I went there for lunch with my friend. There were lots of options for lunch. But the quality of the food is very Chinese made Japanese food. The sashimi looks previously frozen. The yellowtail capaccho looked Bizzare ( it was leaf salads on top of it?!) and it tasted lots of mayo with the capaccho. Apparently the restaurant is with a different owner now. I feel bad for writing this as I have nothing against Chinese owner who owns a japanese restaurant but the food quality just subpar. The pressed sushi was ok. Our waitress was very nice. The floor was very sticky as well.

Took my son here for his birthday. He ordered his usual favourites.... Gyoza, chicken karaage, katsu and I ordered ramen. Everything was delicious but the star of the night was the karaage..... Succulent, large and the best his ever had. Unlike other places we'd tried.... My son would return just to eat a double helping of the karaage. And staff are friendly and welcoming, too.

Went to Ponshu for the first time Friday evening.The food was excellent, especially the Sea Urchin Carbonara. Unfortunately the service was subpar. After taking our order, our server never came back to refill water or check on the table. We wanted to order more food, but we couldn't get the server's attention so we decided to leave.Just as we were about to leave, we heard our server (I think she was actually the manager) yelling at the serving staff loudly in the dining room. For sure the entire restaurant can hear her yelling. I noticed other customers were shocked too. It was very unprofessional.Food was good, but due to poor atmosphere and attitude, I will not be returning.
Be prepared for your tastebuds to explode. Best sushi we’ve had in past 2 or 3 years. Fresh with the chef creating amazing mingling of different foods & sauces. Different specials daily. Service excellent with kind & helpful staff. This place is very special considering the modern trending & treatment you get at other restaurants which are poor service & poor food at prices that no where match the quality! This restaurant is so far superior.

3.5 stars. There's nothing to complain about, but there's nothing worthy to note either. Not the greatest sushi I've had. Curious to try the sea urchin carbonara but will likely save it for during happy hour when everything on the menu is 20%.
Parking: Can see it being difficult to get a spot during peak hours.
Easily one of our favourite sushi restaurants in Calgary! Fresh and beautiful presentation, they also have some amazing weekly specials so there's always something new to try! Staff are super attentive and always treat my little one so well.
My experience with the atmosphere and service in the past was good. However, today my takeout had pieces of string in the cha siu. A younger kid could probably choke on this.
