Excellent is every aspect. We will be back . Might do a little staycation in the hotel as well
Food is excellent and ambiance wonderful whether you choose the dining room watching food prep or lounge area by fire.
Enjoyed dining here, appreciated it was peaceful and relaxing, with awesome service and great food and drinks! Even the chef popped by to say hello which was such a nice thing to experience! If you are looking a a nice evening out where the atmosphere isn't loud and overwhelming this is a great place to go!
Our quest to find a decent afternoon tea in Calgary continues. Oxbow is not it. If there's one thing I love, it is a great afternoon tea. I have had the pleasure of experiencing some excellent teas over the years, from the Peacock Room at the Waldorf Hotel, The White Heather in Victoria, and The Banff Springs Hotel, among many others. Let's start the review with the location. The Oxbow is located in the Hotel Arts Kensington. If you follow Google Maps and don't find parking, you will be routed down Memorial for about 1km and then around and back another 3 or 4 km before you can try again. We ended up parking four blocks away. When I walked in, the reception area had a desk, and a meeting was in progress. I thought I came in the wrong door and was in someone's office. I was then directed through a door and into an empty area. There was no one to greet me. I slowly made my way to find the restaurant. I finally did and was greeted by a server who told us to choose where we wanted to sit. The place was empty, except for a couple getting ready to leave. Classical music was playing a bit too loudly. The Server explained the menu, and for the Tea ($65 pp), the options were the type of tea and if you wanted a sweet or savoury scone. We chose two sweets and one savoury, and all chose Earl Grey. The scones were tiny, but warm. The server then informed us that there was no clotted cream, as they had run out (BOOOO!!! Not cool). We had booked this 10 days in advance. There is no excuse for this. The look on my wife's face when the server said, Butter was better, was priceless. No Jam, no cream for scones is a crime; also, no milk or sugar was on the table or offered, so we had to ask. The tray arrived, and the items were ok. I enjoyed the corn muffins, and the pot pie was also good. I did not enjoy the deviled egg; the cucumber in the sandwich was a bit slimy. I also had mentioned in the reservation that it was my mom's 80th Birthday, and nothing was mentioned.
Took friends out to Oxbow. One of my favourite places to dine. I gave my suggestions for food choices and once again Chef Junell, Chef Geli, Chef Sam knocked it out of the park. Their ability to deliver such high quality food in a timely manner while simultaneously maintaining a steady flow serving a party of 30 is incredible. Radicchio Salad: 9.5/10 Duck Wings: 9/10 Brussels Caesar: 9/10 Brie en brioche: 9/10 Braised short rib: 8.5/10 (only due to no sweet potato hummus available this time) Duck Breast rice bowl: 10/10 Immaculate flavours and delicate craftsmanship for this dish. Cheesecake: 8/10 Banana bread tres leches cake: 11/10 Possibly my favourite dessert on their menu of all time. It's creamy yet light. Flavourful but not aggressively sweet. When you take a bite you want to take another one right away. The play on texture with the soft banana bread, light whipped cream, and crunchy graham crumble makes it such a delight to have. From special occasions to a business lunch, this place is perfect for any dining experience. If you want to show off what food scene Calgary can offer then I recommend this incredible restaurant to be on the top of the list.
It was a really nice High Tea. Really nice selection There is a lot of construction in the area so plan for more time for parking. Otherwise it was a really nice experience. Thank you!
A delightful experience at Oxbow for their afternoon tea. The venue is of a size that allows for more intimate conversations and nicely appointed. Corey Strange (restaurant manager) was attentive and and provided some of the best service I've received at a restaurant in ages. Corey was charming, knowledgeable about the menu, and happy to engage with our table. The food was delicious with an interesting twist on a traditional afternoon tea. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
I can say for the first time ever that I liked every one of the items on the 3 tier tray on a Afternoon Tea outing. Service was great, ambience wonderful. Highly recommend giving it a try at this neighborhood gem!
Excellent dinner for date night. Sat on patio and had a wonderful experience with our server. Will return.
We dined on the patio at the Oxbow on a lovely evening. The food was absolutely first rate, interesting dishes very skillfully prepared. The service was prompt and unobtrusive, and when a particular after dinner was unavailable the server made a very good suggestion for an alternative.

One of the best plates of food I’ve had in Calgary. Stellar service. We were very pleasantly surprised having overlooked this place for years. Accessible fine dining. Nothing pretentious.

An amazing dinner on the patio at Oxbow! The patio is comfortable and cozy and the food was inventive and delicious. We enjoyed the amazing duck wings - a unique appetizer that our family always orders, never disappoints! The Hamachi Crudo was delicate perfection and perfect for a warm, summer evening. Oxbow's menu offers something for eveyone. We ordered the raddichio salad with prawns (delicious!), the braised short rib and sweet potato hummus (an unusual and comforting option well-suited to anyone else who needs dairy-free, egg-free options), the impeccable Oxbow burger (a consistent favourite) and the Roasted Half-Hen (a new dish and such a satisfying blend of flavours and textures). Oxbow consistently delivers interesting dishes which are perfectly balanced and well-executed. Service is always courteous, professional and friendly and the patio is a hidden gem. Just be aware that it may sometimes be a bit noisy, located on a busier street, but it feels enclosed and is very comfortable. Oxbow is a hidden gem in Kensington - really worth checking it out if you are a foodie! It has become our go-to for family celebrations and special nights out and never fails to please.
Great food, service, and dog friendly patio! Thank you for a great time!

Nice experience with afternoon tea. Some nice offerings with afternoon tea. Recommend the sausage roll and the croque madame.
We absolutely love oxbow and always feel a part of the family. We especially love the chefs choice menus as well as the pasta features. These menus always give the chef's creativity and they come out amazing all the time! Would recommend to anyone looking for a new restaurant to add to the rotation.
