The food was great, so flavourful and the best bruschetta I’ve had. Service was great and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

The food was DELICIOUS, hot, fresh, and tasty. Service was good at first, servers very polite, smiling, but rushed us out. They took our drinks away, and we had only one sip, and cleared our dessert away while we still had not finished. The 300.00 bill was put on our table, without being asked if we were done, or if we would like anything else.
That kinda of left a bad "taste" in our mouths.
Food was GREAT though.

We had Niko's cater our wedding with a guest list of 100 people. He was a joy to work with , advising us through the whole process. Everything was seamless, from creating and finalizing the menu to the final delivery. The food was absolutely amazing, with five star ratings from all of our guests. We would recommend Niko's to anyone looking for a caterer for their event or even just a place to eat!

This place has gone downhill since our last visit. The Calamari is still great. For our mains, we ordered the penne Al vodka and the cod.

I added chicken to the penne Al vodka. It was awful. Tasted like it came out of a can. Way too much pancetta which ruined the vodka sauce. Terrible dish.

The cod was done with a tomato sauce. Typically fish should be done in a white sauce. It was extremely bland. Included was also a spaghetti pasta with absolutely no flavour.

Overall just terrible. We were asked twice by the waitresses how things were and I did not comment. The owner then came and asked and by this time I had to spill the beans. His answer to the distasteful chicken was that he “braises it himself”. No chance. This was just awful/gross. He then proceeds to say that the table next to us order 2 of the same dish. “Good for them! They probably don’t know good food”.

The reason I’m leaving this review is that after my feedback, nothing was done about eliminating the dish from the bill.

Niko get it together. Your customers deserve better!

Only thing was the double espresso was bad. Shots were too big meaning too much water. Cut your espresso shot back to 1 1/4 ounce.

Not overly happy about the experience. The food was very tasty authentic Italian BUT…

The portion sizes were incredibly small for the price… the photo attached (penne Calabrese) was $28 and had MAYBE 5-6 small bites of sausage!

The location itself is just very old, the atmosphere is more family diner than expensive Italian restaurant, no music, old furniture and their sales system doesn’t let you split the bill by seat… they make you do the math yourself or split it in equal parts.

If the prices were half the amount I would give it a higher rating.

Came for the calamari, and tbh...meh, a bit much on the sour side. Had Gamberi, shrimp was good, but sauce was on the sweet side for me. Ordered spaghettini frutti de mare, was just ok. We also ordered Cannelloni, was mushy, like eating baby food and was also too salty. Our water was refilled quite often, so service was great! There were some flies around us, which we shooed away, so not a big deal.

Niko has been running this place in Kensington for more than a decade. No small feat. He hasn’t survived this long by listening to uninformed reviews by people who can’t cook - that’s for sure. Having worked in a kitchen before, I think I can make some fair observations. I came here to meet up with an old friend and had a Caesar and veal parm.

The Caesar salad was slightly disappointing for the price and portion. A bit bland as some pieces just tasted like lettuce. I wouldn’t recommend it.

However the veal parm did make up for the salad. It was properly cooked, well plated, and the flavors were there. I could tell it was made with a lot more attention. Great saucing that’s made in house, blanketed with mozza and Parmesan, perfectly seasoned enough but not enough to override the parm. The vegetable sides were nicely blanched and salted.

Service was really good.

I’d recommend Nikos if you are in Kensington. Definitely get any pasta dish, frutti de mare is a favorite, or a veal dish.

Appies were muscles. They were old and atrophied. Caesar salad was rusty and the main course of spaghetti was under whelming with very same sauce as the muscles.

The gnocchi was nice but the sauce was so spicy i couldn’t keep eating it. Others said the sauce in the calamari was also too spicy to eat. The meatballs were salty. You had to make the bruschetta yourself. Not very nice on such crunchy bread. Too expensive for what we received I only had water and gnocchi and my bill was $32.
