I would suggest some direction signage from the parking lot. We took the wrong pathway and had quite a hike to get there.
We ordered the daily special which was a quiche and we ordered the carrot soup. The quiche was soggy with an uncooked pastry in fact it was raw. By the time we got to eat the soup was cold - we waited for our cutlery and napkins while our waitress served other tables and then collected payment from a nearby table and then we got our cutlery.
We brought to the waitresses attention why we didn’t eat the quiche. She said well I’ll bring it to the chef.
When she was collecting payment I asked her what the chef came up with….not much of a response as to what happened to the quiche and we were charged full price for an inedible meal. Not the experience we had hoped for in fact we were quite disappointed overall.

This was a really cool cafe! It has good food and is surrounded by a beautiful garden. They could really benefit from doing take away drinks so you can walk around the gardens with something to drink.

Hadn’t been here before and was unaware of the winding trek up a hill in order to get to the cafe. My friend has a knee issue and gave up a short distance from the street level parking lot. We therefore drove up to the cafe (being guided by a cemetery worker in a golf cart due to very poor signage). Upon arriving at the cafe, we were told that there are only 2 spots for seniors with parking tags. Although a truck was parked near the cafe entrance without a tag)🤷🏼‍♀️
My friend was seated as I drove my vehicle back down the hill to the main parking lot . I then had to trek back up the hill - must be in quite good shape in order to do so🙄
I agree with an earlier post that the host was not particularly cheerful and very matter of fact. Our server and food were fine but we’ll skip future visits👎🏼

The place is beautiful but the service not so much. Claimed to be fully reserved and it wasn't, they accomodate us on a bad spot for a baby and no changing tables . Perhaps a good place for adults but not so much for under age.

A beautiful hidden gem in Calgary! Reader’s Garden Café has such a cozy vibe with delicious food and drinks. I tried the bruschetta, egg salad sandwich, crepes with ice cream, and chai latte — everything was fresh and flavourful. Perfect spot for a peaceful brunch in the garden.

Beautiful place

Miyuki Food

The place is super cute and very comfortable and homey. The food was not bad, it was all a little expensive for what it was. The carrot pepper coconut soup was nice, a little thin. Others in my group said the chicken was quite dry in the other dishes.

I wish I had read the reviews before going to Reader's Cafe such a disappointment. Standing at the door waiting to get acknowledged for our reservation, nothing. Got seated, ordered our meal, waitress not friendly, old guy walking around guessing owner or manager looking absolutely miserable. My friend ordered the egg salad sandwich with soup, very bland. I ordered the chicken caesar salad, chicken was good but I have never seen caesar salad dressed with oil only, where was the creamy dressing, very bland. Also our food arrived she went to serve us and couldn't figure out which one of us had what, dropped the plates down and left. We just sat there with no silverware, guess we were suppose to eat soup and salad with our hands. Will never return or recommend this place to anyone. Shame on them for the quality of the food and the poor service.

Quintessentially English gardens with a delightful old house perfectly situated with a view of stampede park and downtown.
However on a warm day the inside seating is quite warm but there are a limited supply of seats on the deck.
Unfortunately the food is average and the service slow and inconsistent.
Prices are reasonable.

This is such a hidden gem in Calgary!

The place is surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees, and the house has a charming, classic style.

We stopped by for a drink. My only observation is that when one of the waitresses served our drinks, she accidentally spilled some on the table and didn’t make any effort to clean it up. We ended up having our drinks with the spill still there.

Aside from that, the staff were very friendly, and the place is definitely worth a visit.

Kendra was an amazing server!!! She checked in and made sure I was taken care of! She never pressured me and found me space when I didn’t have a reso! This little oasis is for sure one of Calgary’s gems!

The meal was good. The salmon on the eggs Benedict could have been a bit more plentiful.
