Big Fish & Open Range - Renfrew

All our meals and desserts were delicious. The walleye and mashed potatoes was excellent, as well as the pistachio artic char and bison short ribs woth scalloped potatoes. The hazelnut torte and orange caramel desserts were wonderful. Attentive service.

We had a lovely 90 minutes over lunch. Having chatted with our server, she was game to accommodate our interests in the 3-course, but different. 2 of us had the soup/salad and skipped dessert. One asked for light dressing on the salad; one got a half order (and reduced price) for the fish and chips; the third asked for the salmon burger without the bun. So there was a lot of accommodation! Cheerfully provided and a very good meal was had by all.

We just love this place—it's a typical birthday haunt of ours, though we really should go more often. The seafood offerings (the main reason to go IMHO), are perhaps a bit limited, but that's not necessarily a negative. What they create there is masterful and absolutely wonderful. They also offer a fairly extensive meat-based menu, but we've not explored it in any meaningful way, as really good seafood is rather sparse here in the City of the Cow. The meat dishes whizzing by our table (especially those lamb shanks!) looked amazing though!!! Definitely try the pistachio-crusted arctic char, or the pan seared salmon (the latter with an anise-infused crab beurre blanc that was simply dreamy). Both were so good, we nearly wept! Portions were also generous, and accompanying sides were wonderful, and belonged there. If you can, go on a Monday when their oysters are on special—BOGO, I think—they usually have several regional varieties on offer, depending on availability and season. If you're an oyster-head like I am, this alone will make your trip worthwhile. Also, please, please, please don't pass-up the orange creme caramel! And do pair it (as recommended) with the Leacock Madeira. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

We had an incredible dinner at Big Fish! From the moment we were seated, the service was impeccable—especially from our server, Lisa, who was nothing short of amazing. She had that rare ability to be there before we even realized we needed something, and her attentiveness made the evening feel seamless and special. The specials for the evening were thoughtfully crafted—both the dinner features and the wine/cocktail selections were top-tier. Every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented, and the wine list was clearly well curated to complement the menu. You can tell this is a place where quality and experience truly matter. Highly recommend for a night out—Big Fish never disappoints, and Lisa made it unforgettable!

We visited Big Fish wine Wednesday ( 50% off glasses of wine and bottles). We brought our own bottle of wine - no corkage. We started with calamari and then shared the fish tacos and finished with sharing the 12 oz duck breast. Service was excellent and the food was absolutely fantastic!

Wonderful service and delicious food, unfortunately it was very hot in the restaurant and quite uncomfortable. One of our friends had the lamb burger with lobster, sadly there was not a lot of lobster on his burger. Other than those two issues, we would go back. We want to try the brunch.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The lamb shank was massive and could have been shared between two people. My steak was cooked perfectly. Had a really good time here - can't wait to come back to try other interesting dishes on offer.

I go to Big Fish regularly and it never disappoints. Some of the best seafood dishes in Calgary!

We had heard good things and were not disappointed. Best place to get fresh fish in Calgary. The grilled scallops on the seafood platter appie were especially divine! I could have eaten a bucket of them.

We really enjoyed dining here. The food was excellent, tasty, and abundant. We would recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone. The prices were a bit extravagant, tho. Regardless, we'll be back to try other dishes . . . P.
