Big Fish & Open Range - Renfrew

We were a group of five and chose the set lunch menu. The food and service were great, but the pacing was quite slow—about 45 minutes from ordering to receiving our main courses. Given that it's a set lunch menu, I expected quicker delivery. If you only have about an hour for lunch, this may not be the best choice.

Oysters were small compared to Rodney's on 10th Ave SW. Food was cold in one area but very hot in another area. The Sirloin steak had a piece of grissel on the edge that I could not even cut through. The Cod was bland, both the sauce for the cod and the gravy for the steak tasted the same. Just under $200 for two, with no alcohol. We will go back but will order with care.

The service is very personable. And we have been a few times with never an issue with food or service. It is one of few places that serve Arctic Char with always comes hot and delicious!!

This a hidden gem of Calgary. We were visiting Banff from Montreal, and had a night in town before flying out the next morning. So happy we found this place, a cozy, neighbourhood venue that focuses on good ingredients and a comfortable, beautiful ambiance while givinf an experience to remember. Service was great, and this will definitely be our go to when visiting Calgary.
We have the bone in rib eye and the hot oysters, and both were FANTASTIC.

Had a birthday dinner, food was decent, our server Kayla was really good, the issue I really didn’t appreciate was that they automatically put a gratuity on our bill for 6 people, not cool. Why would you force someone to tip a certain amount? Ironically, we would have tipped at least 20% instead, our server got the 18% that they forced us to leave. This is bad business practice and for this reason, I will not return

Having a Christmas party with the company, the grilled beef sirloin was horrible. None of us is able to cut the steak. We asked for a better steak knife, but that didn't help! The steak is tough, vegetables were cold.

Just had dinner at the renfrew location and to be honest, left very underwhelmed. The hot and raw oysters were good, but that’s where it ended. My husband ordered the bison short ribs and I ordered the prime rib. The meat dishes missed the mark. My prime rib was tasteless, covered in sauce and the mashed potatoes were barely present, my accompanying Yorkshire was burnt/inedible. My husbands ribs were also tasteless along with his almost non existent mushroom risotto. I am very disappointed as this is marketed as a high end steak house. Service was left to be desired as the waitress couldn’t have cared less. I would recommend going else where if you’re looking for good meal.

Consistently amazing, visit after visit, year after year. We had the pickerel and cod, and both were cooked to perfection. Combine that with top drawer service, and a cozy, warm space, it makes for a wonderful experience. Thank you!

Always enjoy eating at Big Fish Open Range. Great selection of appetizers and entrees making it a delicious experience. Very friendly staff and a very nice atmosphere.

Excellent Service. Two menus to choose from, fish, beef, pasta. Food was delicious! Meals plated beautifully. Highly recommend.

Came as a family of 6 and was charged $41 gratuity without a choice.
