17 ave coffee shop that’s been a staple for a around 5 years or more! Lots of seating with plugs for ppl working on laptop. They used to have books to borrow but I think there might be new ownership? The baked goods are gone not sure if that’s coming back. But otherwise for just grabbing coffee and a place to read or work or meet up it’s convenient! Free wifi.

Great atmosphere but didn’t feel very welcomed. Was a bit disappointed after being told that it was “disrespectful” of us to be bringing in coffee in the cafe. We were hoping to sit down and relax but felt rushed after being told off by one of the workers (felt that it could have been communicated more properly). At the end of the day, still supported the business by paying $5 on a walmart quality muffin.

The older lady working was very rude and impatient, the second i asked for a iced coffee with oatmeal she raised her voice a bit and her tone, saying an americano and coffee were different things. The oatmilk was incredibly grainy and had a weird taste, and the coffee itself was pretty meh. This was my first time coming here, and I wont be coming back.
I got the coffee about 3 hours ago now and I dont feel very good :(

I had an iced sugar-free vanilla latte with oat milk. While I thoroughly enjoyed the beverage I couldn't believe it when they wanted over $9 for it. Other than that it was ok.

Philosafy has been a staple on 17th Ave for a reason—their coffee is consistently great, and their roasts are some of the best in the city. It’s the kind of place you go to when you want quality and a calm atmosphere.
That said, I was disappointed to find that the soap in the washroom had clearly been watered down. It was almost empty, and instead of replacing it, it seems like it was just topped off with water. For a place that prides itself on quality, cutting corners on basic hygiene is concerning—especially in a food and beverage setting. Sanitization should never be an afterthought.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously. It’s a small detail, but it reflects a bigger message about standards. I want to keep supporting this local gem, but I also want to see them live up to the high standards they set in other areas. I don't think ill be back for awhile.

A solid place to get your coffee ☕️ fix. Being located on 17th means that finding parking nearby is certainly hit and miss, but if you are walking in the area then no problem.
It is nice that they have an outdoor patio but it would help to have umbrellas outside because the sun can certainly beat down in the South facing patio. In the winter, it would be great if they had patio heaters.
Inside, it is a pretty simple setup with the counter in the middle and seating along the sides.
The latte was good and well-presented.
The pricing is reasonable too.
