I'm currently enjoying a coffee at this location as I write this. It's my first time here and I'm loving it! The staff are friendly (we had a really great chat), the coffee is good, and the location is great too (free underground heated parking? Amazing). What prompted me to write this review is seeing how clean this coffee shop is. I just saw a staff member wiping the baseboards. They clearly enjoy their jobs and take pride in where they work.I don't know if any of the owners or managers read these reviews - but if you happen to be one of those people - please try to give the staff an extra bonus if you can. They're great!

Very cute cafe with an upscale but approachable vibe. Parking is not too bad, you might have to walk a bit but its free. The baristas are very knowledgeable and happy to talk about coffee with you. I got a cortado and a pour over. Both were excellent. The donuts are also good.

$6 and 10 minutes to wait for a tepid, weak americano. No where to sit as tables are full of single people on laptops working. And the bathroom smells like sewageI suggest you walk on past this coffee

I came in to get a YYC hot chocolate, but I shouldn't have bothered. The barista was the slowest moving person I've seen in a long time and apparently wasn't able to or willing to multi-task. When I finally got my drink, it was in the smallest cup I've seen in ages. The child size cups at food fast joints are bigger; adding insult to injury, it was only 2/3 full. And sadly, the hot chocolate was disappointing - any sour cherry flavour was discernable only as an aftertaste on the back of my tongue.

Could feel something granular on rim of water glass that accompanied my espresso and on my tongue. Found a sliver of broken glass on my tongue. I flagged it for worker and gave him one of the shards. I had ingested others. He said the manager would come over and I sat there a while with no action so left. Feels like as a manager that would be something worth dropping what you’re doing to address.

4.5 overall. Very reasonably priced compared to most brunch spots and with a good variety on the menu. Much like monogram has primary colours; p&s now have bloom. They both have different vibes as well. This spot is worth visiting. While still serving their speciality - coffee + hoopla donuts, they also have a savoury meal menu from sandwiches to pancakes.Drinks are consistent as with all p&s spots - good place to grab coffee and likewise drinks. The donuts from hoopla are always a good default grab as well.Meal - really enjoyed the chicken sandwich, farmers breakfast and also the rice pudding - great flavours and also simple enough to be unique (not homestyle and nicer). The only questionable one was the sourdough waffles which were a bit too tough, which made it hard to knife and fork as well and a harder chew.Service was good, relatively quick (mild waiting) and friendly. Easy to order from the front counter or the QR code at each table. They also ensure everything remains clean and orderly.Seating - lots of seats in a typical coffee shop setting (long tables and along the wall long booth manner). It does get busy here though so may not always get a spot. Take out available as well.

Took 15-20 minutes to prepare a tea to go. I get it, it was busy but maybe getting to easy orders first will clear the backlog.

After reading the reviews I was pretty disappointed here. It was a weekday morning when my husband, son and I went to have brunch here. Even though there weren’t many customers, it took ages for our coffee and the staff were standing around talking in the meantime. We ordered the chicken sandwich, grilled cheese sandwich, and I had egg and bacon in a donut. I don’t know what sauces they put on these items, but it made them taste really weird, even my son couldn’t finish the cheese sandwich. The cheese had oozed out onto the plate and half the sandwich was so overdone, he couldn’t get his teeth through it. I left most of my dish. We had been to Sammie cafe the day before, and that was much better quality.

Phil and Sebastian have built an entire brand and identity in and of itself. The coffee is good, the decor of the locations is bright and pleasant. Not a bad option for coffee and a little something sweet while you're in Calgary.

Phil & Sebastian always have great coffee. But their success came from more than what they brew— they always had such dedicated, kind, and knowledgeable staff, and a great atmosphere that made their cafes easy to support and recommend to others.I'm sad to say those days are over. You can tell when a place is well managed when the staff seem happy to be there, creating a welcoming space. The new normal is staff that look annoyed and do not care about the customers or the coffee they serve. The cafes are rudderless, getting worse, without any sign of life. The staffing, the training, and joy within the cafe all miss the mark for the lofty standards that made Phil & Sebastian a Calgary institution.Additional review:Happy to see a new food menu. Looks like they are refocusing efforts in the cafe. Hopefully it inspires the staff to step up efforts as well.
