I finally decided to try Rio Pizza tonight for a change of pace. Good local pie for me the decade normally involves ordering from Volos or Inglewood Pizza on 26th, but always see this place since it's close to where I work. Tonight was the night to finally try it.
First off, a friendly lady on the phone took my order and they have their customer service nailed down. The place itself is basically just a hole in the wall old school takeout place. As for the actual pizza, I got the Rio Special which definitely has its own fresh and homemade taste. It actually reminded me of a pizza I used to eat as a kid at a restaurant in my hometown. No complaints and will have to eventually try something else on the menu.

Folks, at 62, I don't get out much for eatin' out, but this cozy family-owned spot's become my go-to. Their seafood pizza? Heaven on a crust—fresh shrimp, clams, and garlic that dance with just the right tang from the sauce. Small team, big heart, and portions that leave you smilin'. Came here after Andrew Phung said it was one of his favorite in Calgary. I ordered a BBQ chicken pizza and an anchovy pizza. Very glad this place does anchovies - that is hard to find in the city. Plus, they put more anchovies on their pizza than Papa John's. Their sauce on both pizzas was tomato forward. The pizza dough was thick - I ordered regular pizza but they have a thin crust option. I really enjoyed their 10 inch pizza deal. I'll be back for an anchovy pizza!
