This is a small gem tucked away in the suburbs. The menu changes with the availability of fresh and local foods so that's always interesting.
Had an amazing time for a special Saturday dinner! Loved the small menu, great wine selection and very attentive staff. Will definitely come again - such a great neighbourhood gem.

Purlieu Wow! This is a small unassuming French restaurant in a strip mall in a southwest Calgary residential district. It has less than 20 tables. What may have been lacking in décor was more than made up for in the quality of the food. The menu, while small in number of items, has something for everyone. I think there were about 7 appetizers and about 7 main courses and three deserts, augment by specials of the day. Our party of 4 enjoyed the baked brie, salade maison, coquilles St Jacques and also the calamar. For main courses we enjoyed the Bouillabaisse and one of the 2 specials of the day. The Plat Du Jour happened to be pork tenderloin. The tenderloin, wonderfully spiced, was presented with baby potatoes, artichoke, a carrot, cauliflower and cherry tomatoes. We also tried 2 of the 3 deserts on the menu and enjoyed them both. My wife and I are members of two of the most exclusive or fanciest clubs in Calgary and, since I regularly order pork tenderloin when out, I can report that Purlieu's presentation was the best I have seen in Calgary even in some of the ultra fancy restaurants and clubs. Dinner guests, on the evening we ate there, were vary casual. I was the only one in the place wearing a sport jacket [nary a tie to be seen].
Service was excellent. Food was fresh and presented well. Good cocktails. The three of us had Duck a la orange. We all agreed it fell below expectations. Flavor was bland and duck was not as tender compared to other restaurants. Overall a very pleasant evening.
Incredible food and atmosphere, love this restaurant!

Very nice atmosphere, the service was great and there were a few different special dishes. We ended up with escargot, moules frites my partner got the duck, plus creme brulee for dessert. Everything was very good, the moules frites were excellent and used pei mussels which are my fav. The wine sauce was tasty and the fries stayed crispy even though they were soaked for quite a while.

We had a great meal, and with Purlieu's usual friendly service. I had one of the specials; pork tenderloin served with baby potatoes, tomatoes, and artichoke with a mild sauce. My plate had absolutely nothing left on it at the end of the meal! My wife had her usual - the Mussels Provencale. As delicious as usual. We asked for a wine recommendation, and enjoyed the choice.
Definitely a hidden gem! Excellent service and food for a good price. My fiancée and I were really happy we came here. We spent more per person because we had to get some cocktails and wine for a treat

Located in a little strip mall in Oakridge, Purlieu is open for dinner during the week and lunch on Saturdays. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a quiet weekend lunch in the SW. Limited menu but the mussels and steak et frites were beautifully prepared and delicious. Nice wine menu...lots of by the glass options. A great place for a special occasion. Will be back for dinner sometime soon.
Second time we have been and both times we have thoroughly enjoyed the food and the ambience. There are not many restaurants that you can have dinner and just chat without tv's and noisy music but Purlieu is one of them. It was a Thursday night and we were told the Friday and Saturday nights are noisier. Our waiter Yves was attentive without being over the top. Just right. Recommend? Absolutely.
The restaurant was busy Sat. night but with only one waiter and one busboy the service was quite slow and inattentive. The place is small and quite noisy. I ordered the steak Frites. The steak was thin, sl. overcooked sand the size of one for a steak sandwich. Withe fries, $34. The Coquille St. Jacques appetizer was med. sized and quite good ($19). If you wanted bread and butter, and extra $5. I probably won't go back and definately not on a busy night
We hadn't been to Purlieu in a couple of years and decided to go for lunch on our wedding anniversary. We love the ambience of the space and our server was lovely. We ordered the escargots, calamari and mussels. All the food was delicious and quite good value. Their menu isn't very large but everything was delicious and would recommend!
