: This did not feel very 'mountainy' like your menu described. More like a hill. But a pleasant hill, perhaps with a nice tree you might lean up against and admire the sunrise to.

Tldr, good food, atmosphere, and service. Maybe adjust the menu description of the item I highlighted, but altogether a pleasant meal 😎👍

I came in with expectations of a nice breakfast, everything was better than I expected. The food was delicious, it even looked beautiful on the plate. The prices were fair and I swear the server could read my mind. She brought me a separate plate for my pancakes without even asking, after my drink was finished, she brought me a glass of water. All without asking for a thing. Everyone was friendly and even the music playing was great. Thanks for the great experience!

I am unsure of why this place isn’t packed. I was debating between going to A&W for a quick breakfast as I was short on time, but decided to chance it and come here and I am so glad I did. The time it took me to sit, and have a tea in front of me was minutes and my breakfast came just as quick. The server was so attentive, always checking up and making sure everything was perfect and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Most definitely will be coming back here for a quick bite to eat or a nice brunch with some friends! My only regret was not getting a picture of my plate before I destroyed it.

The worst breakfast I have ever had. I am sorry, but do they taste what they cook? I ordered eggs benedicrs by the way. Hollandaise sayce is absolutely disgusting. Ukrainian kolbasa is dry and no flavor. I will not recommend it. I do apologise. But there is lots room for improvement.

this place has cool retro vibes; however, the breakfast food lacked flavor. could definitely use more sauce/seasonings. i’d be willing to go back and try the lunch menu next time.
