The place is beautiful but the service not so much. Claimed to be fully reserved and it wasn't, they accomodate us on a bad spot for a baby and no changing tables . Perhaps a good place for adults but not so much for under age.

Great portion sizes, hearty flavours, and a pretty cute/peaceful spot ❤️

A beautiful hidden gem in Calgary! Reader’s Garden Café has such a cozy vibe with delicious food and drinks. I tried the bruschetta, egg salad sandwich, crepes with ice cream, and chai latte — everything was fresh and flavourful. Perfect spot for a peaceful brunch in the garden.

Beautiful place

The place is super cute and very comfortable and homey. The food was not bad, it was all a little expensive for what it was. The carrot pepper coconut soup was nice, a little thin. Others in my group said the chicken was quite dry in the other dishes.

I wish I had read the reviews before going to Reader's Cafe such a disappointment. Standing at the door waiting to get acknowledged for our reservation, nothing. Got seated, ordered our meal, waitress not friendly, old guy walking around guessing owner or manager looking absolutely miserable. My friend ordered the egg salad sandwich with soup, very bland. I ordered the chicken caesar salad, chicken was good but I have never seen caesar salad dressed with oil only, where was the creamy dressing, very bland. Also our food arrived she went to serve us and couldn't figure out which one of us had what, dropped the plates down and left. We just sat there with no silverware, guess we were suppose to eat soup and salad with our hands. Will never return or recommend this place to anyone. Shame on them for the quality of the food and the poor service.

Quintessentially English gardens with a delightful old house perfectly situated with a view of stampede park and downtown.
However on a warm day the inside seating is quite warm but there are a limited supply of seats on the deck.
Unfortunately the food is average and the service slow and inconsistent.
Prices are reasonable.

This is such a hidden gem in Calgary!

The place is surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees, and the house has a charming, classic style.

We stopped by for a drink. My only observation is that when one of the waitresses served our drinks, she accidentally spilled some on the table and didn’t make any effort to clean it up. We ended up having our drinks with the spill still there.

Aside from that, the staff were very friendly, and the place is definitely worth a visit.

Kendra was an amazing server!!! She checked in and made sure I was taken care of! She never pressured me and found me space when I didn’t have a reso! This little oasis is for sure one of Calgary’s gems!

The meal was good. The salmon on the eggs Benedict could have been a bit more plentiful.

We were seated outside and almost forgotten about, the server took so long to greet and get us water. And then took even longer to get our order. Our drinks arrived after some time and food arrived shortly after. Food was average nothing special. Ham looked like it was from package from costco. My husband ordered coffee and didn't get any refills. When asked They said it would take 3-5 mins to brew . By the time the coffee is ready, we were done our meals and ready to go. I won't come back to the café again.

The café is a lovely old house within the beautiful Reader Rock Garden. It was lunchtime on a spectacular summer day, so it was quite busy and we had no reservations. It was a warm day and very hot inside the cafe. We waited about 30-40 mins and were able to be seated on the lovely little patio. The service and food was just okay, but we enjoyed the surroundings very much.

Historical building with lots of character. The walk up from the parking lot through the garden takes about 10 minutes (lots of steps) is beautiful. Allow more time to stop and enjoy the gardens. Food was delicious, nicely plated and the service was excellent
